This is just my prediction, but I think it will sell the best in countries like Japan and South Korea where the internet speed ranks within the fastest in the world due to their internet infrastructure being better than the U.S, Canada, U.K, and many other countries within the Americas and Europe. The U.S is not even within the top 10 or even top 20 (I think) of internet speeds.
People are dumb.. lol As soon as I saw this I knew it was gonna sell well and I pre-ordered. People don't understand the mobile gaming market in the west. Most handheld gaming devices (excluding phones) are played in the house on personal wifi. Unless you live in a major commuter city like NYC or Chicago... which most people don't. The average person that has a switch plays on their couch or in the bathroom on the toilet... yes sometimes people travel with those devices as well.. but on average people primarily play handheld consoles in the comfort of their own homes. lol So Sony making a device that focuses on perfectly pairing with the PS5 in the home makes perfect sense. I myself own a switch and a Steam Deck... but still was curious to see how this thing performs vs my remote play devices that I use with my PS5. Great Vid
Does anyone know how an online multi-player performs on the ps portal? Because I tried remote play apex legends a while back on my laptop, and it didn't work well.
My one "xbox" friend talked shit for weeks about it being dumb, worthless etc. Bought 2 at Christmas. This is common in our modern times: the "talk" means nothing.
The nerd in me wants to buy it, but since I live alone, there's not much point - except maybe being able to play some games on the go. I assume turn-based RPGs, for example, should work well enough even over a mobile connection.
Funny enough remote play app happens to be NOT WORKING NOW for many mobile devices and even pc now that the portal is coming. Remote play worked for YEARS over wifi or lately even over cell data .. Not now though... cant even type in a username to sign in ... hmm . Sony... forcing the sale are we?
you are spot on . I had people complaing for reasons you mention. I informed them and told those points you are making yourself. Its just a ps5 addon, nothing more and its market is not aimed at dedicated handhelds like the steam deck or rog ally etc. Its for people who already own a ps5 and therefore its price is £199 not £199 plus a ps5 as they would already own a ps5 and they are already in the playstation eco system and its a addon for it.
It slacked couple small things that would of made this best seller material: No 2k Display at 120hz Being limited to proprietary PlayStation buds which is stupid asf No Bluetooth peripheral support And no Internet changeable buttons and sticks to eliminate stick drift or stuck buttons because once u get that on their it's a rap u gotta buy anouther $200 device
The problem is the accessory is half baked. It doesn’t stream from its own cloud gaming service. Plus if you want to use wireless headphones you have to spend another £200 on a proprietary set.
Then they would have to make games for 2 different systems or a port wich will take away from the ps5 they trying to focus more on the ps5 this generation to maybe get the best gaming experience wouldn't that sound smart
Perfect when the women wants to lay and bed and cuddle while she reads or watches her shows lol or if I wanna be downstairs on the couch chilling or on the toilet lmao
The portal is DoA, I am the primary audience for a device like this as well as most of my friends. Why would I use a portal when I can do it on every handheld device that has come out? 100% the only reason I play Portable is when another family member wants to watch Netflix or something on the big screen.
the bad reporting on Wi-Fi will hopefully be corrected.., like IGN (IGN 1st reported badly on the Wi-Fi.., embarrassing)
Does anyone know how an online multi-player performs on the ps portal? Because I tried remote play apex legends a while back on my laptop, and it didn't work well.
The frickin WiiU skus at $300 and $350 sold out weeks in advance of their commercial launch. So just let that sink in.
My one "xbox" friend talked shit for weeks about it being dumb, worthless etc.
Bought 2 at Christmas.
This is common in our modern times: the "talk" means nothing.
I use mine all the time. One kid on one tv and another kid on the other tv. Me on the Portal. All playing Lego Fortnite. Perfect.
Japan likes Cute Devices & PS is popular that's all. PlayStation is selling out friggin statues. It doesn't change it's reduced feature Handheld.
Definitely pre ordered mine. My daughter or fiancé can be using the tv while I use the portal.
I am loving my PlayStation Portal. It is amazing to play my PS5 games on the go, or when my family is watching TV
you are spot on .
I would like one, but not buying another set of headphones. When I've got my ps5 headphones.
Can't really stand the type of people who's mindset is "this is not for *ME!* Therefore it is pointless."
Time to grow up kiddos.
wow 1080p with no HDR and not an OLED screen
Bet design , but not buying this device over Wi-Fi connection to the ps5 , bring back original offline local 😢
that would be a 500-600 device instead of 199 if you want native ps5 strength
Now who is gonna be the first to Mod it so it can be a new "portable handheld"? If there are ports....it's "mod-able" 😏
It slacked couple small things that would of made this best seller material:
No 2k Display at 120hz
Being limited to proprietary PlayStation buds which is stupid asf
No Bluetooth peripheral support
And no Internet changeable buttons and sticks to eliminate stick drift or stuck buttons because once u get that on their it's a rap u gotta buy anouther $200 device
I pre ordered right on the first of September had a feeling this will go out of stock
The problem is the accessory is half baked. It doesn’t stream from its own cloud gaming service. Plus if you want to use wireless headphones you have to spend another £200 on a proprietary set.
I pre-ordered and I am curious how it will be. the dualsense edge is great so i bet it will be amazing
i think sony did a terrible mistake creating a thing like the ps portal.
the best idea would have been a new portable console like the vita.
Then they would have to make games for 2 different systems or a port wich will take away from the ps5 they trying to focus more on the ps5 this generation to maybe get the best gaming experience wouldn't that sound smart
owh wait yeah the dual sense edge I forgot bout that being the same price point
ive been using my steamdeck for remote play to ps5, no reason to buy a portal for me
Perfect when the women wants to lay and bed and cuddle while she reads or watches her shows lol or if I wanna be downstairs on the couch chilling or on the toilet lmao
Pre-ordered on day 1, can’t wait for it to arrive
I got my Vr2 the week it came out at GameStop in Canada. Not from direct. 🤷♂️
Preorders went through Sony. When it came out yes it was in a lot of retailers, but not preorders.

The portal is DoA, I am the primary audience for a device like this as well as most of my friends. Why would I use a portal when I can do it on every handheld device that has come out? I own multiple handhelds that run android and some of them cheaper than the portal, heck I can even use the Vita. There is no world where this device is going to do well.
already off to a great start, but okay
Are you a Nintendo switch fanboy 😂
@@ReforgeGaming Its not out yet so it hasnt even started.
@@EnaTenkiyoGamer Im not a fanboy of any gaming company. I repect how Nintendo and Sony do business because their models mostly focus on the gamer experience. Internet infrastruture for the majority of the US is still dog shit, I know I used to work for ATT which does almost half of the US population. This video is like saying Wii U did well based on pre orders then you see all those scalpers selling 10's or hundreds of them under market value.
@DaReapa so in other words keep coping I guess Nintendrone hahaa
A lot of people buying it because it football season and we want to watch football while playing
lol bingo
