- The Trolls trilogy is coming to a close. And for some reason, I just never picked up the habit of making a TERRIBLE episode out of new releases. So a couple years late, here's our full breakdown review of every beat of DreamWorks' Trolls 3: Band Together. With a legacy as dodgy as Trolls, can this be the movie to string everything together? If it is to be the final instalment of the franchise can they end it on a banger? Is it even possible to turn around the idea of this DreamWorks project into one that is funny, exciting, parodious and with screeching commentary? Let's find out as we round of the trilogy. I literally enjoyed this movie and I didn't expect to actually enjoy a trolls movie the first one was cool and had dark moments but this one was really good I went with my lil sis and we had the option to watch trolls 3 or wish and I remember everyone saying wish was trash and Disney loosing their spark so I took the risk of watching trolls 3 haven't heard anybody talk about it but after watching it I remember playing the songs on TH-cam 😂

Literally all of the Trolls songs were boring, except for Can't Stop the Feeling or True of Colors, but since the third part came out I feel like it was a big improvement, there isn't a song that you don't enjoy from the third one and I feel like you have to give them credit for that.

I think since that since the Trolls are based off a toy line, the villains might have been visually inspired by Betty Spaghetty, which was a popular toy line in the late 90s and early 2000s

The in the second movie, she was so dumb that she decided to be friends with a dictator and did listen to her friends or her dad, the. She became selfish to branch for wanting to go home and protect their friends and family, after the climax she then didn’t apologise to branch for being an asshole. But now in the third movie, she just became the supporting character of branch

havent even watched the video but surely the all caps "TERRIBLE" has to be exaggerated for click retention. but if you ask me the Trolls trilogy was clearly made for the fun of music and storytelling, and the animators went crazy making a world that looks so stimmy. anna kendrick said in an interview that the trolls series is basically the only voice work she gets excited for. regardless though, to each their own.

Not trying to throw shade at Dazz, but I’m almost certain that a good majority of the hate for Trolls comes from people watching his review videos and basing their entire opinion on the franchise around it rather than actually watching the movies for themselves and forming their own thoughts about it. Seriously y’all, don’t just blindly follow what online reviewers say about things.
Glad that everyone in the comments seems to be on the same page though. Trolls is honestly a pretty charming series, even if I’m not the target demographic. :)
I honestly really like this movie
It has a lot of really good jokes and has a lot of charm that most of the trolls movies don't have.
I mean this came out after Puss in Boots 2. But honestly, that one was overhyped. Look, both are on the same level of good

It’s really interesting that a lot of the comments are on the same page about this one: movie didn’t suck. Yeah, there were some eye roll moments, but it was still a relatively enjoyable film. The animation keeps getting better, the songs are good, and I did have more laughs than I expected. I understand the whole annoyance with a repeating IP, but if the studio shows improvement in animation and writing, I don’t mind sequels. It gives them a chance to build the world a little more, and answer questions viewers may ask; even ones we don’t want answers to sometimes…

IDK man, I liked these movies. They were fun, and this one was probably the best of the three. Also the cut to detail edit is an animation trope, not a spongebob thing. It's been used in animation my whole 37 years, at LEAST since Ren & Stimpy. Roco's modern life may also have done it, I don't recall. But it's been a cut to detail gag for decades now, so I'm not gonna fault Dreamworks Animation for including it, it's funny that's why it's lasted this long as a running gag in shows like those mentioned.
-The burgens were in the second movie at the end. The story the writers wanted to tell didn't revolve around them, so they weren't included for the main thing, but they did come in at the end, and therefore still took place in the same continuity. The holiday specials I think also cleared that up?
-Velvet & Veneer are based on, like the Trolls, toys, specifically the noodle arm dolls like Spaghetti Betty and such. A LOT of the things in these movies is based on the trolls and other toys from different eras, as well as absurdity world building which is really fun!
I also thought the troll series was bad at first, but after I got introduced to pop music and started listening to the first song from the trolls series, can’t stop the feeling I actually grew a really liking to it
Is Trolls 3 really that bad? At least it's not as bad as Boss Baby. And at least it has no poorly-written obvious twist villains. In a vacuum it's an enjoyable romp for kids, it's clearly not overshooting for Ratatouille or Toy Story heights and it has a good redeemed villain who doesn't get off scot-free just because "I'm good now".
Don't worry, it's pretty obvious that he's just nitpicking on this movie. Ever since his first review to the 3rd movie trailer it's obvious that he isn't pleased with it.
Don't know why he treats it like it's the most offensive thing he's seen though, but then again it's an open opinion video. 🤷
(Also I agree, may this movie not have been the most plot-wise creative, atleast it was entertaining at the level that the trolls movie were always complimented for. And they explored many things in sequels that other movies never really get into trying.)

Not gonna lie, i actually like this one. Out of all 3 Trolls movie, this is the BEST one. And at the very least, this movie fixed most of 1 and 2's issues. Trolls Band Together gets a 8/10 from me.

There are good kids movies like the grinch, but just because they are 4 kids, that does not mean that it can just be a mediocre or bad movie. Good kids movies happen and when bad ones are criticized you should not defend them.

Honestly, this film really surprised me.
It has its flaws (I didn't find the "lost family" plot that interesting and I honestly wanted the brothers to work more for that harmony, they literally abandoned a baby over their drama, they deserved more obstacles), of course, but it's a real upgrade compared to the first two.
I especially loved the fact that at the end, Veneer doesn't get away.
He still helped and worked with his sister and her evil plan, even if he had a change of heart, the movie still didn't push the: "If a villain suddenly becomes good, then you MUST instantly forgive them and they can avoid making up for their actions" bullcrap.
No, he actually goes to jail for it and knows he deserves it, nobody gets pushed and forced to forgive him and nobody tries to tell the protagonists that it's their job to redeem and fix him.
This is a really good message and it's rarely seen in kids' movies.
Now, I just hope we'll get a series (hopefully better than the animated one that's already there) that will expand the world building and let us see more of everything the movies and series showed us, because honestly, with all the musical genre and toys (since the characters are based on those) out there, there's the chance to do some incredible world building work in a way that can appease everyone of all age and might be honestly interesting.

This is honestly my favorite Trolls movie. The only complaint I have is not getting a full version of Sweet Dreams.

I liked the first one, the second one is forgettable... But i loved the third one. I saw it twice in theaters, and then sat in for some moments during free time on my shifts (i work at a theater). The soundtrack is actually really good and the jokes were funny. I agree the family aspect was pushing it when Viva was introduced, but minor oversight. Velvet and Veneer CARRIED the movie though. Best part of the entire film.

Honestly I loved trolls 3 but some parts felt very rushed like poppy’s sister part when they could have saved her for another movie and branch’s brother showing up at the wedding felt so rushed but I still loved the movie
honestly, my only problem with this movie is that it completely ignores the second movie aaand that krimp (or crimp idk how to write it), the assistant, should also be in prison because she did the exact same things and even invented the shoulder pads that did the most harm.
but this final action scene is AMAZING. i love the remix of songs, i love the movements of velvet and veneer. and those flowy-stretchy movement are consistent, they actually twist and stretch throughout the move and it's not just when the plot needs them to be. and they are probably the most realistic villains? like, if in our world it was possible to steal talent like that, this would've 100% happened way to often.
anyway, good movie, good songs, great visuals like the movements and the water beads ocean, over all, pretty good movie.

I think I'm really starting to get sick of these animation/movie review channels. It just feels like cheap bait at this point. The trolls movies are not the greatest thing known to man don't get me wrong but they're still extremely fun and have pretty cool animation. Yet again not amazing but not TERRIBLE. I feel like when it comes to these channels if something isn't the next Original Lion King it's automatically labeled as terrible which is stupid. Sometimes kids and family movies can just be fun. Not everything has to have some deep philosophical story telling.
These videos are just "turn your brain off and leave on in the background for sound" nowadays.

Dreamworks restricted the staff from using the second movie's character roster when they're making the series TrollsTopia since the movies decide their next adventure.
Not only this movie flat out forgets the existence of many Troll tribes besides Cooper's brother, but the second movie's plot is barely a factor for the third movie.
Say what you want about the Hotel Transylvania movies, but at least they bothered to bring Mr. Tinkles from the Puppy! short for future movies, even if it's just roster fodder.
As someone who actively DESPISES Trolls, I actually enjoyed this one.
Sure it might not make sense but characters were less annoying and at least the stupid Jame Courdan troll wasn't there for the whole movie.
Also a little off topic, there is a plot hole that I noticed while rewatching because yk Branch loses his color when his grandma gets eaten by the burgens. But at the end of this movie, an old band he was in shows up. WHAT DO YOU MEAN AN OLD BAND HE WAS IN, HE DIDNT WANT TO SING AGAIN???

This is my most favorite movie. I've watched all the trolls over 25 times this year since the 3rd one came out. All the movies are the same timeliness. Just cause you don't pay enough attention to connect the dots doesn't mean they don't.

Ngl, loved this movie. I get weirdly embarrassed admitting i like the Trolls franchise (probably because i got into it in HS) but this one was fun, im happy it got nominated for sh*t! My friend and mom even liked it. It has a catchy soundtrack, fun animation, good humor, doable dances, fun antagonists, stable romance and Ramón is my fav so him getting more spotlight was a win for me.
Is it perfect? Hell no, the timeline is iffy (especiallyif you bring in the 14 season show), plots arent fleshed out, "wait grandma's dead?" joke 😑, poppy's sister was unnecessary and could've been used in a way better way but I was happier with it than with Kung fu panda 4.

idk if it'll be unpopular opinion or not, but i really enjoyed it movie. like, i mean it, i've watched it 48 times by now lmaoo. despite predictable plot i still had lots of fun while watching it and i laughed more than i expected to (and i got to watching it with a super negative mindset towards the brand, not gonna lie). also i absolutely love Velvet and Veneer, it's kinda obvious they're whole character is a wink to the audience that grew up with trolls so generally gen Z and i love it, because the humor is amazing (still quoting stop attacking me to this day). last thing - the songs. while most of them were covers, there were some original too (for eg. watch me work which absolutely eats). in conclusion if you treat the movie as just a silly thing focusing on the visuals and music it's fun. (and about what Velvet and Veneer are - they're called the people of Mount Rageous, but the fanbase shortened it to just Mount Rageans/Rageons and they're based on betty spaghetty dolls)

First Trolls was a movie made when I was a smol child that won't stop getting into my freaking head.
The second one was the absolute bane of my existance and I was left traumatised after watching. None of that was "happy".
The third one??? Somehow pretty cool to watch. I didn't expect a "good" movie from the tiny troll toys that all are confirmed to have ADHD or autism that dance and sing uncontrollably consistantly.
