Aurelia is a Cities: Skylines series focused on building a semi-realistic futuristic city. The city is influenced by cyberpunk and other sci-fi styles. It mostly revolves around a high-density urban theme with lots of verticality and elements that are either completely made up or inspired by cities and structures from all around the world, architectural concepts or flat out fiction. To achieve all this, the gameplay is heavily altered by mods. The city favours public transport and walking, but because of Aurelia’s role as a regional centre, there is an extensive highway network as well.
PC specs are in the channel's About page. No, the game doesn't run like this in real time. It is recorded slow and made faster in editing.

This is the best city I have ever seen to get build. The multi layered builds, the public transport, the whole idea behind the city... Amazing!
Thinking about the next futuristic series: It would be really cool to se you go even more bonkers with verticality. You know, reduce the horizontal size, cram more buildings on top of each other, super dense and complex stuff. Some of my favourite parts of Aurelia are the super dense parts, and you know... Mars left a vacuum. Maybe you can do that kind of building but with your level of detail, and not explode the fps/burn out. Am I on the right track to what your planning?
Mars was a bit too vertical, CWCW himself said that it just lead to terrible FPS very early on, but I'm already working on the next city and so far every project has multiple levels. But, you know, certain aspect only shine when there is a contrast.
What I would like to see is a post apocalyptic city, with different districts for different factions/gangs that rule each particular area. Imagine a "neon quarter", a "junkyard", maybe a very heavily fortified area, etc. Could use colors, building styles and forms to diferentiate them.
Aurelia has been amazing! Honestly, the best Cities Skylines series I've ever watched. Can't wait for the next one!
Aurelia is one of the most beautiful projects I've seen in Cities Skylines. Yes, there are a lot of very large avenues cutting through neighborhoods but I see so many substantial public transportation lines and services that I think it makes up for that. I would love to see more shots from the pedestrians point of view. Like, in a park looking toward important landmarks. Looking at this amazing world from the little tiny people's perspective. I look forward to your next project. You did an amazing job. Cheers.
The new first person mod is great, I plan to experiment with maybe directly people POV and see what can be made from that.

This magnificent piece of architecture is originally called "the wave" (bølgen) designed by Henning Larsen Architects, and is located in Vejle, Denmark.

Looks amazing! Hyped for the next city
Highways and cars have their place, though. Nothing bad about loving their aesthetic! Highways should just be one of many options for people looking to get somewhere, and Aurelia has many other options, too! Besides, the highways never look crowded in this city because of all the alternatives, so traffic noise wouldn't be nearly as bad as in real-world cities like Los Angeles of Beijing. Plus, the walkability of the city helps reduce the division that can be caused by highways. Basically, the highways in Aurelia are dope and you seem to have minimized the negative impacts while still giving people the option to use them if a private car is their preferred mode of transport.
Also this city is my favorite Cities Skylines city in terms of detail and aesthetic. Well done!

Hey Akruas, this series is one of my most loved ones of all time! It gave me so much new inspiration to C:S and I was always looking forward to the next episode. Especially your narrative style feels so comfortable to me. Although I know, how much work this is and that you are thinking from time to time not to start a new project, I hope to see a lot of more innovative things in C:S. by you. It does not have to be always a series for 3 years on youtube with all that editing. Livestreams are great as well! And there so many other possibilities to be creative with C:S nowadays. A short highly detailed build as a diorama for example. Thank you for all your creations and inspirations!

An Absolute Masterpiece
What I really love about this city, it looks futuristic but not too sci-fi futuristic with holograms or flying cars. Could be a realistic city from ~30 years in the future.

every building is unique. Meanwhile in my hometown the same architectural firm copy pasted like 7 skyscrapers right next to each other, and they are almost completely identical.

Aurelia are great. In wait for another City and Altengrad too. On other hand, did you ever plan in make a Art Deco/Dieselpunk City? Would be very interesting project.
Problem with these styles is that the selection of assets is super limited, unlike just general futurism.

I usually let my city build as it's needs arise. The catch being that I go into each project with the mindset of how it would really be developed. If I need industry, I'll decide on a few small companies to start up, maybe an old one will make plans to expand, or a new one comes into town and buys a giant pile of land to do with as thou wilt. It makes me feel like I'm in control of the cities aesthetic, but not really in control of how it develops - and thats what keeps me completely engaged with my cities. I also play mostly with gameplay mods that allow better gameplay and more building freedom, though I dont have the RAM to do that and also download a hundred assets, so I skimp on them cos i rather managing the city be fun and realistic too
7:32 I can't remember where I read it, but a comment said that Cities: Skylines is basically AutoCAD at this point
I really hope the next futuristic series takes on a more darker cyberpunk tone, instead of light and bright cities. But great work either way!

Probably the most futuristic city ever, but I wished some of the buildings were actually functional, as far as I know, procedural object buildings don’t function. Place block services to add functionality

I have this game and most of its DLC from Steam, but just the fact I could never take full advantage of it and design something great like this discourages me from playing it. Same with Planet Coaster, i see what people make in that game in videos and realize i could never be that creative, lol.
@8:15 I see you got the little pod cars (buses) working. I had no success with them after many experiments. I'll have to go back through the series and see if I can find the one where you build the university. Maybe I'll pickup some tips to get the pod things working.
Those are the Olli buses, work just like any other buses in the game.

I wish we could export our cities to VR or something so we can walk around them in first person
