We Will Never See Another NFL Season Like 2017 Again...

  • As we approach the 2024 NFL season, I thought it would be fun to look back on my favorite season in NFL history, the 2017 NFL season and I don't think we'll ever see a season like 2017 ever again. We saw the most incredible underdog story we may ever see with Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles taking down Tom Brady in the Super Bowl in one of the most unlikely upsets ever. Anyway, if you enjoyed this video at all then like and comment if you want, and you can even subscribe if you think I've earned it.
Thatsgoodsports could make an NFL season recap on all types of people including Tom Grossi and other NFL highlights if he chooses to. The football analysis provided by urinatingtree could prove to be too much for Benchwarmerbran as well as the rest of Brett Kollman's minions.

I live in Philly. It was my senior year at Central Highschool. Our prinicpal literally said “if we win tomorrow, technically there is school, but you guys dont have to show up.” I watched that game like my homework depended on it (because it did) and when we won, i couldn’t believe it. 18 years old, me and my friends showed up to school at 8am, left to go downtown, and celebrated with MILLIONS of other Philadelphians/South Jersey and practically tore down the city. Jason Kelce later on came to our highschool and played Trumpet along with the Lincoln HS band (New England kids. Our principal bet Lincoln HS we would win, and if we won, their band would come perform for us.) for us at Central. Greatest week of my life. Made me a certified Eagles fan for life.

I remember the Minneapolis Miracle so clearly. All the family gathered in the living room, all decked in purple. My dad and uncle silent as they've seen this show before. Keenum steps back to throw and that room is dead silent.
And there never was, nor has there been since a greater cheer that arose from that room as Diggs ran in the touchdown. We felt unbeatable.
Flash forward a week later and the same people are sitting in stunned silence as once again our dreams go up in smoke.
As a sidenote, I had gotten a Thielen jersey that Christmas and through the years he was on the team it was on and off in terms of luck while wearing it. But since I was wearing it when the Miracle happened, any luck that could have been in it was drained.

You are forgetting other crazy things from that season - the Bills ends what a 20(?) playoff draught due to a mircale play from Cinny against the Ravens. Additionally, if that play didn't happen the Jaguars would have played Tennessee in the Wild Card rather than the Bills. The Titans swept the Jaguars that year (including the week prior - the last game of the season), and it was very realistic that the Jaguars would have lost in the Wild Card, because the Jags love losing to the Titans 3-times a years... which means the upset in Pittsburgh never happens and we probably get the Steelers-Pats AFC Championship rematch.

The 2017 Eagles were a true anomaly. They played that game against the Falcons in the playoffs and looked absolutely atrocious on offense and everyone completely wrote them off. Then Foles came out and played the game of his life against the Vikings and then went on and topped it even higher in the Super Bowl. They went from a team everyone wrote off to champions in a matter of 3 weeks.

Jake Delhomme had a bit of a run some years with the Panther etc. Even the Bucs who most of the time were bad won a Super Bowl in 2002, and of course there’s the Brady Years but they were only actually good for 2 years with Brady, winning another bowl of course.

I remember that season so fondly as an Eagles fan. I was a senior in high school and for years I got mocked for being an Eagles fan and how we could never win the big one. Needless to say when we won the Super Bowl I was on cloud nine! I heard it all once Wentz went down with the torn ACL. I heard "your Super Bowl chances came and Wentz" stuff like that. I heard you'll never beat the falcons then it was you'll never beat the Vikings their defense is too good, and finally it was you'll never beat Brady in the superbowl only one other team has done it. That win shut EVERYONE up even if it was just for a season. My grandfather, who has since passed away, was an Eagles fan practically his whole life. He'd seen it all at that point the highs and lows. I remember vividly what he said to me and my parents Monday morning after the game he told us "my life is complete and I can die a happy man knowing that they finally won the big one" and 2 years later he did pass. I will never forget that year as long as I live.

A few other unique things to mention about 2017:
Bills make the playoffs for the first time in 17 years thanks to that Bengals win over the Ravens. At the time, the Bills were the last team who hadn't made the playoffs this century.
Also, one week before the Jaguars win one of the highest-scoring playoff games ever, 45-42 over the Steelers, they won one of the lowest scoring playoff games ever 10-3 over the Bills.
Oh, and let's not forget the 0-16 Browns.
