    Thank God I found your channel. Your experience resembles minds a bit. I have a B.A is sociology and I started working in the hospitality industry I found myself getting comfortable moving up in that industry. Covid happened and now I am looking to get back to social services and I am really having a hard time. This video gives me so much insight. Thank you for sharing ❤

    Do you recommend any additional training or ceu to increase skills for this field? I’d love to hear more examples of common scenarios you face.

      I just recommend getting licensed. Definitely have to get CEUs to maintain licensure. Look into getting certified as a case manager

    Can I still apply for these jobs even if I don’t have my license? I will be graduating spring 2022 and have two years in the medical /health sector ( 1st year was a pediatric mobile bus & family health navigation program and my current year is in psy/behavioral health )
    I am interested in gaining my license but every job ask for LCSW -and I won’t have that yet . should I still apply ?

    • @theprototype_
      @theprototype_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for watching. Hospitals have different requirements for licensure. You can apply for medical social work jobs, but be sure to apply for the ones that don’t require you to have LCSW

    Great video I used to be premed too lol🥳🕺🏽🕺🏽 but now i work in home health and love picking social workers brains on the topic of discharging patients. I know y’all’s days are crazy and your approached a lot so What’s the best way you think home health agencies approach you? I personally feel as if it should be a partnership but I just love hearing different opinions

    Ahh okay fist and foremost sorry I am asking so many questions in each of your videos lol. How long where you working as a medical social worker (in a hospital setting) before you were able to acquire enough experience to be hired as a travel social worker?

    Would you say it’s worth it to go out of state for your MSW? I really want to go away for my MSW but worry about the out of state costs. Love your videos, I’m so glad I found your channel!

    • @theprototype_
      @theprototype_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If low cost is a priority and you don’t receive any way to offset the costs, then I’d rethink going out of state. Or at least apply to schools that offer a lot of funding

    • @aw6064
      @aw6064 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can try schools like Yeshiva U or Columbia in NYC that I believe have the same tuition rate for online and on campus rates regardless if you’re out of state. I could be wrong for the on campus rate for Columbia though! Def online is the same rate. Out of state costs are significantly higher though at most schools. Online programs may be the better options if you’re looking to equalize it

    thank you so much for this video , i am a sophomore in achieving my bsw one question i do have is what i should minor in because i do want to become a medical social worker as well, i currently don’t have a minor

    • @theprototype_
      @theprototype_  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      IMO minors don’t matter much. I minored in Diversity, almost had a minor in History. Maybe talk to your advisor if you want more guidance

    Your video resonates deeply with me! I just graduated with my MSW this month and my internship backgrounds are in school sw but unfortunately I’m having a hard time finding a job in that sector. I’ve always been interested in medical sw tho and I’m gna shoot my shot to see if I can land a job without prior experience. Your video was extremely helpful! Thank you so much for the advice and guidance girl.
