This year there are a lot of students like him due to Lucky shifts in Jan attempt i personally now guys having less than 3k rank in mains not reaching 10k in Adv All because of 31st S2 and 1Feb shifts Leaving Elite IITs for something like DTU is not worth it. Everyone now a days is only watching average packages of NITS and blindly go for them But The alumni network ,culture and Brand value of IITs is unmatchable.
Alumni network-se kitno-ne kuchh ukhad liya jara hame bhi batao at the end of day usko job chahiye peaceful life chahiye naa-ki kisiki chatni hai.
He seems from delhi,
Usko hostel and hostel routine ke chakkar mai nahi padna hoga,
( Mess ki to maa ki ***** ).
Usko chill life/peaceful college life chahiye he picked it up that's all.
( And he didn't even shamed any iit's )
DTU also had strong alumni network.

Bhaiya what would you suggest to me : BITS Pilani (mechanical engineering), DTU (mathematics and computing) and IISER Kolkata. I want to go for research and irrespective of college and branch, I will do self study and then go for masters in physics for sure. I want to pursue a career of renewable energy (newer forms like hydrogen etc) or pure research.
If you want to do research blindly pick iiser Kolkata cuz the research environment in iisers is much better than IITs and nits my brother did his bs Ms their and currently pursuing his PhD from Max plank institute Germany

I want a balance of money and college but more inclined towards research. that is why I wanted engineering physics at a top 7 IIT, but then Maine adv mein hagg dia and got 19k rank. Aslo I would be ok to outside for studying, but Iwant to work in india
If you want to do research then DTU is not a good option for you

6 k in advanced So I assume Under 5 k in mains And If so then u have very options better Than Dtu Even If u Want Cse...IIIT ALLAHABAD MANY TOP NITS IIIT DELHI all three are far better than DTU....
Also Electrical Engineering Is Very good branch Coz After electrical u can do Ms and PhD in CS and Ai even From foreign.....The College like Nits and IITs Have a great alumni network and Established professors network Which make it easy for Ms in Foreign.....

yes you are right my cousin got 19k rank in jee adv but still he got mechanical in iit ropar i am assuming he got because of category rank but 5k is very good rank in jee adv even not in iit you can still get cs in nit

Tell me if i am wrong.. IIT me mechanical ya fir electrical leke Apni coding skills ko develop karna in the span of 4 years.. and keeping your cgpa good like 7 and above would let you sit in interviews where your cv would look better than most of the same branch. Going for mtech or maybe mba would def increase the paycheck. and if we see, in the span of next 10 years, the guy would be at a great position in life. Whereas cse from relatively worse college with 0 after benefits... What would be his future in the sector? I dont think he gave a good thought and did good research. He could have got IIIT or NIT delhi with electrical or it or maybe cse.
Yeah, lower branch in top IIT could have also been a viable option tbh. But he would have to study something irrelevant for 4 years to maintain CGPA. Maybe that's why he chose DTU. Also, it's not as if DTU has 0 benefits, It's also a good college with great alumini network (Founder of Paytm, father of pentium processor and sushant singh rajput to name a few). But OBVIOUSLY IIT tag is far far superior.
NIT delhi is... kinda a joke in delhi. Many companies visiting DTU/IIITD/NSUT don't visit NIT D.
anyone leaving DTU/NSUT/IIITD for NIT D is mostly because they might be getting better branch in NIT D.
baaki yeah, He could have gone for IIITD, but the placements of DTU and IIITD are almost the same (as of now). IIITD has better curriculum and professors and best for research after IITD, while DTU has bigger campus, better college life, and better brand value.

My rank is 927 EWS and I have also chosen CSE in NIT Delhi rather than IIT for the exact same reasons and expriences. Hop it goes well
