That insulation issue was rather baffling. I guess it would make sense if a previous owner with a DC layout wanted to have it permanently static whilst running other locos on the same section of track, but if that was the case then it would have surely been much easier just to unclip one of the power wires from the motor. Sabotage, perhaps??
