I`m surprised they did not get their brooms out and sweep the road and carry on driving.

Vehicles stopped on both sides of the road so nobody could move is more terrifying. In the end, negligent behaviour is an equal danger to oneself. Being a constant risk around others will sooner or later get you a Darwin award, particularly in an emergency, when their own survival is also at risk.

People call earthquakes, tornadoes etc. disasters. But you can't deny the incredibleness of these natural occurances. Imagine the energy it's required to shake that much mass

I have experienced many mini quakes but in November last year I experienced a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and I am on reclaimed land on the second story of an old timber house. It was very scary lol I got a little traumatised from it to be honest

My thought was, "I hope they know how to swim" because they were only in about 3' of water which could mean they might not have known how to. If the guys couldn't swim I imagine it was terrifying. If they'd been thrust against the curbing on the top rim of the pool they might have been killed.

People: The last thing that you should do during an earthquake is run outside. The best practice is to get in a doorway or underneath a desk or table.

    • @Anna_Stetik
      @Anna_Stetik 7 ปีที่แล้ว

You are wrong. On everything. I have been in several earthquakes. You do NOT run outside. You get under something sturdy, or you get in a doorjamb. But you go ahead and run outside like the dumbass that you are, and watch as pieces of building or glass kill you.

Here, disphit: "Running is one of the most dangerous things you can do," explained Brian Humphrey, Spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department and a previous Community Emergency Response Team instructor. "People can lose their lives when they run, especially when windows or glass mirrors are near. You should duck, cover and hold.""
Feel free to read the rest and educate your idiotic self.

Good thing most of the people in those areas are in good shape and can move quickly in a quake. If that happened in the US some many people would be screwed.

Those watery cracks would freak me out more than falling rocks and shaking buildings.
Thankfully where I live the biggest natural danger is 120° summers. And there's air conditioning for that.

It looks like being in a pool when an earthquake strikes would not be easy to deal with. The water kept flowing from one side to the next continuously.

I was under the impression doorways were the best place to be in a earthquake but I think if this video proves anything it's that the best place to be is in a pool.

Stayed 23 days in Japan. And guess what, I experienced 4 earthquakes in just 23 days!

The highest magnitude earthquake that I have experienced was 6.9 and it was terrifying...8 pointers would be traumatizing

Largest for me was a 4.5 and it scared me badly. I felt a few tremors for the next day or so and each one, although much less shaking than the 4.5 made me think here it comes again...

The scary thing for me is that here in Italy we have the same problem as Japan (obviously in a smaller scale) but we didn't build antiseismic buildings rather we build with sand and the effect are evident... L'Aquila....

5:40, that is not a pipe that is broken, that is soil liquefaction (a phenomenon whereby a saturated or partially saturated soilsubstantially loses strength and stiffness in response to an applied stress, usually earthquake shaking or other sudden change in stress condition, causingit to behave like a liquid).

It's amazing to see the inertia of water in swimming pool. You thing nothing moving at first, then, when the earthquake stop, all the water move after absorbed the energy of the shockwave !! Really surprising.
