I remember my hs basketball coach made us run suicides all practice while our point guard stood in the middle of the court apologizing to us for disrespecting a teacher… we were mad asf 😡
why was yall running an he was standing in the middle?
@@alfonsohayes9364 collective punishment tactic. they do it in the military too. you punish everyone EXCEPT the guy at fault. the idea is to basically make everyone suffer for one guys actions, showing that a mistake won't just hurt him, he'll be responsible for everyone else getting punished, and if he keeps f'ing up, the team is going to start to resent him...
I remember that when I played football that shit sucks 😂😂
Or when one dude can't make the time, so we all had to run it over n over n over again until they did make it, I remember a time, not all that long ago when if we weren't 60-40 n looking at man/ball the coach would whip the basketball at our backs, or the coach would actually raise his voice and used words that probably wouldn't be acceptable today but we all knew he loved us and just wanted us to do better, become better, accept responsibility, and if you weren't doing your job you are letting down those who are counting on you

Keep in mind this happens at all schools but its never made public
At least prime addressing it directly
We all know that but most of these coaches don’t give of damn if you pass or fail as long as you are NCAA eligible
Pretty much. People who disagree probably didn’t go to a public school because some of those kids do the bare minimum to not giving an f at all. For every group of students there’s always 5 problematic one.
No it doesn't, sorry, I was a former college all american (high school all-american) and national champion and I can say for a fact that my coaches NEVER had a meeting like this and I spoke with other players from other schools whom also stated this attitude of coaches. it might be different now with all the over the table monies but for the most part, look at the graduation rates across the board for college athletes. Coach Prime is rare and yes, there are some others like him but on the most part, few. John Wooden at UCLA back in the day was this type of man as was Pops Gathers ( sorry for the spelling) at Winston-Salem
I’m surprised in college tho
You might not like Deion, but you got to respect his commitment to teaching his players responsibility, accountability & challenging them to be successful in life. He may only win a handful of games next year but he's preparing his players to be successful men in this cold cruel world out here!
As a teacher, this is going on throughout every grade level!
my mother has been a teacher for 30yrs, she said its now starting in elementary schools, and that the elementary school kids are now making ppl quit more than the high school kids. shits nuts

As a professor I can attest this ain’t just at Colorado. It’s a generational entitlement and also year and years of training that has allowed these athletes to do the least as long as they can play football. Including going to great schools not just college but high school.
As a professor, I can attest that teaching online via Zoom shows pure laziness. It was carried over since the COVID lockdowns by some who are too lazy to leave the luxury of their offices or homes. That's also part of the problem. Coach Prime should demand that his players go to a real class with a professor willing to physically come into the classroom.
What do you mean by generational entitlement? Can you explain?
Awwww yes it's always a generational issue lol All generations before were just the model citizens of everything. Shut the hell up
110 percent agree with Coach Prime and Stephen A!!!

And that's why I applaud Coach Prime. Holding everybody accountable, on and off the football field. My friend is a professor in Florida, and he teached in Georgia. Coach prom isn’t like some other coaches he takes a kids education very seriously it’s either you’re gonna go to the NFL or you’re gonna graduate with the college degree
If he actually took education seriously, he'd have to forfeit every single one of his games because 95% of his roster would be academically ineligible.
I can imagine a thing occurring in high school but not at a college level. Probably best to not have them all in the same class at the same hour.
Can imagine it happening in college more than high school
Athletes have a strict school schedule where they have to attend classes at certain periods. Also they all attend different classes because not everyone has the same Major.
College athletes usually turn every class they take into a joke and have to have the professor make all kinds of exceptions for them.
Its gross. They need a dedicated minor leagues for football and get it out of college
@@danr154It is not fair to the players that are “A” students to be lumped into a group that don’t understand why they are there. CU has athletes that are both in the classroom and on the field. Watch what you say as it doesn’t apply to everyone!

Everybody is always quick to hate on Deion (sometimes rightfully so) but you have to give him fairness when he’s doing what he should be doing. Those kids needed to hear it.
Don't always agree with Stephen on many topics. But this? This is truth right here! Well said Stephen well said!
I was at a booster lunch years ago. The coach of a certain high caliber D-I program told the room, “the program had trouble this past week getting some freshman players to class.” He closed with, “we had an attitude adjustment and we are back on track.”
I was at Colorado in the 1970's when we were a top 20 team. I saw football players go from playing on Television, being featured on sports pages to being dish washers at Denny's. Saw the same attitude the professor described in his letter from student athletes who were my classmates. That's why I'm a coach Prime fan, 90% of Colorado football players will not get pasted the combine. Don't leave CU WITHOUT A PIECE OF PAPER.

DING DING DING🌟!!! There it is...the statement I was looking for. The parents idolizing their children instead of parenting them. These children nowadays are entitled as ever. Look at Shaq's son Shareef, Lebron's son Bronny... haven't even done anything but think they deserve to go to the League SMH.
It's the parents who dropped the ball by not installing a strong foundation within their children to prepare them for life in college and beyond.

Success is the great silencer. Succeed in class, the professor doesn't talk. Succeed on the field, the professor doesn't talk. Succeed in the community, the professor doesn't talk. You don't have to cover all of the bases, but you have to cover a couple if you want a pass here and there.

Love this whole video.
The question has to be asked why wasn't the coaching staff or football staff aware of this situation before it escalated this much? At some schools they have checks in with the players to make sure they are going to class, they have people talking with the professors to make sure they are doing things right, and in a lot of cases they make sure the student-athletes are doing it right.

They weren’t instilled discipline at home and/or discipline wasn’t carried out or supported wholeheartedly during their school years during some time prior to college. In other words, troubled behaviors were ignored after becoming high school favorites, at the least and now, here we are.
These guys WILL be denied further opportunity when their lives are led with bad behavior and not led with disciplined behavior. I understand how this professor feels and so do educators across the nation. This experience that this professor is having isn’t different from the experience of some first grade educators. I know. I have family who are in this line of professional.
I hope the professor gives the guys the grade they earned and dismiss them from the class each day they are disruptive. And, if necessary refuse to accept the individuals back into class without them having a scheduled meeting with Coach Prime, their direct coach, the professor, the dean, and the student. I’d suggest each student walk through this fire individually. And, be penalized from both ends of the system if it’s decided to be the best course of action. There ought to be a recourse for threats and or acts of intimidation to anyone in the system including students reporting such acts.
Privileges including NILS or starting roles on the team or any other qualifying penalty should the student not exhibit excellent behavior as an academic immediately.
I would recommend everything is implemented immediately. This gives instantaneous shift in action for the student. If the student need a tutor to catch up it’s his responsibility to get one. The professor should not pass any athlete who hasn’t produced passing work.
There is a black girl on the CU WBB team that just finished her last year of eligibility and has earned an undergraduate degree in three years followed by two masters degrees!

I don't know as a fact, but I wouldn't be surprised (I taught in the NYC public schools) if athletically talented kids were pushed along in school throughout their education without learning fundamentals- appropriate reading and writing levels etc. Guessing at a college level they might not be able to follow along with what is being taught and cover it up with disrespectful, arrogant and distracting behavior. They should be given tutors to learn basics and break down the subject matter. They possibly feel entitled as they have been treated that way- encouraged to get through school only on athletics, academic ability not enforced...
I'm a teacher and a coach and kids today do not know how to listen. They show up to class without any materials no responsibility. These kids have no idea on how to work hard and be focused
So true!
Damn alright Coach Smith preach!
One of Stephen A's best. Until the term student-athlete goes away from professional college sports, part of their job is to go to class and do something viable while going to class. NIL money might be nice...but it will not cover a person long term. Very few are going to make big money in the pros. Either get a degree or master a trade, because without one and/or the other, it will not take long to go from 21 and a bag of money to 25 and homeless.
Nothing new here. My best friend growing up went to Arkansas in the 1980’s. He talked about the “Special Tests” that were given to members of the football team. They would skip class on the days of the tests and would subsequently be given makeup tests that were much easier to pass. Once the other students found this out, they skipped the regular tests, and then had to take the same makeup tests as the football team, making obtaining a good grade much easier.
Describes most students at ANY LEVEL IN AMERICA TODAY. Great job S. and P.
