I don't think it had anything to do with the beachfront initially, everything sort of boils down to "Mr. Security" took a risk to avoid ending up being watched by security. Given previous operations performed by Hamas he probably underestimated them. A couple of hostages and dead people would be the reminder of why "Mr. Security" can't be removed from power, instead he got a calamity which made his situation even worse. The beachfront, the oil, the gas, investment opportunities etc. are just cards played to maintain support for everything that came after Oct 7. Don't get me wrong here, the response would had been the same even with a handful of hostages and casualties, but then it wouldn't had been this massive of a backfire for allowing the attack to unfold.

It is great that Israel did report this, but I wouldn’t say they are honest. It makes me wonder how they got hold of this report…. Possibly a Netanyahu rival? If an Israeli media was slipped this report they’d be crazy not to share it, especially if they wanted to make sure they got the scoop first.
The New York Times wrote about this foreknowledge of the attack a few months ago. So I’m not sure what you mean by Israel news being more honest than American news.

The problem was that the IDF did not know exactly where the invasion for Oct 7 will occur. Mossad and Israeli intelligence had a idea that Hamas might attack but did not know where to reinforce the troops along their border walls. The one thing that gives me pause about this is that the weapons industry sustains the entire upper middle class of Israel. With Gaza as it was, they had a captive population that they could use as a testing ground for their new weapons that they'd then sell to other countries (as "field tested"). With Gaza taken over and turned into resort property, sure that bolsters other industries/sectors but it doesn't seem like a boon for their weapons industry

While there was a long warning ahead of time that 9/11 would occur and stupidly they could have probably prevented by simply telling commercial airlines they had to improve their security to prevent the plan from being hijacked and turned into a weapon... the USA was in fact relatively on top of the terrorists who carried out the attack. The problem was the FBI thought they had things under control watching them while they had NOT YET COMMITTED ANY CRIME, so the FBI was waiting for them to buy firearms or make explosives. The terrorists outwitted the FBI because instead of using firearms and/or explosives, they used box cutters and over the counter pepper spray which no one believed would be enough to allow them to hijack a plane. Then, after 9/11 happened, the government did not want the public to know how badly they dropped the ball.
With Oct 7th, Netanyahu and Ben Gvir have wanted an all out war with the Palestinians for a very, very long time but they could not get the Israel public to support such a war. So, they began provoking Hamas to make such an attack, just look at what they were doing in the few years preceding Oct 7th, then two weeks prior to Oct 7th Netanyahu held up a map of the Middle East with the Occupied Palestinian Territory erased, being completely annexed by Israel, a feat Netanyahu could only achieve through an all out ethnic cleansing genocidal war which the Israel public would not back.

It didn't "do nothing." From what I remember, there were reports that precisely the locations that were hit had a bunch of armaments removed from the military outposts a few days prior. And there was enough buzz about a possible attack going about that the concert organizer had conferred with the IDF before Oct 7; they were told everything is fine and to proceed.
The Nova music festival was supposed to be near Tel Aviv and 2 days before the attack, they made the organizers move it down south near the Gaza wall.
Yeah, they had the plan for a year. Egypt warned them a week before. High rank Israeli military had a meeting the early hours the night before Oct 7. But they didn't warn the music festival organizers, or the kibbutz, or even the military bases apparently.

The Israeli news media is blacked out on everything (evidently). They don't even allow the soldiers to call home anymore, so families have no idea whether their IDF daughters and sons are even alive.

Moving all the troops out of that particular area knowing there was going to be a festival with an entire crowd of their citizens close to that border area fails the smell test.
