The4thSnake the preorder Cyrax in MK11 is probably just an outfit for Kano to wear like the Terminator Kano outfit because the three main DLC fighters left are Spawn, Sindel, and The Joker from the DC comics, so your rewrite of both the Old and New timelines are better than what NetherRealm Studios seems not to be good at making.

I mean how the hell does a child from Africa (hes from Botswana, located in southern Africa) become a member of a Chinese clan of thieves and assassins? what impact would this have on the kid? how do other members view an outsider in their ranks (I can see Bi Han being rather resistant to his inclusion, Sektor and him becoming close considering they were always paired and Kuai Liang viewing him is more of a brother than Bi Han...not sure about Smoke or The Grandmaster)...why does he use Pulse Blades (lightsabers)
There have been a few cases of Africans ending up as warriors in Feudal Japan and other parts of Asia, but that was mainly during the later half of the European Slave trade. Since he wouldn't have been alive then for that to happen, maybe a modern black market slave trade he was rescued from.
in mk9 he ended up hating sektor because he didnt agree with the cyber initiative, the only reason he looked like they were together was because as a cyborg he was brainwashed bc that was the only way hed do the initiative
It is actually explained that some members are kidnapped such was the case with bihan and Kuai Liang. They targeted as children for they're abilities like smoke.
The Cyber Lin Kuei have always been shown as weak. In practically every form of media (Outside comics or when the plot demands they be competent) It's ridiculous throughout. Even if that was the intention, that by failing constantly it shows how the Lin Kuei was delusional to think cyberization was their future, but proved to be their undoing, it still just makes them dumb dumbs.
AirLancer, Kuai Lang has always been shown to be more of a badass that isn’t a fucking asshole like Bi-Han is, so it makes sense as to why regardless if he’s cyberized or not he’s still a fucking badass.
Yeah that is weird. You fight both Cyrax and Sektor in the story mode I recall so they had models with movesets to use. So why they weren't on the roster is baffling.
I always tought the Cyborg characters where there to look "cool" and that's it, i really feel like they never had a sense of direction for their stories as every Cyborg is almost never important in the main stories, being relegated to a side story which only involves them or being the henchman to another character or organization. Part of this is why i think Triborg even exists, a way to have every Cyborg in the game without having to think too much of a reason for it, making fans happy cause "look, it's the character you like, we ain't doing anything interesting with him or the others but here they are"
Excellent ideas. I especially like Cyrax being in favour of the Cyber Initiative because he doesn't understand exactly what it will involve. That's a neat and original take.
6:40: I had been thinking that Kuai Liang and Bi Han was some sort of engineering and computer prodigies to explain how Noob was able to reprogram Smoke in Deception or how Kuai Liang was able to reprogram Cyrax in 3, or hack into Sektor’s database in X. Like maybe they went to school for this stuff to add to their repertoires and make them more efficient killers, like how Stringer Bell in The Wire takes business classes to make him a more efficient drug dealer.
If Bo'Rai Cho was turned into a cyborg he would be mk's equivalent to Bender Rodriguez. Also if the grand master wasn't captured by the soulnado wouldn't that mean he was was a chosen warrior or did he make a deal with Khan prior to his invasion?
I don't recall any reason as to why that happened in canon, but there is a very good still on-going fan-made MK TH-cam series called Mortal Kombat: Reconciliation which is basically a fan-made retelling of MK3 with some changes to the pre-established lore (alongside some Dragon Ball and Sonic aesthetic), where lots of the background characters are actually given much more to do and tgey get more fleshed out, one of those characters being the Lin Quei Grandmaster. I highly recommend the series, it's pretty good.
You know the funny thing about Cyrax being more against the Cyber initiative in the new timeline is that on top of that he's also unable to live with being a cyborg. Those are both Smoke's character traits, and I get the feeling they shifted this to Cyrax because in this time line they never had smoke converted. Also I think they might have retroactively fliped bi han and kuai liangs views on tech even during the original timeline given that noob ends up reprogramming smoke when he finds him during the events of deception
@@heitorzincleiton5071 he's not suicidal. It's that he feels that his existence is unnecessary if he can't recover who he was. Something that really needs to be made a distinction of is that in the original timeline Cyrax didn't get his Humanity back until that mk4 ending. The only reason he even wanted to go through the process was because he had flashbacks where he remembered parts of his past and he didn't actually get all of his memories back until that ending. It's not that he wants to die and is suicidal, it's that he thinks it's worth the risk of dying to go through with the procedure to get back his memories and humanity. It was Smoke's story that he felt trapped in a cyborg body and that he was converted unwillingly. Cyrax went with it out of loyalty to the clan and didn't question it until after the fact.

The biggest thing I have taken away from your MK vids is that nether realm needs to form a story groop out of disgruntled MK nerds to come up with an ambitious long turm story to tell over several games for the reboot.
Honestly, this is the best idea ever lol. If NRS doesn't care about the quality or consistency of their story and characters, why not let the people who DO take care of those elements while y'all have ur fun with the gameplay and customization?
You could have a giant wasted potential on the simple aspect of playing as the villain in story mode sections. Imagine this if you will just with MK11: Kronika is an elder god, not a titan, but she is a substantially old one and can still keep her family relationship with Cetrion and Shinnok. This would mean in Kombat, she would normally fight/be on par with Cetrion and Shinnok, though may be a bit more like Ermac's MK11 fighting style where she seemingly never touches her opponent. Regardless, her role is to watch over the timeline(s) and normally just wanting to avoid a massive armageddon style fuckup. However, she ends up going insane from various things having happened that lead to different armageddons, thus the awakening of The One Being, and so she keeps resetting the timeline and the constant rewinding leads her to being a nutjob in the current timeline. Now lets alter how her powers are used; when we fight her, she has the power of both Cetrion and the crown and the power of the hourglass. If she doesn't have all that on her, again, she's in the same "power" range as the other elder gods we know of. So lets do this: The story starts the same and the raid on the Netherrealm takes place with the player bouncing between Cassie, Jacqui, even Sonya. Things finally change when, out of nowhere, Geras shows up and suddenly the player is using him in a fight vs Sonya. Upon defeating Sonya, a fight that causes part of the temple to crumble and pin Sonya down, she hits the bomb timer, then Geras kills her by using his "Paused in Time" brutality, which sees every aspect of her being disintegrated into sands. Have these sands help power the hourglass and thus, enhance what Kronika can do, so she needs the energy of chosen warriors to kickstart the rewind. Kronika shows up after the temple is destroyed, but Emperor Liu Kang and Empress Kitana are too pissed to give her the time of day after their loss and attack her. Commence THE PLAYER using Kronika to fight a tag team of Liu Kang and Kitana (maybe with the added effect that The player is quite literally unable to lose due to an infinite timer and her HP never reaching zero). In this situation, Kronika is vulnerable to grabs and fatal blows and doesn't have the boss armor, thus feeling more like a typical fighter. After she proves her superiority to them, she then shows part of her power and rewinds the temple to it's state before destruction and promises them a "seat at her table" if they obey her. Now, when she perform's the time crash of MK2 running into MK11, it's somewhat sloppy, because the only chosen warrior she had at the time was Sonya but her power was enough. THIS DOESN'T NUKE EVIL RAIDEN (more on that in a bit). As the storyline takes place, older versions of characters are specifically targeted by Kronika and Geras due to them having "more powerful souls", thus more power to the hourglass when reduced to sands for it. We get some fun interactions of Old and Young characters meeting themselves, but then this is broken up by Geras' assaults; while the player may be playing as a hero, every time Geras shows up, you play as him and defeat a hero, which leads to them being turned to sand. Literally only Cutscene power is able to slow him down, as befitting his character. Old Johnny is slain before Cassie and Young Sonya literally pin Geras to a wall and blow him to pieces. Geras is enhanced after that, becoming the masked Geras at the endgame. Raiden and Dark Raiden eventually meet up, but butt heads over what should be done; Dark Raiden thinks that Shao Kahn's savagery could work against Kronika, whereas Good Raiden think's he's insane. Evil Raiden thinks the time merger is good and can help stock their numbers while Good Raiden feels that allegiances changed too much and the frailty of a past character dying kills off their present self is too much of a gamble. Kronika throws a monkey wrench into the whole thing as the various slain heroes gave her enough power to even fuck with a god and near the end of the story is where she nukes evil raiden with time shenanigans, but only AFTER she beats him in Kombat with the player using Kronika once again in a fight that you can't lose. This has the effect of casting doubt on Raiden; why not nuke his younger self? Why would she only take out his evil self and his corrupted views? Raiden starts to think that maybe his dark side had a point and was a threat to Kronika, and thus he starts getting more aggressive and stops seeming like the mentor Liu Kang could always trust. I could go on but I think I ranted enough here to get my point across: Kronika and Geras could be much more but are poorly used and Kronika is given a title (A Titan) that has no purpose in MK lore.
Huh. I guess there is some interesting irony in Sub-Zero supporting the Lin Kuei cyberization project only to have it end up hurting two of his friends. Speaking of friends, I was wondering if it would be interesting to have Cyrax and Sektor start out as friends but fall out when the former realizes what the cyberization project is really about. I'm also curious if MK could pull an antagonist of human creation like an evil AI instead of the standard evil sorcerer or god.
Who else agrees the Cyber Lin Kuei could be main antagonist material? I'm sort of bored with "evil overlord wants to conquer everything". Would be a great change of pace
The Cyborgs are my favourite... they did them fucking dirty in MKX (which was literally why Triborg was created so the OG Trio was "sorta" in that game) and *ESPECIALLY* MK11 where they're the only NPC characters you can fight. *STOP FUCKING THE CYBORGS OVER, NRS! THEY DESERVE AS MUCH CARE AS CHARACTERS LIKE SCORPION, RAIDEN, LIU KANG, ETC.!*
I feel like they could’ve used Triborg for cyrax’s character in some sort of way. Maybe both sektor and cyrax try to fight over it as it maybe some sort of key to restoring him back to his original form. I mean they had to use magic to create some op cyborg like triborg. Perhaps, there may be hidden magic we don’t know in the cyber lin kuei and u can have cyrax unravelling them. That’s just my idea
I actually really like your take on cyrax wanting to be cyberized. And having him be the one that helps others with restoring limbs and the like. That could actually fit into the story well. For the gear pieces they added into mk11 it could be him that gives you them. And something added to the story where Jax gets upgrades from the ninjas like a grenade launcher inside his arm for enhanced mobility. Wow they fucked up not going about it that way
It’s not really the video for this but during MK11’s time before release and the “Old School Vs New School” trailer. I had an idea where the time merger brings Bi-Han from MK1, before he has become Noob Saibot. Him and Kuai Liang would’ve worked together Instead of Scorpion. If they had used this it would establish their relationship before his corruption making Noob Saibot a better character knowing his relationship with Kuai Liang. And even better he could work with Kuai Liang to save his future Self but once realizing he is a lost cause, he helps Kuai Liang kill Noob Saibot.
His role in the rebooted timeline showed a little more conflict in his defiance of the cyber initiative. Wether or not it was fleshed our effectively is up for debate, I’ll give you that. But it did have some purpose. It showed more of how he didn’t want to become a cyborg; especially for newcomers to the series. I dint really care for the character anyway but...
They could have had him fight against his programming and try to regain his humanity and free will. Instead he's just forcibly roboticised offscreen and becomes a henchman.
Fastest Hedgehog to be fair mortal kombat already technically rebooted there continuity way back in mortal kombat 9 but hey it wouldn’t be the first time mk change there continuity if anything I think mk11 will probably keep everything the same except Liu kang and kitanna will be the ones in charge of the hourglass.
They really dropped the ball with Cyrax and pretty much everyone that were associated with Lin Kuei. I expected Cyrax to have some bigger role in MK11 but he just vanishes when they could have shown him assisting Sub-Zero and Scorpion in some way rather than sacrifice himself and not seeing again. I can't wait for Kuai Liang wasted potential. Like Cyrax, Kuai Liang does barely anything in story wise. They don't even show him react to Hanzo's death after he became allies with him. They could have scene with Kuai mourning over Hanzo's death and having interesting conversation with Past Scorpion where he tells about the events behind the friction between both clans including the deaths of Shirai Ryu and Hanzo's family, but no. He doesn't even get moment with his brother, Bi-Han or Frost, but instead Raiden gets to defeat her. A person that she barely knows, it should have been Sub-Zero. I guess NRS main hobby is character assassination. Great job the video, 4thSnake 👏💪:)

Man, having Triborg come back and actually be in the story as a suped up Sektor, becoming the culmination of all four cyborg characters and heading the Tekunin would've been nice, especially in MK11's customization system. Meanwhile you could diversify Cyrax's moveset to make him play a bit more distinctly from his past self, as well as possibly give him some of Ronin Takeda's moves like the wrist beam swords and such

Like the Cyrax bomb would be inert, but you can upgrade it to be a smoke bomb, and ice bomb, or Sektor's rocket. You can get Sektor's flamethrower, his teleport, Smoke's spear, Sub-Zero's slide or ice sword combo, Cyrax's net. There'd be SO many options
Since I'm not really sure where else to ask this, thoughts on them CONSTANTLY bringing up the Tekunin as a cheap reference, then just... never doing anything with it? It's always felt like a faction that could have gone somewhere to bring back old characters in interesting new ways, (Cyber Hydro maybe?) but instead we just got... barely Cyber Frost who felt more like a fetish thing, and never follow up on Triborg's existence. Yayyy...
I’ve never actually gotten to play an MK game before but started learning about the lore by looking up bios and cutscenes from the original timeline games. After doing that I found that for some reason Cyrax was one of my favorite characters. I don’t know why but he kind of is, at least his story is one of my favorites. It’s a shame to see that the nether realm trilogy wasted him
I add a bit to original era of Midway. Sektor and Cyrax is just nicknames, like Sub-Zero; so I think, it could be interesting, if they actually have a names Muchen for Sektor and Yuze for Cyrax. Imagine, if these two alongside with Bi-Han actually been childhood friends, although Sektor was a d*ck, because of his father was grandmaster of clan. After many years, these three grown up and their fates started changing: Bi-Han become more demanding of Kuai Liang and less friendly to his friends (especially to Sektor, whos father always sending him to dangerous missions, because of Bi-Han powers); Sektor become more sinister and paranoid, which gives him idea about cyber Initiative that he lately heard from his father; and Cyrax become as mindful teacher for Smoke. After events of MK Mythologies, Bi-Han asking his friends about retirement, which these two actually agreeing with him and decide to help as all they can; but hearing that Bi-Han was defeated, both took this news in different ways, Cyrax accepted the fate of a friend and in his honor, decided to continue training his younger brother. Sector became even more paranoid, and began the process of cybernetisation much ahead of schedule, which led to the fact that the grandmaster who served Shao Kang made the Lin Kuei warriors weak-willed pawns for the emperor. Before events of MK3, Cyrax found out about situation and tried to save Sub-Zero II and Smoke, but only be captured alongside with Smoke. Rest is pretty much same, only Cyrax, after he began working with SF, still trying to save Smoke from being cyborg. As for Sektor, he managed to regain control and then returns to his father, only to kill him and get his place; he realized that his body is too powerful and invincible, so now he just needs to destroy his former clan and start his own. In Armageddon, these two has finally met each other. At the end of their final battle, Sektor defeat Cyrax and ripped his heart, only to be blow up by Cyrax's bomb, which would lead to all his cyborgs being turned off. Why? Because Sektor thought about collective mind, one machine controlling everyone else on big distances.
I would've just liked to seen different perspectives on the cyber initiative instead of more than one person have the same point of view and outcome. In Mk9 it would've been interesting to see something like this: Bi Han: Against it, Knows what will happen during it, thinks that cyberization is a disgrace against tradition, Dies before initiative, turns into Noob Saibot, kills Cyber Sub Zero Sektor: For it, Knows what will happen, turns into cyborg, captures Cyrax after finding out what actually happens, Kills Smoke During invasion Cyrax: For it, Doesn't know what will happen, finds out eventually, warns Kuai Liang,captured by Sektor, forced into cyborization Smoke: Against it, doesn't know what will happen, only member to escape cyberization, saves Kuai Liang, gets help from Earthrealm members to restore Kuai Liang's freewill, gets invaded by Sektor, Cyrax and the rest of the Lin Kuei, Killed by Sektor while trying to hold off Lin Kuei cyborgs, becomes revent Kuai Liang: For it, knows what will happen and he thinks he needs an "upgrade" as he is currently not as powerful of a cryomancer as his brother, doesn't know that his freewill will be taken from him, warned by Cyrax but doesn't listen ,decides to turn into a cyborg, controlled by Lin Kuei but eventually freed by Smoke, realises that cyborization was a shit idea, watches Smoke be killed by Sektor, Eventually killed by Bi Han who is now Noob while Bi Han says he is a "Disgusting display of his beliefs" Still kinda shit but at least it doesn't cram one personality for two people each.
I was disappointed that he was not in the game. One of my favorite characters next to sektor smoke and many others. I also hope that in the second kombat pack for Mk11 we'll get to finally play as Rain.
So when you do these you’re intending these to go into go into the extended lore right? Not to say having this in the games wouldn’t be cool but even I as a writer have to admit that it seems a bit overwhelming to put it all in the game. Honestly, at this point the only way we're ever going to see another MK title is if the writers just completely undo this new trilogupy and start again (having hopefully learned their lesson)
Pretty sure starting over is their only option after 11's ending. Who knows though. 11 completely disregarded everything set up in X, so it wouldn't be the first time they just threw away the previous game's ending
not sure about that triborg sektor existential crisis plot. triborg/quadborg is already the combination of 4 digitized consciences so they dont even believed they died cause theyre copied to other units and theyre robots.. the tekunin is when sektor was at his best giving triborg a identity would make him better or make him more ultron like. him being hydro would be a nice plot twist.

Lin Kuei has the coolest characters Sub Zero Cyrax Sektor Smoke Noob Saibot if you count him and all of them are very cool but thanks to the story they are jobbers or sidekicks
I had no idea until now that Cyrax and Sektor in MK11 were from the original timeline, I just assumed that they were the current timeline versions but they didn't appear in MKX because they had no room in the story. The fact that it either wasn't immediately obvious for the entire duration of the chapter, or that I was so checked out by Chapter 4 that I wasn't paying enough attention are not good things for your cinematic story mode.

I mean how the hell does a child from Africa (hes from Botswana, located in southern Africa) become a member of a Chinese clan of thieves and assassins? what impact would this have on the kid? how do other members view an outsider in their ranks (I can see Bi Han being rather resistant to his inclusion, Sektor and him becoming close considering they were always paired and Kuai Liang viewing him is more of a brother than Bi Han...not sure about Smoke or The Grandmaster)...why does he use Pulse Blades (lightsabers)
There have been a few cases of Africans ending up as warriors in Feudal Japan and other parts of Asia, but that was mainly during the later half of the European Slave trade. Since he wouldn't have been alive then for that to happen, maybe a modern black market slave trade he was rescued from.

It is actually explained that some members are kidnapped such was the case with bihan and Kuai Liang. They targeted as children for they're abilities like smoke.
The Cyber Lin Kuei have always been shown as weak. In practically every form of media (Outside comics or when the plot demands they be competent) It's ridiculous throughout. Even if that was the intention, that by failing constantly it shows how the Lin Kuei was delusional to think cyberization was their future, but proved to be their undoing, it still just makes them dumb dumbs.

Yeah that is weird. You fight both Cyrax and Sektor in the story mode I recall so they had models with movesets to use. So why they weren't on the roster is baffling.
Cyrax and Sektor literally have ingame models and movesets in MK11 but aren't playable. Its Rain and Baraka in MKX all over again.
It would have been ironic if Tobias DID save Kuai Liang's tech fascination detail on a computer.
I always tought the Cyborg characters where there to look "cool" and that's it, i really feel like they never had a sense of direction for their stories as every Cyborg is almost never important in the main stories, being relegated to a side story which only involves them or being the henchman to another character or organization.
Part of this is why i think Triborg even exists, a way to have every Cyborg in the game without having to think too much of a reason for it, making fans happy cause "look, it's the character you like, we ain't doing anything interesting with him or the others but here they are"
Excellent ideas. I especially like Cyrax being in favour of the Cyber Initiative because he doesn't understand exactly what it will involve. That's a neat and original take.

6:40: I had been thinking that Kuai Liang and Bi Han was some sort of engineering and computer prodigies to explain how Noob was able to reprogram Smoke in Deception or how Kuai Liang was able to reprogram Cyrax in 3, or hack into Sektor’s database in X. Like maybe they went to school for this stuff to add to their repertoires and make them more efficient killers, like how Stringer Bell in The Wire takes business classes to make him a more efficient drug dealer.
If Bo'Rai Cho was turned into a cyborg he would be mk's equivalent to Bender Rodriguez. Also if the grand master wasn't captured by the soulnado wouldn't that mean he was was a chosen warrior or did he make a deal with Khan prior to his invasion?
I don't recall any reason as to why that happened in canon, but there is a very good still on-going fan-made MK TH-cam series called Mortal Kombat: Reconciliation which is basically a fan-made retelling of MK3 with some changes to the pre-established lore (alongside some Dragon Ball and Sonic aesthetic), where lots of the background characters are actually given much more to do and tgey get more fleshed out, one of those characters being the Lin Quei Grandmaster. I highly recommend the series, it's pretty good.
You know the funny thing about Cyrax being more against the Cyber initiative in the new timeline is that on top of that he's also unable to live with being a cyborg. Those are both Smoke's character traits, and I get the feeling they shifted this to Cyrax because in this time line they never had smoke converted.
Also I think they might have retroactively fliped bi han and kuai liangs views on tech even during the original timeline given that noob ends up reprogramming smoke when he finds him during the events of deception

@@heitorzincleiton5071 he's not suicidal. It's that he feels that his existence is unnecessary if he can't recover who he was. Something that really needs to be made a distinction of is that in the original timeline Cyrax didn't get his Humanity back until that mk4 ending. The only reason he even wanted to go through the process was because he had flashbacks where he remembered parts of his past and he didn't actually get all of his memories back until that ending. It's not that he wants to die and is suicidal, it's that he thinks it's worth the risk of dying to go through with the procedure to get back his memories and humanity. It was Smoke's story that he felt trapped in a cyborg body and that he was converted unwillingly. Cyrax went with it out of loyalty to the clan and didn't question it until after the fact.

I think Cyrax is a great character but his story needs to be expanded more along with a more improved chapter run

You could have a giant wasted potential on the simple aspect of playing as the villain in story mode sections. Imagine this if you will just with MK11:
Kronika is an elder god, not a titan, but she is a substantially old one and can still keep her family relationship with Cetrion and Shinnok. This would mean in Kombat, she would normally fight/be on par with Cetrion and Shinnok, though may be a bit more like Ermac's MK11 fighting style where she seemingly never touches her opponent. Regardless, her role is to watch over the timeline(s) and normally just wanting to avoid a massive armageddon style fuckup. However, she ends up going insane from various things having happened that lead to different armageddons, thus the awakening of The One Being, and so she keeps resetting the timeline and the constant rewinding leads her to being a nutjob in the current timeline.
Now lets alter how her powers are used; when we fight her, she has the power of both Cetrion and the crown and the power of the hourglass. If she doesn't have all that on her, again, she's in the same "power" range as the other elder gods we know of. So lets do this:
The story starts the same and the raid on the Netherrealm takes place with the player bouncing between Cassie, Jacqui, even Sonya. Things finally change when, out of nowhere, Geras shows up and suddenly the player is using him in a fight vs Sonya. Upon defeating Sonya, a fight that causes part of the temple to crumble and pin Sonya down, she hits the bomb timer, then Geras kills her by using his "Paused in Time" brutality, which sees every aspect of her being disintegrated into sands. Have these sands help power the hourglass and thus, enhance what Kronika can do, so she needs the energy of chosen warriors to kickstart the rewind.
Kronika shows up after the temple is destroyed, but Emperor Liu Kang and Empress Kitana are too pissed to give her the time of day after their loss and attack her. Commence THE PLAYER using Kronika to fight a tag team of Liu Kang and Kitana (maybe with the added effect that The player is quite literally unable to lose due to an infinite timer and her HP never reaching zero). In this situation, Kronika is vulnerable to grabs and fatal blows and doesn't have the boss armor, thus feeling more like a typical fighter. After she proves her superiority to them, she then shows part of her power and rewinds the temple to it's state before destruction and promises them a "seat at her table" if they obey her.
Now, when she perform's the time crash of MK2 running into MK11, it's somewhat sloppy, because the only chosen warrior she had at the time was Sonya but her power was enough. THIS DOESN'T NUKE EVIL RAIDEN (more on that in a bit). As the storyline takes place, older versions of characters are specifically targeted by Kronika and Geras due to them having "more powerful souls", thus more power to the hourglass when reduced to sands for it. We get some fun interactions of Old and Young characters meeting themselves, but then this is broken up by Geras' assaults; while the player may be playing as a hero, every time Geras shows up, you play as him and defeat a hero, which leads to them being turned to sand. Literally only Cutscene power is able to slow him down, as befitting his character. Old Johnny is slain before Cassie and Young Sonya literally pin Geras to a wall and blow him to pieces. Geras is enhanced after that, becoming the masked Geras at the endgame.
Raiden and Dark Raiden eventually meet up, but butt heads over what should be done; Dark Raiden thinks that Shao Kahn's savagery could work against Kronika, whereas Good Raiden think's he's insane. Evil Raiden thinks the time merger is good and can help stock their numbers while Good Raiden feels that allegiances changed too much and the frailty of a past character dying kills off their present self is too much of a gamble. Kronika throws a monkey wrench into the whole thing as the various slain heroes gave her enough power to even fuck with a god and near the end of the story is where she nukes evil raiden with time shenanigans, but only AFTER she beats him in Kombat with the player using Kronika once again in a fight that you can't lose. This has the effect of casting doubt on Raiden; why not nuke his younger self? Why would she only take out his evil self and his corrupted views? Raiden starts to think that maybe his dark side had a point and was a threat to Kronika, and thus he starts getting more aggressive and stops seeming like the mentor Liu Kang could always trust.
I could go on but I think I ranted enough here to get my point across: Kronika and Geras could be much more but are poorly used and Kronika is given a title (A Titan) that has no purpose in MK lore.
Huh. I guess there is some interesting irony in Sub-Zero supporting the Lin Kuei cyberization project only to have it end up hurting two of his friends.
Speaking of friends, I was wondering if it would be interesting to have Cyrax and Sektor start out as friends but fall out when the former realizes what the cyberization project is really about.
I'm also curious if MK could pull an antagonist of human creation like an evil AI instead of the standard evil sorcerer or god.
Who else agrees the Cyber Lin Kuei could be main antagonist material? I'm sort of bored with "evil overlord wants to conquer everything". Would be a great change of pace

The Cyborgs are my favourite... they did them fucking dirty in MKX (which was literally why Triborg was created so the OG Trio was "sorta" in that game) and *ESPECIALLY* MK11 where they're the only NPC characters you can fight. *STOP FUCKING THE CYBORGS OVER, NRS! I feel like they could’ve used Triborg for cyrax’s character in some sort of way. Maybe both sektor and cyrax try to fight over it as it maybe some sort of key to restoring him back to his original form. I mean they had to use magic to create some op cyborg like triborg. Perhaps, there may be hidden magic we don’t know in the cyber lin kuei and u can have cyrax unravelling them. That’s just my idea
I actually really like your take on cyrax wanting to be cyberized. And having him be the one that helps others with restoring limbs and the like. That could actually fit into the story well. For the gear pieces they added into mk11 it could be him that gives you them. And something added to the story where Jax gets upgrades from the ninjas like a grenade launcher inside his arm for enhanced mobility. Wow they fucked up not going about it that way
I feel bad for Cyrax and Sektor. It’s sad. I hate how he isn’t playable in MK11. Same with Sektor. They both have End of round taunts too!
It’s not really the video for this but during MK11’s time before release and the “Old School Vs New School” trailer. I had an idea where the time merger brings Bi-Han from MK1, before he has become Noob Saibot. Him and Kuai Liang would’ve worked together Instead of Scorpion. If they had used this it would establish their relationship before his corruption making Noob Saibot a better character knowing his relationship with Kuai Liang. And even better he could work with Kuai Liang to save his future Self but once realizing he is a lost cause, he helps Kuai Liang kill Noob Saibot.

His role in the rebooted timeline showed a little more conflict in his defiance of the cyber initiative. Wether or not it was fleshed our effectively is up for debate, I’ll give you that. But it did have some purpose. It showed more of how he didn’t want to become a cyborg; especially for newcomers to the series. I dint really care for the character anyway but...
I remember the time the community hated the concept of cyborg ‘ninjas’ . I miss those days.
They could have had him fight against his programming and try to regain his humanity and free will. Instead he's just forcibly roboticised offscreen and becomes a henchman.

They really dropped the ball with Cyrax and pretty much everyone that were associated with Lin Kuei. I expected Cyrax to have some bigger role in MK11 but he just vanishes when they could have shown him assisting Sub-Zero and Scorpion in some way rather than sacrifice himself and not seeing again. I can't wait for Kuai Liang wasted potential. Like Cyrax, Kuai Liang does barely anything in story wise. They don't even show him react to Hanzo's death after he became allies with him. They could have scene with Kuai mourning over Hanzo's death and having interesting conversation with Past Scorpion where he tells about the events behind the friction between both clans including the deaths of Shirai Ryu and Hanzo's family, but no. He doesn't even get moment with his brother, Bi-Han or Frost, but instead Raiden gets to defeat her. A person that she barely knows, it should have been Sub-Zero. I guess NRS main hobby is character assassination. Great job the video, 4thSnake 👏💪:)

Man, having Triborg come back and actually be in the story as a suped up Sektor, becoming the culmination of all four cyborg characters and heading the Tekunin would've been nice, especially in MK11's customization system. Meanwhile you could diversify Cyrax's moveset to make him play a bit more distinctly from his past self, as well as possibly give him some of Ronin Takeda's moves like the wrist beam swords and such
Imagine being able to customise his moveset to be an existing cyber, or an amalgamation with moves from each.

Like the Cyrax bomb would be inert, but you can upgrade it to be a smoke bomb, and ice bomb, or Sektor's rocket. You can get Sektor's flamethrower, his teleport, Smoke's spear, Sub-Zero's slide or ice sword combo, Cyrax's net. There'd be SO many options

Since I'm not really sure where else to ask this, thoughts on them CONSTANTLY bringing up the Tekunin as a cheap reference, then just... never doing anything with it? It's always felt like a faction that could have gone somewhere to bring back old characters in interesting new ways, (Cyber Hydro maybe?) but instead we just got... barely Cyber Frost who felt more like a fetish thing, and never follow up on Triborg's existence. Yayyy...

I’ve never actually gotten to play an MK game before but started learning about the lore by looking up bios and cutscenes from the original timeline games. After doing that I found that for some reason Cyrax was one of my favorite characters. I don’t know why but he kind of is, at least his story is one of my favorites. It’s a shame to see that the nether realm trilogy wasted him
I add a bit to original era of Midway. Sektor and Cyrax is just nicknames, like Sub-Zero; so I think, it could be interesting, if they actually have a names Muchen for Sektor and Yuze for Cyrax. Imagine, if these two alongside with Bi-Han actually been childhood friends, although Sektor was a d*ck, because of his father was grandmaster of clan. After many years, these three grown up and their fates started changing: Bi-Han become more demanding of Kuai Liang and less friendly to his friends (especially to Sektor, whos father always sending him to dangerous missions, because of Bi-Han powers); Sektor become more sinister and paranoid, which gives him idea about cyber Initiative that he lately heard from his father; and Cyrax become as mindful teacher for Smoke. After events of MK Mythologies, Bi-Han asking his friends about retirement, which these two actually agreeing with him and decide to help as all they can; but hearing that Bi-Han was defeated, both took this news in different ways, Cyrax accepted the fate of a friend and in his honor, decided to continue training his younger brother. Sector became even more paranoid, and began the process of cybernetisation much ahead of schedule, which led to the fact that the grandmaster who served Shao Kang made the Lin Kuei warriors weak-willed pawns for the emperor.
Before events of MK3, Cyrax found out about situation and tried to save Sub-Zero II and Smoke, but only be captured alongside with Smoke. Rest is pretty much same, only Cyrax, after he began working with SF, still trying to save Smoke from being cyborg. As for Sektor, he managed to regain control and then returns to his father, only to kill him and get his place; he realized that his body is too powerful and invincible, so now he just needs to destroy his former clan and start his own.
In Armageddon, these two has finally met each other. At the end of their final battle, Sektor defeat Cyrax and ripped his heart, only to be blow up by Cyrax's bomb, which would lead to all his cyborgs being turned off. Why? Because Sektor thought about collective mind, one machine controlling everyone else on big distances.
I would've just liked to seen different perspectives on the cyber initiative instead of more than one person have the same point of view and outcome. In Mk9 it would've been interesting to see something like this:
Bi Han: Against it, Knows what will happen during it, thinks that cyberization is a disgrace against tradition, Dies before initiative, turns into Noob Saibot, kills Cyber Sub Zero
Sektor: For it, Knows what will happen, turns into cyborg, captures Cyrax after finding out what actually happens, Kills Smoke During invasion
Cyrax: For it, Doesn't know what will happen, finds out eventually, warns Kuai Liang,captured by Sektor, forced into cyborization
Smoke: Against it, doesn't know what will happen, only member to escape cyberization, saves Kuai Liang, gets help from Earthrealm members to restore Kuai Liang's freewill, gets invaded by Sektor, Cyrax and the rest of the Lin Kuei, Killed by Sektor while trying to hold off Lin Kuei cyborgs, becomes revent
Kuai Liang: For it, knows what will happen and he thinks he needs an "upgrade" as he is currently not as powerful of a cryomancer as his brother, doesn't know that his freewill will be taken from him, warned by Cyrax but doesn't listen ,decides to turn into a cyborg, controlled by Lin Kuei but eventually freed by Smoke, realises that cyborization was a shit idea, watches Smoke be killed by Sektor, Eventually killed by Bi Han who is now Noob while Bi Han says he is a "Disgusting display of his beliefs"
Still kinda shit but at least it doesn't cram one personality for two people each.

I was disappointed that he was not in the game. One of my favorite characters next to sektor smoke and many others. I also hope that in the second kombat pack for Mk11 we'll get to finally play as Rain.

So when you do these you’re intending these to go into go into the extended lore right? Not to say having this in the games wouldn’t be cool but even I as a writer have to admit that it seems a bit overwhelming to put it all in the game. Honestly, at this point the only way we're ever going to see another MK title is if the writers just completely undo this new trilogupy and start again (having hopefully learned their lesson)

not sure about that triborg sektor existential crisis plot. triborg/quadborg is already the combination of 4 digitized consciences so they dont even believed they died cause theyre copied to other units and theyre robots..
the tekunin is when sektor was at his best
giving triborg a identity would make him better or make him more ultron like.

Lin Kuei has the coolest characters Sub Zero Cyrax Sektor Smoke Noob Saibot if you count him and all of them are very cool but thanks to the story they are jobbers or sidekicks

I had no idea until now that Cyrax and Sektor in MK11 were from the original timeline, I just assumed that they were the current timeline versions but they didn't appear in MKX because they had no room in the story. The fact that it either wasn't immediately obvious for the entire duration of the chapter, or that I was so checked out by Chapter 4 that I wasn't paying enough attention are not good things for your cinematic story mode.
