What’s so brilliant is that it relies on phonetics rather than actual spelling, which not only opens up so many more possibilities, but is also just really fun to see and listen to.
Really like the little changes they made for the transition to film on this song. For obvious reasons, the incredible stage choreography wouldn't have translated, so to introduce Hortensia as the jaded troublemaker who has no Fs left to give by singing the first run through as a sorrowful warning was a really nice touch. Fun Fact: in the making of the original musical, Hortensia had a bigger role, and a few songs and everything, but they cut that out because the musical was a _Matilda_ musical, not a _Hortensia_ one. (For those who have read the book, Hortensia is looked up to by Matilda and Lavender because she tries to be a rebel against the Trunch.) Nice to see them be able to bring back some of what Hortensia brings to the table in the translation to film. I don't know what gongs there are for choreographers, but the choreographer of this film needs to win all of them. This, Bruce, Revolting Children, even the Chokey Chant... the choreography is so, so good. It's so Dahlian... if Dahl was good at choreography, anyway. It almost feels like it could be a kind of seminal moment where people realise just how much you can do with kids in terms of choreography.
The original movie gives me such fond childhood memories, so I thought watching this as a 23 year-old would mean that no matter how hard they try, they could never beat it for me. I was wrong though. This film blew my fucking mind. The cast (especially the kids) put every since spark of energy in their bodies into being the best they could possibly be. The songs are fantastic as well. This was brilliantly filmed. All of them were putting in 100% energy,AND having full concentration AT ALL times, and knowing the full lyrics. Making telling Lavender and Matilda about school MUCH more exciting and fun,EVEN telling them fully about the dangers of the school. Walking, individually, past a classroom door, containing each letter of the alphabet, alongside using a FANTASTIC lyric containing that letter, relating to the dangers of the school,in which is a PERFECT head up to the 2 new students about the punishments, basically whole summary of it. Relief that lovely Miss Honey ascorted Matilda and Lavender into their classroom JUST in time,so that they didn't get into trouble with Miss Trunchball, which would NO WAY have been a good start to life at a new school. 10/10 here, this has to be one of the best songs i have EVER seen being filmed alright.❤❤❤

You listen here, my dear
You'll be punished so severely if you step out of line and if you cry it will be double
You should stay out of trouble and remember to be extremely careful
Why?
(Why!?)
Why? Didn't you hear what we said!?
I have become aware that some of you are not yet in class
Correct this, you have five seconds to comply
A, B, C, D, E, F, G (five)
H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P (four!)
Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X (three)
Y, Y, Y, Y, Y, Y, Y (two)
Lavender, Matilda, inside, quick!
(One) Just you wait for Phys-Ed
POV: u want to be the teachers pet having the ✨main character moment✨

Absolutely, absolutely, absolutely brilliant...!!
I'm in love with this movie!!!!❤❤❤❤
I remember I watched Matilda a long time ago in school it’s great!❤
I want to remeber this whole song so bad
The nice thing about memorizing this song is that it’s hard to get the order of the lyrics wrong, since they have to match the order of the alphabet. XD
It's ez
@@JayietheRiverWarrior try to remember just the special words. (A-ble B-eing C Trage-D etc.) First. Then learn the mid-lyrics. (The last part(AbcdefghijklmnopqrstuvYYYYYYYz)) hope this helped.
@@AnimationCreationz even the number of Ys is right lmao
@@Hoooward XD. Didnt do it on purpose but gonna pretend I did
What a genius songggg 😮😮😮❤❤❤❤
My mummy says I'm a miracle.
My daddy says I'm his special little guy.
I am a princess,
And I am a prince.
Mum says I'm an angel. So you think you're A-ble To survive this mess by B-ing A prince or a princess, you will soon C,
There's no escaping trage-D .
And E-ven If you put in heaps of F-ort,
You're just wasting ener-G,
'Cause your life as you know it is H-ent history.
I
Have suffered in this J-ail .
I've been trapped inside this K-ge for ages,
This living h-L,
But if I try I can rem-M-ber,
Back before my life had N-ded,
Before my happy days were O-ver,
Before I first heard the P-ling of the bell...
Like you I was Q-rious,
So innocent I R-sked a thousand questions,
But, unl-S you want to suffer,
Listen up and I will T-ch you a thing or two.
U, listen here, my dear,
You'll be punished so se-V-rely if you step out of line,

What's phys. ed.?
Physical education!
My mummy says I'm a miracle.
My daddy said I would be the teacher's pet.
School is really fun, according to my mum.
Dad says I would learn the alphabet.
The alphabet? You'd better learn to listen, kid!
A-B-C-D-E-F-G

Ah yes, the Broadway (Original) Version
I think the changes made do make it clearer on screen, but I do like the way the stage version intertwines this song with Miracle.
if you didn't know netflix did not make these lyrics it actually started a few years back when people would do stage performances on matilda this was created by them
If I had the passion long ago, I could have actually acted in this movie
The most sweetest girl 💕😻
For some reason, when Trunchbull uses the commlink at 3:27, I first thought I was hearing the voice of Bertie Carvell, the original Trunchbull on both the West End and Broadway. Nope, turns out, it’s just Emma.
I thought the same thing.
i need an instrumental version of this
Incorporating the letters into the visuals feels like something that should only be possible in an animated movie, but they pulled it off
Have you seen how the stage show did it?
My Favorite Movie Matilda 2022 Movie
00:34 song starts
00:59 I have suffered in this jail
1:20 like you I was curious
1:39 why?
2:10 end
My favorite part is 2:13 because I wasn’t expecting the lyrics in the first verse to match up with the alphabet, but then the room letters made it very clear.
When I who's 6 years old I who's watching this movie 🍿❤❤❤❤❤❤
I just love this song

I like the way they used the alphabet
