Absolutely. This is the only way he can reconcile with, and validate his existence. He lost his sanity to a world that drove him to become Dabi, an unadulterated sociopath. Personally I'm sympathetic to his public expose of Endeavor, because his redemption arc felt heavily contrived to someone who's had to deal with a father similar to him.

It had seed planted like this in the beginning that you only really see now in retrospect. If you re-read parts, you can see the set-up and call backs to things later that come up. Also Hori-sensei's editors later allowed him more creative freedom so he would not play it as safe (like for the villain arc).

Best Jeanist being alive honestly saves the heroes. Because him being alive, makes so many other things come into question. Even if it’s true. It won’t completely save every civilian from thinking bad about heroes, but will keep enough complacent.

@Bankai652 The difference between AFO and Dabi's influence is that Touya is still human, so society is bound to relate to him on a different level. There are people like Dabi, and once they come out with their own experiences, a new movement is bound to begin.

@@kodiak809 Its more than that, endeavor neglected him completely after shoto was born which obviously affected him deeply because back then, he had a very good relationship ship with his father, not to mention he nearly died and was disfigured badly by his own flames which caused him to become insane. You should also know that certain events in life could really change a person either in a good a way or bad way, having a father that wanted to spend time with you at first then as years go by, just ignored your existence is very tough especially for touya who wanted to be with him.

First of all, don’t compare traumas.
Second, no they didn’t? they’re father neglected them completely, so they didn’t miss him. It’s hard to miss what you don’t know.
He trained Touya, showered him in praise, promised to make him the Number 1 Hero, and then just ripped it all away suddenly.
That would be like losing your identity. Everything he wanted, gone.
The father he adored? Abandoned him.
Leaving a small child wondering what he did wrong. The newest chapter shows a young Touya RIPPING his hair out, which is a sign of a mental disorder, and self-harm.
Even as an adult, he’s hard on himself, constantly saying he “isn’t strong enough” because his father made him push himself.
His father physically, and mentally, abused him; but that’s not “tragic” enough for you?
“I know plenty of criminals like him.”
Sure you do, bud; but let’s say for arguments sake that you do: okay? Criminals don’t need help?
He needed counseling, and therapy, and a healthier home life, and he received none. His FATHER was the self-centered asshole, not him.
And maybe if you paid attention to the manga/anime, you’d know that Shouto could’ve easily went down the same path as him, but Deku did his power of friendship speech and saved him from himself.
No one saved Dabi.
Dabi learned to save himself, and now he’s snapped.
Dabi didn’t have a bad childhood? Really? Because it was his dad’s selfishness, negligence, that caused him to backyard breed to get the perfect child, and caused him to have life threatening deficiencies. His quirk, that his dad caused, makes his skin burn off.
Imagine the pain every day of your skin burning off.
Imagine the feeling of the air touching the exposed muscle, and nerves, underneath every day.
His dad caused that, trying to create a hero that could live HIS dream.

I feel that Endeavour's "redemption" arc is very overlooked, and these recent chapters have shed some light on the idea.
Endeavour was never redeemed when I really think about it, the only redemption he received was being able to throw away the shackles from his old self, the shitty toxic human being we see , and the Remedial Course seemed to introduce us to a nicer Endeavour, and all this happened after his ascension to Number 1
The importance of his claiming of the Number 1 Hero isn't that he got it, it's how he got it, he didn't work for it, none of his children got it, and that would've just been him living through them. He was basically a usuper, he only got it because All Might gave up, retired. Possibly shattering that whole reality that usually portrays the gap between him and All Might, he never crossed that bridge that with worry, he crossed without even knowing.
And with that, Endeavour's past caught up to him personally first, it caught up to him, that he treated his wife and children terribly, that he subjected them to years of neglect and abuse. But, I wanna take a note from one of the chapters with Ending, mostly 252
Enji doesn't want Natsuo's forgiveness, he's accepted his past, and was only afraid of what'd have happened if was never able to talk with Natsuo again, Natsuo is never able to forgive Endeavour, seeing how close his relationship with Toya was. As well with the fact, he tries to do his part to help his family, by giving them a new home, for their mother and away from him, residing alone instead.
Yet there's another chapter prior to that I wanna look at, which 249, him talking about his dream in the beginning, and by the end, returning to the shrine of Toya, talking about how he wished his oldest could be in the dream too, and later on in the chapter, he also says how Fuyumi has saved him, he wants to grant his family, the people he should've cared for the most, the life they deserved, but he heartlessly took that away from them because of goals he set for his children and marriage.
I just wanted to mention it here as it went about Endeavour's downfall, I hope he survives the battle and we see stills of the old Todoroki house, possibly wrecked and broken and in disrepair from those against him now. Would be a great solidifier to that fall of grace idea. Endeavour's redemption arc made him human, a person again, it made from being hollow by the book man wanting a golden child to a man who wanted to see his family whole again, even if he's not there.

I too think Endeavor should survive, and having to face the world as just Enji after being the number one would lead to a much more satisfying redemption arc than what has simply humanized him thus far. There's also the vindictive knife twisting of imagining people making Dabi merch like they did for Stain. My family wasn't abusive in the same manner but that idea just tickles my heart in a dark way.

Honestly, Dabi/Toyo, is the best villain in the entire my hero Academia universe he is the reason I have continued to watch my hero Academia and read it.
About Touya's hair, this is my theory, if Endevour abused him as a kid then it's possible Touya developed this thing called Marie Antoinette syndrome which is when a person's hair loses pigmentation due to high levels of emotional stress, I think this makes sense as it is obvious and stated that Endevour abused Touya
To fix the anime error I’d say his hair was originally red then due to the stress(and reasons you mentioned) his hairs started to turn white, then he dyed it black as Dani and now his hair is white again.

I have a theory, that may be totally off base, but if it turns out to be true, will jack our story all over the place.
Theory:
Part 1: Dabi has Hot/Cold Quirk. It's not half and half, it's full board cold and heat. It's how he survived the burning man situation. The Cold quirk manifested as a result of his body defending itself from his heat, thus why his hair started changing colors before he even "died".
Part 2: Dabi is the first child put in a espionage training program. This will harken back to All Might going to Endeavor for how to train a successor. The kicker will be that this is how Dabi knew who Hawks is.
Bonus Tin Foil Hat Theory: Best Jeanist is not how his name is supposed to be spelled. it's Best Geneist. If he has masted threading material, that would include genetic coding. He may be the ace in the hole and is able to genetically modify things (allowing him to be dead, without being dead). This would sit well with me, because we seem to be missing a geneticist on Hero side that is watching quirk development. From the Provisioning Licensing test we literally saw a student from another school talking about quirks getting stronger and merging, so to believe the heroes don't have someone watching it is laughable.
Alright tell me how crazy it is. I have one more theory tied into all of this, but I am waiting for Best Jeanist to do something for me to see if it's possible yet or not.
Your first and second theory are really good. I also think Dabi has some type of fire and ice quirk if he did that would be like the final nail in the coffin for endeavor and hero society. There would also be no way to disapprove Dabi being a Todoroki if he had some form of an ice quirk. But if Dabi doesn’t have an ice quirk now I think he will get one soon since he is one of the only members in the league who’s quirk has not awaken.

I think the Dabi hair conundrum is Horikoshi trying hard to compensate the confusion caused by the anime lol. I think he initially made his hair white but the anime made it red so Horikoshi tried explaining it. He was better off just saying it was an error on the anime

If I have to guess the Endeavor was probably decent at first when Toya first showed his fire quirk but as time went by The Quirk started to hurt him and and was desperate to make him what he wants started to get physical and pushed him so much forgetting that he was a child. Years of being physically abused and then abandoned it's not surprising that he went crazy.

The people that aren't showing sympathy for Dabi have obviously never felt real pain... Dabi is so hurt and has been holding on to that hurt for many years. He doesn't know what to do or why he even exist. The torture of being unloved and a failure sent him over the edge because he didn't see another way out. There is still good in Dabi deep down he can be a better person. Hes just so hurt right now. He needs love.

Don't you remember Gaara saying that in his first 6 years his father pampered him and trained him how to be a shinobi? Then he was deemed a failure. It was only then after Yashamaru was sent to provoke him is when the assassination attempts began. Then after killing Yashamaru he didn't know what he was even alive for.
He said it in the hospital. The difference I see is the approach Gaara and Dabi take to their situations. Both are evil but Gaara hates the world and killed others for the sake of living whereas Touya hates the world and therefore wants to change it.

While Dabi does have a tragic past, that doesn’t justified what he’s done.
Many make the mistake of assuming that explaining how a villain got where he is is the same as justifying it.
Dabi's past does not "Clean" him but it does "Dirty" Endeavor.

I honestly feel bad for Dabi/Touya he wanted to be a hero and was the only one who enjoyed traing with Endeavor but after Shoto was born and had both his parents quirks he was neglected by his father and questioned why he was born and trained trying to prove himself to his father which lead to him burning himself severely and he was filled with so much hatred for his father he lost all his emotions and became the monster he is today I can't help but feel sorry for him. Also if they manage to arrest Dabi I think the only person who can get through to him in his current state is his mother Rei because she is the only member of his family he does not feel anger, hatred, or jealousy towards and I honestly think she is the only person who can get him back on the right path but he will have to take responsibility for what he did before he can be fully redeemed

It’s probably due to stress, like kaneki from Tokyo ghoul, but it’s just an added coincidence that the condition causes your hair to turn white and one of the parents has white hair. Makes it extra confusing.

@TG I don't think Toga is really crazy. Because of her quirk, and it's influence on her, she can't control herself, so I think she's just pretending to be something she's not, and she's trying hard to convince herself that it's true. And that's why I think she was crying after her fight with Ochako. I think Toga regrets the life she lives, and the things she's done. But I could be wrong.

Yeah I have theory that I’m almost assured of is going to happen, is that after the war arc ends Japan is going to fall into a full on civil war waged by factions who are either with or against the heroes and villains or ones that just want to screw both sides all together, leading to our remaining heroes being forced to retreat into another country to recover and only come back when strong enough stop shigaraki and the villains once and for all.

Given that we keep hearing about the family drama from everyone else's POV, I feel like we might be missing a chunk of Endeavour's side.
Dabi was literally born for the purpose of pleasing Endeavor. He was conditioned to believe his only meaning in life was accomplishing his father’s dream and he endured the pain from his quirk for the sake of it. To be bombed with his father’s desires and attention to being completely discarded is hardcore emotional abuse. I know Endeavor is changing and maybe regrets what he’s done but that will never heal the trauma and psychological damage. Not to forget Dabi was literally just a child...
The parents agreed having more kids would be supportive so endeavor didn't just only wait for their quirks to appear
He only had Fuyumi for the encouragement, and even then it's shown that he was interested in what her quirk would be. Natsuo and Shoto were created when Touya failed Endeavor and that can be proven by looking at their age gaps. it leaves almost perfect timing for a quirk to manifest, Endeavor not being pleased, and then demanding another child.

Touya didn't die, he was murdered by his own parents. Endeavor because of his hunger for power and his mother's incompetence of being a actual mother killed toyua.

He did at least get his wings before Tokoyami came. But I know what you mean. lol

1. Someone kills/make Best Jeans unconscious so Dabi can get out of the wires.
2. Dabi would have to put so much heat to melt a wires and also melt himself in the process which would be dumb so there is actually only 1 way out for him right now.
Simply put Best Jeanist came on the battlefield with the perfect counter for Dabi and Gigantomachia at the same time.

Yeah but it’s also explains why Endeavor said “he has his mothers (body, I can’t remember the exact term),” Touyas quirk was powerful but his body was to frail and small so it wasn’t able to keep up with it. (And who knows maybe due to all the training he didn’t get enough sleep and was underfed unlike his other siblings who didn’t have to deal with all that.)

I actually hate Endeavor less from this chapter honestly. I wonder if something secretly happened to Endeavor that made him so determined to get a new number one. Like Endeavor not hating Dabi at first and his wife asking for another kid makes me wonder if something occured that really scared endeavor into pushing for a new kid. Maybe his determination and fear just grew since he was already overly focused on making a #1 anyway.

Many people thought Endeavor raped Rei (even though I doubted the author was trying to portray that even before) so this chapter makes it clear at least he had the kids with consent.
it must be because of dabi's own fire burning him. endeavor said so himself that he saw so much talent and potential in touya that he didn't push for a half-ice half-fire quirk at first, since he thought touya might be the one who can become no.1 like he wished... BUT touya's fire started to burn his own body and it might have triggered endeavor to think that the perfect combo of ice and fire is REALLY NECESSARY. that must be why he became even more obsessed with having a kid with both powers cuz he seen it firsthand that even if he had a kid with a stronger fire, it will only hurt them more and therefore they won't be able to be no.1 like he wanted.

Even with receiving the regeneration quirk alone he would be insanely powerful as he would have no need to hold back his flames at all. The powerhouse that Enji imagined his first born would become would be realized. I definitely think he is overdue for a modification, especially after his failed attempt at taking out Hawks and Tokoyomi given that the fight was skewed in his favor as a result of their weaknesses.

ok hear me out, I have a theory, the reason why Touya hair turns white
Ice quirk signs:
-body can handle Ice well but is subjected to get frostbites if overused
-white hair
-grey eyes
Fire quirk signs:
-body can handle "the heat" but can overheat if quirk is overused
-red hair
-blue eyes
My theory is that Touya first developed the capability to use fire (he had all the signs) but then as he grew, his mother's side (ice quirk) is starting to manifest. So his body became the body of an ice quirk user but his fire quirk still remained...
Hence why he is scarred because his fire is too strong for a body thats suppose to handle ice. Maybe Dabi has an Ice quirk without even knowing...

It's because she didn't want to do it. Her instable mental state due to endeavour made her do it. It's obvious she's very mentally ill as we see her living in a psychiatric hospital. Hair turning white is called Antionette Syndrome. It's from extreme Mental or Physical stress caused to the body.. within a short period.
Keneki from Tokyo Ghoul Went thru something similiar.. but his situation was due to extreme torture..which is why it happened Quickly over gradually.
In Dabi's case I think it's due to the stress of having a "Cold" based body while utilizing a "Fire" Quirk it was never meant to handle that was little by little damaging it both inside and out..thus causing the strain to the point it started to visually hurt him..
I think unless Dabi insist on being called Touya beyond the spite of it it'll be easier for the fans to keep referring to him as Dabi, as that's both clearer in act and timeline when discussing his villianous stage. If that sounds like I think there may be a redemption while it's possible I'd saw no way, but still that's more reason to use Dabi till we know.
Touyas dead, all their is left is Dabi, whoever Touya was that person is long gone, the only thing that’s left is this insanity and hatred, so unless Dabi has some sort of redemption arc or comes back to his senses, yeah we should all just refer to him as Dabi.
