I think this is very possible, especially with all of the very plausible Switch 2 rumors and Nintendo's own words on the Switch 2, it very well may be sooner rather than later.
I really REALLY hope that they use the Claymation style of Pikmin 2's advertisements! Pikmin is the only franchise I feel could really work well with an arts & crafts asthetic
HARD AGREE! I think this could be such a fun way to explore this genre. We could also see the return of moss in it to give a main character if we wanted to move away from humanoid leaders!
I dream of one day getting a Pikmin farming simulator spin-off... Like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing but Pikmin. Just a chill game full of adorable Pikmin,
a pikmin garden/farming type game could be pretty fun, maybe using different types of environments for growing different pikmin? like a warmer area for reds, a dark area for glow, a cave for rocks, things like that! it would be cool to see the different conditions pikmin would need to be cultivated in if someone like a botanist or biologist were to start studying them.
I think a Mario + Rabbids style of gameplay would be really fun. You would play as Olimar, controlling Pikmin on a grid, and it could implement some sort of long-rang Pikmin. This would also work well to fill a gap that might be made if Ubisoft doesn’t agree to make more M+R, as they considered Sparks of Hope an underperforming failure.
I could see it being weirdly likely for a custom make your own cave maker style game. Like Mario maker, but for fans to take control and make their own dungeon crawler. It's still Dandori styled. But make custom and such.
An idea I have for a Spin-off of Pikmin is Tower Defense we already seen some elements of games like that in Pikmin 4 with Night Expedition and I would love to see it expanded upon like during the day you build wall trap to defend the Luminol and as the game progresses new harder enemies and new areas will unlock
A time based pikmin spin-off I would love to see in the future is a mario party style game. Time could affect the boards similar to Mario party 6, you would collect specific pikmin to help traverse the board to collect treasures, and also the minigames could utilize dandori. There could be a board dedicated to a specific pikmin type and time could cause specific enemies to show up anf alter the board. There can be a lot of possibilities and also The Pikmin Park could be brought back to act as the Mario party 2 coin bank where you can not only unlock minigames, but also other extra characters, game modes, and adding enemies to a pikmin museum. The unlock structure would be having a certian total of a specific pikmin instead of spending pikmin to unlock the content.
@@VantageEmblem Thanks for the feedback. Also another suggestion for a puzzle game spin-off. Puzzles and Dragons Pikmin addition. You can tame and use the pikmin enemies. I wish Nintendo did more than the Mario bros addition for puzzles and dragons.
Off-topic (though there's a non-zero chance something like this is mentioned): I would be so down for some sort of Hey Pikmin Metroidvania. One giant map where progress is dependant on what the Captain has and what Pikmin you have. Edit: Also imagine Pikmin Lemmings. I don't know if it'd be good but it's a funny thought.
Imagine a "Pikmin Fighters" game. XD Yellow Pikmin could be the lightweight jumping-focused fighter, Red Pikmin could be the all-around tutorial fighter (i.e. like Mario in Smash Bros.), Purple Pikmin could of course be the grounded heavyweight fighter, White Pikmin could be the fast but frail combo fighter akin to Sheik, etc.
I think a pikmin cave creator where we create our own cave and choose the enemies, hazards, treasures, pikmin types, etc would be fun. Another game I think would be cool is a game similar to monster hunter stories or Dragon quest monsters where we could take control of enemies (maybe through parasitic bulbmin like pikmin.) And fight other enemies in the series.
i wish they'd make a PVP-only Pikmin. It's an RTS after all, and the battle modes in 2 and 3 were excellent but limited. Expanding upon them could revolutionize the RTS PVP genre like Splatoon revolutionised team-vs-team third person shooty games.
If there is a pikmin spinoff happening in the near future, I can see them taking them going in one of 3 directions. I think the most likely genre could be a tactics game like Advance Wars or FE. I could see an RTS focused on gathering and building similar to Factorio working. And last and least likely is a Classic Paper Mario style RPG
Now I am biased because I really like these genres but I think a roguelike/lite or Civilization game could be interesting! Either a kinda stranded in a constantly changing world or the Pikmin creating civilizations kinda parallel to tge real world! Or combining them cpuld work but seperate would work best IMO!
I would go crazy for a roguelike/lite Pikmin game, it could maybe be something like Pikmin 2/4's caves? And a 4x/civ-like Pikmin game could be AMAZING, I would love to see it. Any ideas for how something like that would play out?
IK its unprobable but my dream gotta be a RPG pikmin, imagine using a purple as a hammer, or a red laughing and being happy as you use this pikmin to cut a bulborb in half
Here's a heretical idea: what if the game focused on the enemy creatures? Maybe you play a Louie, who's modified or busted his whistle, and that allows him to order around the various non-Pikmin lifeforms. As for which of these ideas I'd like to see the most, it'd probably be a puzzle game, because I am a huge nerd. I almost want to say the strategy game, but I expect it'd end up being a mass-produced units game like Advanced Wars or Wargroove, and those aren't really my style of strategy game. Fire Emblem's unique units are more my vibe. And I think you might be over-analyzing the hourglass. I think it likely just means that the official announcement for this game was planned to be soon. I could be completely wrong about that, though.
A Pikmin RPG would be cool… no Captain, just some Pikmin who’ve been taught how to survive by them, exploring the world by themselves, making weapons and armor for themselves, Ect.
IF the leak is to be trusted (which we all know we have past troubles with leaks), there are two ideas that I would say I'd absolutely ADORE playing. 1. A fully committed Metroidvania that stands out by using the series' classic management of both day cycles and armies of tiny creatures. The way I envision it, you're probably collecting things as typical, and the bosses you would face in certain chambers would unlock places to move your base Pikmin 4 style, that way what's tucked away FAR beyond reasonable boundaries will become salvageable. The ideal scenario is being constantly put in a position to choose between venturing out further or taking on a boss with your current army/strength. 2. An RTS and/or God game that's essentially compressing the same overall narrative that the Pikmin themselves go through in the main series into one package, which is starting from a species on the verge of complete extinction evolving over time (possibly via guidance) to become something that is able to perfectly sustain themselves within the ecosystem. As for story implications, I wouldn't expect much, but I'd love some insight on potentially the collective thought process behind the Pikmin themselves. While they do help our characters in particular, it's been progressively shown that they have rather... problematic... ways of evolving and maintaining themselves.
They should do a level builder like Mario maker or like forge in the halo series to build caves, can have a file share and can really make some interesting levels
Didn't expect to see footage of my room in here from the night mode leaks 🤣 I really want a spinoff to be in the Claymation style of the Pikmin 2 Promo Material!!!! Please!!!!! BULBMIN Is GENIUS and a name which works well and can still be recognised as a Pikmin game. Or.. MIN game. amazing Video Vantage 💙💙💙💙💙💙
AH SHOOT I NEED TO CREDIT YOU FOR THAT FOOTAGE, I'm right on it! I agree though about the claymation style, it would be GENUINELY amazing! Thank you so much for watching!
Hey! Pikmin did not primarily fail because it was a bad video game, it failed because it released at a terrible time. 1 - Desire for a new mainline Pikmin game was high among fans 2 - Pikmin as a brand was at a fairly weak point in it's history 3 - Nintendo as a brand had lost significant faith amongst consumers 4 - The 3DS had already begun a significant downfall in sales and popularity Hey! Pikmin isn't *bad*, it just wasn't something people wanted. In a world where the Switch can play EVERY mainline Pikmin, AND we have a proper new mainline game, even a straight port of Hey! Pikmin would succeed very well (by Pikmin standards, anyway.)
I was always an advocate that Hey Pikmin wouldn't have been nearly as bad of a release if it wasn't during the drought. The game itself is fine as a spinoff, it just shouldn't have been the only pikmin content in 6 years.
Could a Hey! Pikmin sequel with actual Dandori elements work? Let me know!
Hopefully not
I think so
Nobody expects the Louie cooking sim
I'd be 100% fine with that, honestly
I have wanted this game for so long
F*ck you, now i NEED It😭🙏
Over-Louie'd
I can't help but feel like people are overthinking the hourglass emoji... I'm pretty sure they're just saying we'll have to wait and see.
EXACTLY
The ⌛️is More Like Its Coming Soon than a Gameplay Hint

I really REALLY hope that they use the Claymation style of Pikmin 2's advertisements! Pikmin is the only franchise I feel could really work well with an arts & crafts asthetic
11:27 Pikmin but lemmings sounds fun especially if it shows how the pikmin operate without a captain around
HARD AGREE! I think this could be such a fun way to explore this genre. We could also see the return of moss in it to give a main character if we wanted to move away from humanoid leaders!
Imagine a Pikmin "Creature Collector" game, like Pokemon but with Pikmin. That would be awesome!
If this is real personally I'd want Tower Defense, it's proved it could work with the night missions in 4, and maybe they could just build off that
I dream of one day getting a Pikmin farming simulator spin-off... Like Stardew Valley or Animal Crossing but Pikmin. Just a chill game full of adorable Pikmin,
I'd LOVE that
But kinda like plants vs zombies? I think your idea could be like we need to grow x amount of Pikmin to defeat an enemy
Superb video. (Although your Metroidvania section gave me the mental image of playing MP4 and Sylux pulls off his helmet to reveal Louie).
13:48 I was very concerned for a second when you said "Pikmin shipping" game.

If they did a piklopedia simulator they could definitely add to the lore of the series and give even more descriptions for all the creatures
I've been waiting for PIkmin to have more spinoff games. It's seems like there's tons of potential ideas for a franchise like this.
17:44 Pikmin garden sounds awesome making environments to raise different types of pikmin and other creatures

I think it’d be cool to have this Pikmin game in a different artstyle. Maybe it’s handrawn or cell shaded? Those both would fit Pikmin really well imo
I would love a pikmin rpg! I feel like combining the completly difrent types of strategies from pikmin and a turnbased rpg would work really well.
I think a pikmin cave creator where we create our own cave and choose the enemies, hazards, treasures, pikmin types, etc would be fun.

RPGs are my favorite genre of games, so I would love to see the series take that route, even if it's unlikely
You know, I could see a spin off where the shipping company makes a new base on PNF 404 and basically be Lethal Company but with Pikmin.
Missed opportunity to mention pikmin maker a game I pray for one day
i wish they'd make a PVP-only Pikmin. It's an RTS after all, and the battle modes in 2 and 3 were excellent but limited. Expanding upon them could revolutionize the RTS PVP genre like Splatoon revolutionised team-vs-team third person shooty games.
As long as we dont have to wait 10 years for a game. I hopped in the Fandom weeks before pikmin 4 came out

9:03 if they go the metroid route its gotta have a different style to it than the metroid games for gameplay
Agreed - it's got to have something dramatically different and way more, well, ✨Pikmin✨to it to set itself apart from Metroid
I actually would love a Hey Pikmin 2. I think there’s a ton of untapped potential with a 2D Pikmin game
20:41 if we get a game where the pikmin help farm stuff it's a great opportunity for the koppatites to return
Its actually a Nintendogs sequel featuring Oatchi, Moss, and the Ancient Sirehound.
I certainly wouldn't mind another game like Hey pikmin especially if it has better graphics and small enemies are less annoying to deal with
That's how I feel - I think there's a lot of issues with the first game that could be easily avoided with the release of a sequel!
Honestly, i think the hourglass emoji meant the game is either coming soon, or it's coming farther in the future
