  • We wanted to simplify the launch and retrieval process. The lever style straps from the transom to the trailer worked okay, but was a hassle at times. Putting them back on involved finding them and then getting the right length adjustment to be secure. Take a look at how ten minutes of your time will change them to something that takes only seconds for launch or retrieval. Check out surprise use tip at end of video.
    Referenced parts can be found at "www.basspro.com" and the two parts are:
    43" Retractable transom Tie down SKU 2457207 @ $59.99
    BoatBuckle Unversal Mounting Bracket Kit SKU 1018885 @ $14.99
    Hope this helps, let us know. Like and Subscribe

    Thank you Sir for the video. Bought my Tracker TXW-TE 195 last year and have been wanting to do this install. Didn't even know about the brackets, so thanks for that. Question for you and other Tracker owners: Do your storage compartments on your Tracker(s) leak?? Mine do/did, so I'm in the process of using tubes of RTV to waterproof them. A couple of the hatch gaskets even have about a one inch separation between the ends. Seems to be an issue with this brand of boat. My Pathfinder bay boat never leaked, but it was a more expensive boat with apparently better attention to detail. Tracker, if your listening, you need to improve!!

    Does this bracket not bend when tension is placed on the strap? It seems like it would bend/give allot with the kind of tension required to hold anything stronger than an aluminum boat.?. 🤷🏻‍♂️🇨🇦

    • @lmbfishingclub4013
      @lmbfishingclub4013  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bracket is made of a roughly 1/4 inch steel alloy. There is no give to the bracket. Hope this helps.

    John - very helpful video. my only question was on having to drill a hole in the right position on the trailer frame and making sure boat buckle does not block to any extent the trailer tail lights (in case of a stop by the law).

    • @lmbfishingclub4013
      @lmbfishingclub4013  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was no drilling required. The adapter bracket fastens directly to the boat buckle and the hole that the lever strap hooked into. Not to worry, there was no obstruction of any of the lighting.

    My first thought is that it wont last long in saltwater. You did a good job of explaining how to install though.

    • @lmbfishingclub4013
      @lmbfishingclub4013  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I live in the Chicago suburbs, we don't have to deal with saltwater. My thought on that matter would be to ensure as part of your maintenance activity keep the mechanism lubricated with WD40 and when you clean off the trailer give the retractors a quick spray.

  • @mikeford9176
    @mikeford9176 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just bend out the trailer tabs a little and the will fit perfect and look and work good

  • @schism420420
    @schism420420 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The problem with retractable tie downs is the mechanism wears out and sometimes will lock up and then your screwed . I’ll keep my old style and occasionally pull over and check the tension and the tires .

    • @lmbfishingclub4013
      @lmbfishingclub4013  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I found periodically getting some WD40 on the mechanism generally eliminated the lockup. If it did fail on you, the two box wrenches are always in the toolbox and the old straps are always in the back of the car.

      Lil WD40 occasionally will alleviate that issue

    • @lmbfishingclub4013
      @lmbfishingclub4013  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have never had any problems like that. The top of the ratchet is three inches below the loading surface of the bunks.

    Does the main body get messed up from launching, with water and scum and such.

    • @lmbfishingclub4013
      @lmbfishingclub4013  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have not experienced any problems like that. When the trailer comes out of the water the bodies drain very quickly and are not in the water long enough to collect anything. If concerned about appearance, you can always run a quick spray with a hose will flush the surface.
