Nigeria Latest News: This young man identified himself as James Brown, who was recently paraded by officers of the Nigeria Police Force has denied being a gay.
James Brown told journalists during the parade in Lagos, that he disclosed his HIV Status to the police officers, yet they arrested him and labelled him GAY even though he was at the nightclub to perform.
There were other things he mentioned during the questioning by journalists.

But my issue is asking someone how he contracted HIV on a news media outlet is a stupid, unprofessional, unethical, condescending, and trick question. The person who asked the question is already assuming that he got the disease from homosexual activity. This is very unfair to the person whether he is guilty or not. If he decided to open up about his HIV status publicly, no question should have been addressed to him concerning it; secondly, what is the connection between how he contratced the disease and the issue that you are interviewing him for?

I think it is very very dangerous, to decide that a man is gay just by how he talks or looks. It can turn many men who are not gay into gay, because of harassment. There are men who are born looking like their mothers, or being soft spoken. If you look at the previous generations, don't you see some of our fathers and their fathers sometimes looking calmer than the wives? We had musicians, drummers and other young men who were not as muscular and who were more relaxed in looks. If you read "Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe", you will see there were men like this. Why would the Nigerian society develop from a mob culture that would issue corporal punishment for stealing a loaf of bread or mere hearing shouts of "Thief", without seeing what was even stolen; to harassing and identifying "gay" men by how they look or sound? The Nigerian society is becoming pure hell on earth. This has nothing to do with Buhari.

It is about the dangerous trend that is being set by seeing people with different looks and mannerisms and deciding for them that they are gay, without their own announcement. We have many people who looked relaxed and soft spoken who are our fathers today. They could have all fallen by the wayside if people simply harassed them and called them gay.
