The Words That Remain is the name of this Solas album and Caren Casey is the singer of Pastures Of Plenty. God bless her and Solas. My favorite album to date! Beannacht.
Bookmarked this video as it's an inspiration and reference (and possible source of quote) for the novel I'm working on, about a miner and union organizer in 1860s Australia.
This song makes me want to do a little jig... or maybe frolic through a meadow... or do a jig in a meadow. Either way, this is so beautiful. Lovin' it!
Karen Casey combines sensitivity with passion. I love this version of this Woody Guthrie song. .Mick MC , if you are in London now performing one of Sting"S plays, all the best!
I love Solas old and new, but this photo of them is misleading... The singer during this timeframe was Karan Casey and the Guitarist was John Doyle (both not in this photo) I believe ~ And kudos to song selection to select a Woody Guthrie song!
In the meantime, console yourself with their version of 'Maid on the Shore', and/or 'The Ghost of Tom Joad'. Give yourself a treat, buy a copy of their album 'The Turning Tide', go on, you know you deserve it, you're worth it.
Check out their bios on Wicki, their website & FB, buy an album or two e.g. The Turning of the Tide, then get to one of their live concerts. Also see Their performance 'Shamrock City' at Celtic Connections,Glasgow Jan 2013 (I woz there) a very moving performance, beautifully done without being sentimental. Enjoy.
I love Solas🍀🍀🍀🍀☘☘☘
Not sure how I landed on this, but I love it! I need to listen to more of their music!

Saw these guys about a month ago and they're still awesome. If you've never seen 'em live, do it the first chance you get.

This makes me want to go on a road trip west

Have you heard the album Exiles Return that Karan Casey and John Doyle did together after leaving Solas? Magnificent.
Thanks for the upload, would have liked a vid, but I am not complaining! I love this band.
Thanks for the upload, been waiting a while for this.

th-cam.com/video/TVL2rojxv4w/w-d-xo.html ( Algeria ~ "Afous d'Afous" Touareg music )
They are from USA but the style its Irish Music! :D
I tried lookin for a live video but couldnt find anything.
Niamh forever!
Sweet!!
love these guys :)
as a Kingston Trio fan i don't think they did this . Bob Gibson did the best cover of this Woody Guthrie classic
An old Woody Guthrie song. Father of Arlo Guthrie.
Very strong cover, but for my money the best cover was by Josh White's son Josh Jr. about 1961.
yes , check out Bob Gibson's cover, I think is the best
Gibson's was the very first cover I ever heard. I agree it's good, guess we all have our preferences.
I dont know if they ever really replaced Karen Casey properly. Their still good but not as good as they were with her
Too fast. They sound like one of those godawful German 'Celtic' bands.
Opinions are a dime a dozen...
