  • The Sauce, making homemade New Haven style pizza sauce
Ingredients used in this video to make 24oz. of chunky homemade pizza sauce. Enough for 3 large pizzas. All of the ingredients can be found at any Super Walmart.
2 x 28oz. cans of Cento Imported Italian San Marzano Whole Peeled Plumb Tomatoes, using the tomatoes only, not the puree.
1.5 teaspoons of fine sea salt, you can adjust to your liking.
A few pinches of dried oregano. Be careful not to use old oregano as it can destroy the taste. If the oregano has turned yellow throw it out. Even though it is dried, it should still be green.
This is part 2 of a 6 part video tutorial on making homemade New Haven style pizza "Apizza". Be sure to check out all 6 parts and check out my reddit pizza profile for lots of photos and more information about making homemade New Haven style pizza.

    Hi
I don't have access to these canned tomatoes and I want to know how much those tomatoes have been cooked?
They don't seem to be raw

Not sure how they get the skins off the tomatoes before they get sealed in the cans. Maybe they get boiled for a few seconds to remove the skin but that's about it. Thry are basically raw and I don't cook the sauce before it goes on the pizza.

I toss it down the drain where it belongs. Sure you can make some overly acidic southern Italian American style sauce for some unhealthy Americanized dish like spageti and meat balls or chicken parm but you would only be eating terrible food and perpetulating bad steriotypes.
