I’m new to Jungian psychology and this podcast has opened up a fascinating world of learning and growth that’s connecting with me deeply. I only recently got the courage to start listening to the dream interpretations at the end as I am terrified of the nightmares I am prone to (I definitely have some “good ones” I could send in 😬), and, amazingly, listening to the dream interpretations is helping me get over that longtime fear! I listened to this episode the other day feeling confusion- like I was missing something- then growing uneasiness as it got weirder and weirder. Then at the end- relief, catharsis, and lots of laughs at your prank and my credulousness! 🤣 Well played!
My Mr. Coffee and I have been together for 35+ years. If I start taking him for granted, he won’t brew. When I remember to greet him properly and ask for his cooperation, he will usually brew up a great pot of coffee quickly and with no snags. Sometimes, though, he just doesn’t want to cooperate. After threatening him multiple times, I finally purchased an inexpensive single cup brewer and set it on the counter next to him. I only use it when Mr. Coffee doesn’t want to work with me. This is no joke!
You guys! I saw the title and knew the date. But so serious the first 9 minutes, I thought maybe this is legit? It wasn't until you were waxing lyrical over the beer steins, with Deb correcting Joseph on the pronunciation of the name. So funny!
That clears up the amusement park confusion-- My husband recently said "let's go to Switzerland," and I said, "then we must see the Jung Amusement Park, maybe it has been completed by now." And he said, "Really??" I must not have made it to the end of that one, and watched it just by searching through the offerings, not on April 1.
Jung, the OG nerd. Were he born a hundred years later, he would have played D&D, watched anime and called his toaster Calcifer. His collection of Sailor Moon figurines would have gotten him into depth astrology and his first and true love, quite predictably, would have been Sailor Mecury. (Btw. you guys got me 100%! Bravo!)
LMAO, Well done! I was actually cleaning my kitchen during this, and had great fun laughing at y’all (without getting it till the end) and trying to somehow reconcile Jung’s brilliance with a beer guzzling crazy person.
The key to Captaining a small old owner-operator workboat, is to make friends with your environment, whether it's the really big seagull (Jeffrey) that pecks at your alcoholic helper, or the kicker motor you use (little woot-woot, named after the sound she made) to illegally harvest clams... it's the basic relationships with such things in your day that can bring joy, meaning, and help surviving tough occurrences. Great video!
What a great episode, so many things I didn't know about Jung, you got me! For those coming to the comments, please watch this episode right through to the end 😊
My teacher in Kabbalah called that kind of life the sacramental life , Jung was aware of the idea of the sparks of God trapped in things , everything that comes into our life the spark within cry’s out to us to be redeemed , it is a form of active imagination or even meditative practice we were encouraged to visualise doing this with all things things to convey and pass on the awakening of that spark even in our mundane objects
Have you been able to actually "see" the spark? I have noticed such a spark- when I make my daughter's laugh. Very small and fleeting, but unmistakable. And I experienced it in myself for the first time during my awakening to it- I had neglected it for most my life unfortunately. Not having the tools or the resources and hellish childhood.
Ha! I never caught on to the trick, fully ready to share with friends these stories of beer and toasters. April Fools frivolity aside, this does bring up all sorts of possibilities for me. I am an urban planner, seeking to find the connections between Jungian thinking and the design of place. How do we interact and make use of the archetypes imbedded into urban design? We are surrounded by potential meaning... the Street, the Plaza, the Alley, on and on. These are my equivalents of "pots and pans." I've published one book on this idea and outlining three more. Hillman delves into the subject in his book City and Soul.
Thank you all for lightening our day. The dead pan expressions on your faces were so convincing and worrying...... the relief when Joseph said ' April fool' 😂😂😂
This is so synchronistic for me! I've been reading Sharon Blackie's "The Enchanted Life" these last two days and reevaluating how I relate to literally everything around me, especially animism towards the entire natural world but also manufactured items.
I have an uncanny knack of locating misplaced objects - when I ask where the object is, my gaze will shift to its location, or my hand will seek it out if it's in arms reach.
Thank god!!!!!!! I was like. "I can't do this,I can't listen to this anymore" but I stuck in there because I love you guys, till the end lol. That was great.
Seeing this 4 weeks late I had no clue this was a joke although it did seem a bit over the top even for Jung. But are you aware of the deep truths you arrived at when you spoke of the reverence for the relationship we have with everything? Having spent over 20 years working with indigenous cultures I can attest to the transformational power of moving through life with reverence and gratitude for all things, especially simple acts like making toast. Thank you. You have proven once again that the Trickster is a master teacher! 🌹
I haven't listened to the podcast in a while and tuned into this in May. I jjust kept thinking, WHAT IN THE WORLD DID THESE GUYS GET INTO? Several times I actually said out loud, 'what in the actual h..."😂
I’m clearly a bit slow! I’m no Jungian analyst, but I love this podcast. It’s helped me in so many ways, often just by changing my perspective. Listening to this, I thought, dang! All good things must come to an end. These people are mad! And Jung was even madder!! It was interesting to watch myself turn on you all, based on this one video. Hmm…
FARk!! You guys!!! :D What a joy! I ordinarily refer to myself as a FARmer, so this is not the most far-fetched! Haha Howdy 'n Happy April Fool's, from the 12 Apostles, Aus! Miri ♡♡
Can we have a video on asceticism? Maybe like a Jungian perspective on why some people are driven towards asceticism? I'm really interested in this topic and I can't find information on it anywhere
There I was walking down the road with my earbuds in, listening, and thinking this is outrageous, how can they POSSIBLY be serious (I hadn't seen the date) 😂 At one point I thought OMG Jung was a drunkenly delirious alcoholic sot, I simply cannot listen to anything he said.. or this podcast again! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 That last line... Mannnn I was relieved!! 🎉😅
That's a very lovely story about the toaster, and I presume that you are also vegetarian.😄 I like the idea of pantheism, but since lately I am listening to podcasts of Polly Young-Eisendrath, who is a renowned buddhist jungian analyst. She tells that there is an archetype of the self, though there is no existing substantial self, or soul. Then I wonder, if even we have no soul, how is it that material things are animated, or that we even possibly can project a soul in material things. Can we project something that is not within us? About Yale, it is one of those elite universities that brought forth a lot of billionaires, and is heavily sponsered and controlled by billionaires. Jung's scepsis with democracy, and fondness of aristocracy will certainly resonate with them.
Hoponopono an ancient Hawaian practice talks about this as well they talk and greet buildings also the course of Miracles talk about it I know this to be true because I think with its me its wooden objects a small bear with a drum 🥁 and that used best that drum very fast.
the shadow of the bread!!! 😂😂😂..
I will never look at my toaster the same again

“A greater sense of community among the various appliances in your kitchen” “…for Jung”
God…😅
🤣
Amazing acting, wow

love these jokes... the one about freud and jung having matching tattoos was so so good
Omg🤣🤣 I totally fell for it 🤣

Omg. Been listening in segments and reflecting in between. Well done.
Got me totally! Bait, line and sinker!
You guys got me! And I had an immediate flashback to listening to last years Jung Resort. Well done!
You tricksters! You were totally convincing, and I was thinking, OK, they've truly gone off the deep end. I am glad I listened until the very end.
Wait until you read Jung. He was an occultist using academic language in his younger years to be taken serious.
That was great!😂
When Joseph used the “changing the diaper” metaphor…my suspicion started to grow…😂
Can I just say I absolutely love the fact that us Jungians are not only unafraid to be weird and uncoventional but embrace it!
Ugh, you got me so good! And I am so relieved, especially for dear Joseph, who I was starting to worry over. Y’all are the best.
Every. Single. Year. You get me. You get me good and I never learn!

You had me going for about 21 minutes. But the MLVF drinking contest was my tipping point! Y’all are tooooo much. Hilarious!
I love the way they managed to keep deadly serious throughout 😂😂😂😂 You’re great guys!
LMAO, Well done! I was actually cleaning my kitchen during this, and had great fun laughing at y’all (without getting it till the end) and trying to somehow reconcile Jung’s brilliance with a beer guzzling crazy person.
I was like “oh, I thought I was weird but Jung just beat me” LOL

I laughed hysterically. Thanks! 🎉

You guys, you deserve an Oscar for keeping it up for so long. How many takes did you need? So brilliant, I was cracking up every other sentence. 😂
Jung did actually talk to his pots and pans, I think Marie-Louise Von Franz mentioned it
Ha! I never caught on to the trick, fully ready to share with friends these stories of beer and toasters. April Fools frivolity aside, this does bring up all sorts of possibilities for me. Welllll…if this isn’t the finest example of the Trickster archetype, I don’t know what is … 😅 How did you keep straight faces … ??
Thank you all for lightening our day. The dead pan expressions on your faces were so convincing and worrying...... the relief when Joseph said ' April fool' 😂😂😂
Feel closer to Jung, and that’s what it’s all about. 😂
This is so synchronistic for me! I've been reading Sharon Blackie's "The Enchanted Life" these last two days and reevaluating how I relate to literally everything around me, especially animism towards the entire natural world but also manufactured items.
Omg I love you! Wish I could hang out with you all day. Such a clever April Fools!! Much love ❤️
I have an uncanny knack of locating misplaced objects - when I ask where the object is, my gaze will shift to its location, or my hand will seek it out if it's in arms reach.
I knew it! I scrolled to the end because the 'beer stein' thing made me suspicious. Good fun though you guys! I love that you did that!
Clever and very funny. My toaster is a trickster too.
Angela!! You are all brilliant. Thank you for this wonderful episode.
Thank god!!!!!!! I was like. "I can't do this,I can't listen to this anymore" but I stuck in there because I love you guys, till the end lol. That was great.

Man you got me!!! Also was starting to wonder about y’all and your toasters. Whew. Great job team 🙀👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Awesome! 😂😂😂
LOL I really bought into it ....
You really got me! I thought you were talking gibberish! 😅😅 very funny 😂 👍
Thank you for a much needed laugh!! The toaster 😂😂😂 ❤
I haven't listened to the podcast in a while and tuned into this in May. I jjust kept thinking, WHAT IN THE WORLD DID THESE GUYS GET INTO? Several times I actually said out loud, 'what in the actual h..."😂
Being German I have to say "Gemütlich" is a really(!) strange name for a toaster. But the translation isn't "the warm one", but cozy or homely.
I am not an April fool …… but I loved the episode hahaha 😝
I can also imagine how easy it might be to have a conversation with the Toby jugs/mugs which are treasured by collectors.
This is a nice surprise 🎉
Thank You for this midweek fix ;)
I think Von Franz could drink Jung under the table. 😂 This was so fun thank you!
Hey, does this mean that workshop about fairytales and yoga wasn't real also?😅
I’m clearly a bit slow! I’m no Jungian analyst, but I love this podcast. It’s helped me in so many ways, often just by changing my perspective. Listening to this, I thought, dang! Startled to discover it was a hoax. These guys are so compelling even when they’re joking. I’m taking it like a dream- even if unreal, it spoke to me😄
FARk!! You guys!!! :D
What a joy!
I ordinarily refer to myself as a FARmer, so this is not the most far-fetched! Haha
Howdy 'n Happy April Fool's, from the 12 Apostles, Aus!

What an important archetype is the trickster
And I thought you guys were in the middle of a beer drinking contest! 😅
💚

The Law of One. There is the God particle in Everything.
Love you❤
Perfect for today. 😂
Edit: my pots and pans agree🎉
I'm so glad this was a joke. I was thinking I might need to find a new favorite podcast. 😂
Excuse me, I'm a little confused...So all jokes aside, did Jung infact talk to objects and have this relationship of Animism?
That's a very lovely story about the toaster, and I presume that you are also vegetarian.😄

Thank you for rescuing me from todays news which is very awful. 🩵🩵🩵
