    I really wish someone would do the kind of in depth tour of Halley that Jeffery Donenfeld or Gone Venturing did for Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. If you get beck to Halley you should do so. I would love a 45 minute in depth exploration of your facilities there.

      Not really, I was only there for 3 months and was very pressed for time. Was too busy to be bored but if i didn't have work to do it would get tiresome quickly. The area is very flat without many features, but the base had a lot of games, musical instruments, a gym and movie stores for entertainment. How much research do you need to do to realise its bloody cold and nothing grows there

    • @rlt94
      @rlt94 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not what they're researching, mostly space observation, particle physics research, global climate observation, and paleo-climate studies with ice cores. There are tundra areas on the continent's coast that are more mild, relatively speaking, and home to some plant life in the form of terrestrial algae, a few dozen moss species, and two small flowering plants (Antarctic Hairgrass and Antarctic Pearlwort), as well as some fungi and bacterial colonies, these are host to a few hardy insects and various birds and seals. In this part of Antarctica the living things are studied too for a variety of reasons.
