Teddy Blake is a luxury handbag company from New York, with all of their bags being manufactured in Italy, from high quality Italian leather. Their aim is to provide luxurious bags without the hefty price tag that many high-end brands have. They have very kindly sent me a handbag to try out. I actually liked your self portrait painting as well as the others, it's not as bad as you think :) I've never been one for handbags as I never go out to use them, but what a fabulous gift from Teddy Blake and I'm sure you will get plenty of use from it, I loved the fact you can get tons of stuff in there! It is surprisingly roomy! Got very heavy though so I wouldn't carry as much in it normally. 😂
The shadow under the bag on the bench looks rather like a cat head on one side and tail on the other! ❤❤❤

What a beautiful bag! I got tired of buying a cheap bag once a year so i splurged and bought a nice leather bag a few years ago. It's still gorgeous and i can use it fornyears. Nice bags are worth the investment!
I'm sure you're right! My cheap bags have a tendency to flake and scuff, being vinyl rather than proper leather. I'm treasuring this beautiful bag! ❤️

I have an actual leather doctor's bag I got for $5 from a Sunday market for my art supplies. I wish I could have afforded the baby crocodile one.

Mostly I would use it just as a handbag, but it's good to know I can fit my large sketchbook in there if need arises! 😊

As to the pictures, i think all three were great. I think sometimes that painting ourselves can be very challenging because we are not comfortable with how we look. I recently had to do some self portraits for att class and i hated it because the me i painted or drew didn't look like the picture i had of myself in my head. 😢 very challenging.

Thank you, and yes - we have a particular view of what we look like, and it's quite different to how others see us. It's also knowing every single part of one's face, so if the art is off, it is really noticeable. Anyway, I'm sure I'll get over it with time, haha!

I wish I didn’t love designer handbags as much as I do, I am going to have to check out their website, I haven’t looked at Teddy Blake bags in ages. (Should explain, I don’t buy bags that are hundreds/thousands of dollars, I’m more of a Coach/Kate Spade/Dooney&Bourke/mid-price range kind of gal 😅. Love all your handbag paintings ❤.
Thank you so much and I'm totally the same with bags. I tend to get them at TKMaxx because they have nice ones at reasonable prices. But it's nice to have a fancy bag now for special occasions and outings!

I laughed out loud when you mentioned spot colour being very early 2000s, because I relate so much to this. I loved using that technique 20 years ago. My hubby was a professional photographer and he also relates very much to this from that era.
I think it went out of fashion when people didn't use it well. It's great in Schindler's List, when Spielberg uses it to show the little girl. But many people don't use it to highlight something interesting and the execution is off.
And I agree YES women can have greys too. I would like not to, but I also don't see the point in maintaining hair every month. I do occasionally do it, but never enough. Too much pressure on us ladies to always look perfect.
By the way I loved this video. It's a little different for you, but I love that you still got 3 art pieces in and brought it all together. I love that it's a little left of your normal center 😃
Good old spot colour! Done to death for sure, and it really only works if the subject is a single, bright colour. Red is best for it too, in my opinion! It was quite fun experimenting with a slightly different sort of video - but a bit stressful too. I'm glad I managed to get it all together in the end! ❤
I love spot colour for basically only red. I see it used for cats eyes too (greens and blues). But nothing beats the red.
Your paintings are great. The self portrait included. I'd have to agree with other comments. You're too hard on yourself. And grey hairs are something to cherish. I stopped coloring my hair and I have lovely white streaks now. I kind of wish my hair was all white. Own those greys! 😊 Awesome bag by the way. Those sunglasses are fun too. Totally my style.
Thank you! Remember when there was a craze where young women were dyeing their hair silver/grey, paying vast amounts of cash to do so? I never understood that trend; just wait long enough and you'll get them for free! 😂
@@BeckyTregear Exactly. I was thinking of that craze. I did like that look and at one point wanted to skip ahead and have a salon make me grey, but can you imagine the amount of time, money and chemicals it would take to make brown hair grey? No thanks!

It's a decent size, I really like it. And yes, it's on the pricey side! Still better than a $3000 clutch bag I saw recently, lol.
Wait! Cat in the bag! Also, if it bugs you that much, maybe use gouache on the parts you don’t love? I think they are pretty good though.
The inside is a suede and cat hair would stick to it, I'm sure! 😂
I don’t think your portrait is bad at all. If you really don’t want it in your book though you could paint over it with watercolour ground 👍😁

The self portrait is actually fine. It's just not finished.

Hello. I have exciting news. When I started my job (on August 8) I was told that for the next two years we will be working together with 3-4 people from Sweden and Finland. Where we each have to make some art that tells about ourselves, and when you're done we have to send what we've made to Sweden or Finland, where they then have to work on it. When we get to April 2025, I will travel with my work to Sweden, where we will hold an exhibition of what we have done.

Beautiful bag! Great choice. When you set it down I said oh no not on cement :) I think it’s brave you used it right away, I’d probably have it sit on a shelf being afraid to use it. Love the shade of red. Also loved all your paintings, but if you really hate the self portrait paint some shades on. The bag screams for some cool sunglasses. Great video as always you always make me smile.
I was very gentle resting the bag down on the ground, but this is indeed why I generally don't have expensive handbags or sunglasses, because I tend to knock them about and they get worn in very quickly, lol. I think I'm keeping this bag for special occasions. Glasses would have been a good idea; I've "fixed" other portraits by painting sunnies on, haha!

Hi Becky, Pretty bag. Your paintings are good. Even your self-portrait. I do think you made your lower face a little teeny bit too wide and the space between your lips was bigger than your lips and mouth. But, it was way better than what I could do.
I like the purse, but overall, I don't do purses, so I won't be buying one. I do have a wallet if that counts? And if I do art elsewhere, I just use a small totebag.
