    My late grandparents used to have that car. It was one of the best cars Ford has ever made. They had an '84

    Some people say that box-shaped cars are ugly and that aerodynamics are the only way forward.
    I disagree. Great looking car right there. :)

    • @kevinmencer3782
      @kevinmencer3782 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Agreed, and furthermore, fuel efficiency advantages that can actually be attributed solely to aerodynamics is not as much as most people might think. Fuel efficiency has more to do with weight, the engine itself, and the transmission, etc than what shape the car makes. Otherwise, a 1950s Cadillac, which was ridiculously curvey compared to contemporary cars, would be a completely acceptable daily driver.

    I own 1987 LTD CV!! In my country (Poland) there are only two of them:-) I love it! It is the last real car (with frame base, V8 and ofcourse those thick, steel bumpers, that provide best security from any plastic, european cars). I will never change it for any new plastic, small car with tiny engine.... LTD CV is the best!!
    (sorry for my English)

    The Crown Vics and Grand Marquises with the optional formal coach roof (squared off rear section of the roof) looked so much better than the slanted window standard versions. I was surprised Ford did not make the more upright roof design standard by the mid-'80s as I thought the standard roof was very dated looking by then. The GM B-bodies used a more upright rear section by 1980.

    I love crown vic's, old and new. My buddy takes his 90 LTD crown vic out to the desert, and for a car, it actually does pretty damn good over whoops at 45mph. I though he was nuts when he told me, but once i took a ride, holy shit.
    He also owns a beautiful 07 p71 ex police interceptor with only 13k, still has all the factory police lables on it. I love crown vic's and am sad that they were discontinued. Hopefully they shall return.

    Ford was really able to take over the large RWD segment beginning around 1985 when Olds and Buick ended their B-body offerings and Ford upgraded the 302 to EFI. Choices were basically Ford/Mercury or Chevy. The Fords were better equipped and rode nicer than the Chevy.

  • @SamBrown3787
    @SamBrown3787 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    like I mentioned in my last comment on this vid, my buddy takes his 90 LTD out to the desert. It has BFG all terrains, took the vinyl off the rear portion of the roof, steel wheels, and he put a 8 foot whip antenne on it. One day, we pull up to a stop light, and we notice this black guy laughting his ass off, we pull forward to get in line with his window. My buddy asks, "what's so funny?" Once he stopped laughing, he replied, "Did you put offroad tires on yo grandmas caaaaar?" haha

      @@GoogleUser-bs7tt Many Japanese late models are still on the road today. It's hard to accomplish this with most Fords, without having to do lots of patchwork and expensive repairs over the years of ownership.
