  • ABB RobotStudio - How to create Mechanism Tool
    1. Create a new station from empty station
    2. Load the 3D step (gripper design) files from import Geometry
    3. Set local origin to the tool flange, make sure the coordinate orientation are same with the robot flange, Z axis facing outward
    4. Set the local origin reference to the world origin. Change all the value to zero
    5. Select "Create frame" from Frame function
    6. Click on the point where the tool Center Point (TCP) for the picking
    7. Select the "Create Tool" from Modelling Function Tab
    8. Key in parameter example: Tool Name, weight, center of gravity
    9. 3D step files tool will be convert into mechanism tool
    10. Import the ABB Robot from robot library
    11. Create the virtual controller from layout
    12. Attach the tool into robot and test it.
