    How do you not have ten million subs?? This has got to be one of the most under rated channels on all of TH-cam. Please keep the great filmography coming!

    Ryan, sweet flying, terrain and edit, as usual. Thank-you for the pig smoke chase cam tips, I will use them all, I hated when my line snagged the screw handle so much, lol. cheers and thanks. Jerry

    Put me down on your list as the next “that guy” that you might have heard of that wants to fly with you! We’re so alike it’s eerie from the lifted Subaru to the qubik to the filming and flying style. 🤣🤙🏼 great stuff as always!

    Awesome Footage and Edit ! I put an external power bank on my chase cam a small 5000 mAh cylinder that adds good weight, balance and my battery can last 5+ hours

    • @ryansouthwell
      @ryansouthwell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice!! I thought about that but then had thoughts about that much weight/drag. I also tried using my remote but the distance is just barely too far out of reach that it's not reliable. That would have been an easy fix. Especially so I dont end up with excessive amounts of unwanted footage.

      Do you have a video of your chase cam Rich?

    • @AZPPG
      @AZPPG 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@UpcomingJedi I am still in trial and error stages of getting it set up. I added 12" and using the DJI Osmo Action Cam, but not getting a wide enough shot, so probably switching back to GoPro. The extra battery works great though, I attached it center of chase cam with velcro.

    Hey Ryan, love your videos! You should experiment with different line types and try to get it to a point where the line is invisible. That would be just perfect! Then let us know how you did it 😏.

    • @ryansouthwell
      @ryansouthwell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. I have thought about it a few times. I think there are aftermarket options out there. Definitely worth exploring.

    I have my gopro connected to my phone. I turn the recording on and off from there when I think the shots will be worthwhile. This does help to extend the battery life on those longer flights.

    • @ryansouthwell
      @ryansouthwell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For some reason my connection doesn’t stay locked on. If I lose it then I can’t reconnect and the rest of the flight it could be turned off. Might have to try more options.

  • @markallisonparamotor
    @markallisonparamotor 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Love it, I'm wondering if it's possible to add an external battery on a chase cam. Obvs much more weight, but do you think doable?

    • @ryansouthwell
      @ryansouthwell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      doable I'm sure, but the weight isn't worth it. It's a find balance. More weight makes it hang lower which gets in the prop wash and the shot goes bad. The sweet spot is going as far back as you can with the camera without it dipping into your own prop wash. You could do a heavier and shorter line but that angle is weird to me.

      I just do it as a joke, to validate my inability to be a good youtuber. Everyone has their "thing" on ending videos so I thought I'd mix it up. Hahah, go back to the Idaho Dunes video and watch that ending. :)

  • @ParamotorNC
    @ParamotorNC 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like the chase cam tips. Is there a way to shoot the chase cam image so the Paramotor is above the horizon?

    • @ryansouthwell
      @ryansouthwell  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, longer line. I used to have a setup that was more that way and I changed it up and lost the magic. Only issue is dealing with prop wash when it hangs that low.

  • @UpcomingJedi
    @UpcomingJedi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    The go pro camera batteries really seem to suck since they just cut off like on 7:47. Are you not worried that the chase cam would get tangled in the prop if its so close to your heels on takeoff?

    • @ryansouthwell
      @ryansouthwell  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nah, the prop is usually high enough off the ground to not interfere with the chase cam. Realistically though, it's a half step behind me and not actually on my heels. I just wanted to make the point that it's better to launch with it up front rather than in the rear.

      Yes actually, those little glass protection covers. I've gone through 3 already. Pays off since the Hero 8 doesn't have exchangeable lenses.
