This popped up in my feed, and I'm glad it did. 3 yrs have passed since this was shot. I have found it fascinating!!!!. How are they doing now in 2023? Hope the family has done well. Thx again.
I've never seen the North Carolina Zoo before - the gorilla habitat is lovely. I really enjoyed seeing the different enrichment activities and treats that the zoo offers❣ I also love the educational focus of this video. I wish more TH-cam 'gorilla followers' would watch it as there is a lot of misunderstanding out there. 🙏❤
I love gorillas and im sure y'all have awesome staff that love all the animals and feed them a great diet and have many professional vets that take care of them thanks for all your hard work and compassion
That silverback is way too skinny. Im sure the zoo makes a killing off of them and they don’t feed them enough. That’s wrong. In the wild a silverback can eat up to 60-70 lbs of greens a day. This poor guy deserves so much better.
We appreciate your concern for our silverback, Mosuba, and his health - we take this very seriously! Animal welfare is a top priority for us, and we specifically formulate all animal diets at the Zoo to make sure our animals are getting the nutrition they need. The gorillas receive the most expensive diet at the Zoo: It’s completely produce-based, heart-healthy, and closely mimics their diet in the wild. Our Vet staff regularly monitors the body condition of all animals. Mosuba is currently in ideal body condition and weighs 153 kg (337 pounds). Like people, gorillas come in all shapes and sizes, and Mosuba is on the smaller side for an adult male gorilla. As Mosuba is an older gorilla (37 years old) we have to be mindful of heart health because cardiac disease is a common issue with older male gorillas. Mosuba’s healthy weight and healthy diet keep his heart healthy, too. We recommend you check out this video about Animal Diets here at the Zoo: th-cam.com/video/COtN-cbUh_A/w-d-xo.html. Thank you!
Zoos are vital your comment is un educated. If not for zoos there would be no gorillas as they are one of the most endangered animals. Educate yourself before commenting
Big Mo looks like he's in great shape - there's a lot of lean muscle there❣ Heart failure is a major killer of captive gorillas - ensuring that the gorillas maintain a healthy weight relative to their level of activity is super important.

I was beginning to think there weren't any gorillas in the gorilla training video.
What time are they eating breakfast?
Gorillas don't encounter or eat jello in the wild, so why give them that?
