This might've been an extra, unneeded step. Might've been cheaper & faster just to fill cracks and grind down high spots on the floors to pour epoxy vs covering all that up with this. I've seen a lot of videos showing how to prep floors for that so this step isn't needed.
I agree with you! The main reason I put down the underlayment is that I had a lot of spots where the old flooring didn’t peel off the subfloor all the way and it was hard to get it removed.
