Couldn't agree more, I actually thought that was where Kenty was going in this segment. Back in the day before the Bunker the video ref gave benefit of the doubt if they couldn't overturn what the on the field ref was thinking or if the video ref really had no idea they would make it ref's call which in the case of Thursday night would have awarded the try to Manu because that was the original decision (unless he was swayed by the video evidence to change his mind). I remember all the calls for the Bunker to come in saying how much it would revolutionise the game and how good it would be, literally the moment it came in people hated it. Sometimes the NRL just needs to learn that getting the basics right is more than good enough.

Something needs to change. Why was the Roosters try disallowed and the Penrith tey was given. Why? Both tries should have been given. If anything, the Penrith player that was obstructed was further away from where the try was scored and disallowed. I'm with Buzz, felt like switching it off. That decision cost the Roosters the game.
I feel like ruling something on discretion is the correct way to go about it because there is too much gamesmanship amongst the players when there is a black and white ruling whereas if the refs and the bunker can blatantly see someone flopping and they rule on it, it takes away the cynical gamesmanship. Yes, there may be a few that they still get wrong but right now, the players and the coaches are making an absolute joke out of the game and the rules when these sorts of things are ruled black and white. For me, personally, I'd rather watch games that are determined more by the actual abilities and skills of the players as opposed to something where the end result is based on who can cheese the rules better. Coaches like Bellamy, Cleary, Brad Arthur and Trent Robinson are the best at coaching their players to play based around gamesmanship, especially around their spines. Jahrome Hughes, Munster, Tedesco, Mitch Moses, Gutherson and Luai will flop for at least 1 or 2 obstructions a game and they get away with it without fail.

I dont normally blame refs or the bunker because at the end of the day its a hard hard job but the refs and the bunker have been absolutely horrible this season.I was okay with the jared decision personally bc i just cant stand jared and i think he tried changing his line into edwards but its still a tough call and theres been so many bad ones this season
Both Jake and Jarrad went to sleep. If they kept awareness of where the opposition players were they could have avoided a penalty. As a Manly fan it felt like a tough call, especially when it cost the game, but you just have to suck it up and play to the rules and interpretations. I don’t know if anyone from FOX LEAGUE reads these comments but that weekend of footy was actually the last one that I will watch. What a disaster the game has become. I was so incensed, that I emailed my old footy coach from 1991 ,(who is still coaching in the Newcastle league and has nrl coaching experience) and have a huge rant.
