Yay! Another Vector vid! However, it hurt watching your bots limping around 90% of the time. I want to see Vector’s speed and control return.
Yeah me too! I was more cautious this tournament due to the smallness of the box, I also lost my magnets every single round which made vector sluggish. So I'm working on making it more zippy in the battlebox and keep the mags protected!
Glad my son's VIPER Tiny ESC's, came in handy for the drive stricken Gruinator! Can't leave any bot behind, the show must go on!

If you are still looking for a sturdy material for vectors rails, SRPP(self reinforced polypropelene) could definitely be worth a look at, It can be tough to source, but it is stronger and more rigid than polycarbonate and light at the same time.

For those PCBWay parts, did you specify the uprights to be UHMW or just "PE"? Last time I checked they don't offer UHMW as a standard CNC material and will use HDPE instead. But you can specify "other material" and request it.
Yeah they are UHMW, I had to specify in "Other Material" UHMW as you said it wasn't a standard material. But I was able to get 4 rails in UHMW as prototypes so they seem to work pretty good!
Gru-inator has drive troubles similar to my ant: are you sure that the screws are not going more than 2mm into the face plate? Or are you clamping the drive motor in place?
My bot only had 1.8mm of screw engagement, by the TPU mount I made deformed allowing for 2-3mm of engagement. This meant I fried at least 3 repeat robotics motors, or $60 of mistakes caused by me forgetting that TPU is flexible.
The brushed motors are actually not screwed in place, their press-fit into the TPU body. Most of the problems that we had facing Gru-inator like the Motors failing was due to over volting them with the previous 4s setup. Which damaged the motors, which intern lead to finicky driving. If you run 3s on them then their perfectly fine.
I may 3D Print some more shock absorption into the wheels as the shock of some hits broke a few teeth in some of the gears but that is pretty rare, but foam is pretty good on its own.

considering I've mostly seen vector fight in these small arenas, I think he'd benefit from gearing down his drive motors a bit. he seems very twitchy and hard to control. Also, the extra torque definitely couldn't hurt. Also, I'm wondering why gru-inator constantly seems to be running on one drive motor. Seems like at least one drive motor is always down and it gets stuck driving in circles.
Yeah I have thought about that too, I'm considering getting some different gear ratio gear boxes for smaller arenas might help significantly. And I've noticed that too, I think its the frame, when I screw down the plates sometimes their off slightly and can twist the chassis causing one of the wheels to not have contact. Ill have to see if I can fix that for the future, thank you for pointing that out!
And in these cases usually the drive goes funky on metal floors when the magnets fall off, I think I have a solution to rectify it so hopefully it gets fixed :)

It doesn't have a name yet, but I wanted to see if I could make a 1 lbs crusher since I haven't really seen anyone in the antweight class using that type of weapon successfully.

@@TeamVector441 Thank you! It's been a heck of a journey to get it to this point. My current drive advice is if you decide to swamp to fancy ESC's, make sure the end points are programmed to match your Tx so you can actually drive full speed 😅
Also, if you stick with RWD, I'd consider adding some kind of runners on the front to serve only as a low friction point with the ground.
For example on Blight, I have four spikes cut from PTFE that screw to the chassis, and protrude ~1mm past the wedge. The tips are shaped to slide over imperfections easily while only having a ~1x3mm patch contacting the ground. They made it drive so much more consistently than when it was the wedge contacting the ground.
Oh I see, my current drive system is the repeat dual brushless escs, paired with the brushless mk3 motors that are with it. I think their already tuned for max speed but I could be wrong on that (I have no idea how to tune them lol). And that's really interesting with the PTFE config you have, I might have to explore doing that with Vector or figure out the 4 wheel drive on metal but that's really good advice! Thank you!

which filament would be best to build a ant weight combat robo from TPU, Nylon, UHMW, 7075 Aluminium, or any other element. Which filament would be best according to you.
Depends on what you want to build! Keep in mind UHMW, aluminum and any other metals are usually pretty expensive to use and make. I usually recommend TPU as its always a great material to use for the frame and armor of your bot. But be careful though you might need some stiffer parts as well to keep it rigid.
And I would go for the other materials you mentioned if your looking to spend a lot more and make a very completive bot then I would recommend those other materials as well. I'm making a video soon on how to make your own combat robot and what materials to choose and such. Hopefully when that comes out it can also help!!

What controller do you use
I use the Radiolink RC4GS V3, its a rc car style controller I modified to work with Vector. Hope this helps!

Do you use latex coating on your foam tires?
Not at the moment, I do wanna try that as I have some silicone that I can try using for it. I do wanna try it though!
