I knew a teacher in Mount Temple who taught them, he told me during the final year exams he found the 4 of them practicing in a room and went in asked; "why aren't you guys studying for your exams?", to which they replied "because we're going to be the biggest band in the world"
U2's studios by the canal dock are at Hanover Quay, that is the name of the quay where the building stands. Some U2 albums say "recorded at HQ", I think "...Atomic Bomb" says 'recorded at HQ and South Of France inside the CD booklet. 'HQ' normally stands for 'headquarters' but in this instance it stands for something else. I believe U2 filmed the video for 'October', in 1982, at that dock. Bono said once that U2 recording sessions can get tense, and having the water next to the building is calming for him - if he stands and looks at the water it calms him down. ... There is a venue in Essex Street in Temple Bar where U2 played some early shows called The Project Arts Centre, I don't know if it's still there as a venue - the building probably is at least. ... You can also see Larry's current house in Howth, north-east Dublin, it's easy to find as it overlooks the sea; and Bono's house in Killiney, south Dublin, which also overlooks the sea. The Edge lives on the hill just behind Bono, and Adam lives in Rathfarnham 2 or 3 miles away. It's interesting to note that three members of U2 live close to each other at the bottom of south Dublin and one member - Larry - lives 16 or 18 miles away at the very north-east corner of Dublin. All four are northsiders, but Larry is the only one still living on the northside.
Oh wow, thanks for the detailed reply! And yeah I know where Bono lives, but there was no time to visit (or the other spots hehe). Hopefully we can go back to Dublin another time. So much to see there still :) Fingers crossed!
@@muzikxpress No problem, I'm glad you found my reply interesting. Dublin is a cool city, I really enjoyed it there. I've been a fan of U2 for many years, I've seen them live many times and I met them all once. They were very friendly - they came outside to speak to the fans who were waiting after a gig in London.
