This crack, only recently exposed from its hiding place in the Earth, is part of Africa's Great Rift Valley. How do you think this geological discovery may impact the surrounding areas?
If tectonic plates move TOGETHER, geothermal energy usage at that place often cause EARTHQUAKES, but NOT if they move AWAY from each other. Therefore, the place in Kenya is PERFECT and IDEAL for geothermal energy plants! Do they have geothermal energy plants there? LET'S BUILD LOTS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY PLANTS THERE! Geothermal energy is climate friendly and inexhaustible!
small lakes and streams will join and become an ocean look at madagascar, that's how it started then look at lake victoria and lake malawi I wouldn't be surprised if that all goes in one piece, possibly those lakes are getting wider
I think the names will stay the same as Africa is already devided into subterms like Northafrica, the Horn and similiar terms. Either a new name will be created or it will stay the same.
"A completely separate continent isn't expected for 50 million years." There's no way I'm sticking around to witness that. Given the mind boggling amount of stuff I can get done in 50 million years, it would be a grand waste of time for me to sit there staring at the ground just so I can impress my friends with, "I was there and saw the WHOLE thing as it was unfolding."
I noticed the crack about 5 years ago, it was sunk in about 12 inches. But it was for like maybe 1 mile... now it's really noticeable, looks like its going to separate, once it fills in with water. Africa is not the only country, there's others that are separating. People don't pay attention to, until it's too late.
The place where it's thought that our species first emerged...fascinating. Anyway the name itself kind of gives it away..it's a *rift valley* , it's supposed to do that and it will indeed eventually break apart
Although nature needs some balance, it (the earth) doesn't get angry. This is actually perfectly normal. We just have to make use of it: with geothermal energy plants!
Volcanic lava etc denote world melting World like Copper Coil if we rotate Copper Coil for many centuries 1st Coil heat 2nd Coil fire 3rd Coil melt Similarly world melting in form of volcanic lava etc
I'm jealous. They can have geothermal energy plants in Kenya at that place (without the risk of additional earthquakes); we in my part of Europe can't have such geothermal energy plants :(
If tectonic plates move TOGETHER, geothermal energy usage at that place often cause EARTHQUAKES, but NOT if they move AWAY from each other. No, the grand canyon was caused by a river carving into land that was elevated because the Farallon/Pacific plate was dipping under the north american plate basically farallon/pacific plate goes under North American Plate This causes the North American Plate to be pushed up Much later a river cuts through the land to take a shorter path to the ground
Its actually due to all the rain the soil cant withstand this much water so it erodes away and is washed. Obstacles standing its path are likely to be destroyed
May God speed this Africa split phenomenon and hope it cuts through the Nile River and we say bye bye to Sudan and Egypt, then Ethiopia will have an everlasting peace.
2 years later, lakes within Rift Valley continue to rise. Are rift valley tectonics plates moving closer or away from each other? Probably the crack suggested something worth investigating. Mt longonot, a dormant volcano that last erupted in 1863 lies in the same region. It can still erupt?

National Geographic its called planet x system. And it just going to get worse.
It's mother nature being angry.
obviously the planet is turning inside out. you better find something to hold on to...

Trump needs to get those african's thtll b gd
I'll wait for part 2 of this video... in 50 million years time...
lol
😂😂
Dude🤣😂🤣
Part 2 is now in 2023 kinda crazy
Your comment isn’t aging well.
We're witnessing the beginning of a new continent. Incredible
small lakes and streams will join and become an ocean
look at madagascar, that's how it started
then look at lake victoria and lake malawi
I wouldn't be surprised if that all goes in one piece, possibly those lakes are getting wider
I wonder if mankind will even exist in 50 million years...
Madagascar 2.0.
I could have sworn I posted this comment like weeks ago. Geeeze how time flies.
How terrifying for those that lived on the fault line
I wouldn't say it's completly terrible. It offers lots of possibilities for geothermal energy plants!
Phoenix Uprising please watch 8 videos of Jim Nduruchi
why else do you think it's called a fault line otherwise
Nothing terrifying next crack will happen 100s of year later
50 million years?
I can't wait that long, i have college!
I want to see this scenery live.😭😭😭
It's wakanda getting ready for thanos
🤣🤣
Watching this in class for assignments
Africa part 2 coming soon ...this is the trailer.
lol
When is the release date? I cannot wait for 50 million years.
What an amazing thing to be witnessing.
I will be waiting a million years to see that
Paul Mathew I don't think you will be alive .
@@luis9286 pfff you dont know anything. he'll clearly be alive during that time.
50 million
*a random part of kenya:* We want our own country!
*nature:* i will fix that
That's the power of God almighty
Parts of Africa are actually splitting off completely into a new continent
Isn't this exciting? While it will be a slow process over the course of millions of years, this truly speaks to how our planet is ever-changing.
Nothing new, this is how India was formed.
Will I call it Africa Senior and Junior
we are seeing the formation of a new continent awesome!
Thanks for your enthusiasm, David! We think seismic activity and natural erosion are awesome points of study, too.
David It is fun for you but what about the harm done to those people in the process?!
ZMysterious Simple just have a mile exclusion zone on both sides of the new fault line.
Wow I didn't even know that happened!
Indeed! This new crack is part of the East African Rift, which runs 3,700 miles long.
Look for the daily nation cover page with that story, they had a really exaggerated photo
this occur soon to witness the most salient feature of Earth🔥🔥🔥🌍🌍
This is awesome ....mother Nature show again that nothing great than her n no 1 can stop her
Shouldn't it be International Geographic?
So after many years that it splits Africa into two pieces, which will be the Africa part? :0
I say that one
I think the names will stay the same as Africa is already devided into subterms like Northafrica, the Horn and similiar terms. Either a new name will be created or it will stay the same.
Hoàng Kim Việt both. New Africa and old
After many years vietnam will sunk bcause earth seismic movement and also global warming. which will be the vietnam part?
So the other landmass will be an island. A huge African island made up of countries.
And now it's 2023 and look what's happening.
More on this subject would be nice

This is not a PROBLEM, this is PERFECT for BUILDING LOTS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY PLANTS! GO FOR IT, Kenyans!
That geologist looks like Hannibal Buress LMAO
Fascinating
Omg this is so sad

Africa ain't a country yo
So what? Do you expect us to stop it from happening?

most races are part neanderthal, except those who stayed in africa, so that came from some place else
That's my county Narok right there...
Jambo... vipi
Just like a frozen planet contracts and creates mountains.... when the planet warms it expands & creates rifts...
I’m really worry. We got to do something.
The world is splitting at the Rift Valley. It means that one part is going to the Asian continent. There is a belief Menelik was never found.
Great!!
Humanity 230000 years later..I wonder what people thought when the land first started cracking.
It's vibranium

I feel bad for the people that was right on top of the crack or that had properties in there
Why do some of your video tags have PLivjPDIt6Ap... in them?
But sometimes the crack can seal. Because the Earth has the ability to seal.
Good luck with that
@@albertayunda5521 It's still Africa.

LET'S BUILD LOTS OF GEOTHERMAL ENERGY PLANTS THERE! Geothermal energy is climate friendly and inexhaustible!
There are a lot of geothermal power projects here
Did grand canyon originate the same way?
No, the grand canyon was caused by a river carving into land that was elevated because the Farallon/Pacific plate was dipping under the north american plate
basically
farallon/pacific plate goes under North American Plate
This causes the North American Plate to be pushed up
Much later a river cuts through the land to take a shorter path to the ground
Nowdays there is no possibility that Africa dividend in two part because they full field that area with soil and rocks...so don't worry
Earlier I thought it is fake.
😮😮😮
Its actually due to all the rain the soil cant withstand this much water so it erodes away and is washed. Obstacles standing its path are likely to be destroyed
Im sure it had something to do with the earthquakes that happened recently.
I hope they make machine time travel before I die

Is there a magnetic anomaly in the southern region Africa? I just heard that on another channel.
CanadianWatcher 693 I'm from Kenya and there has been zero reports of magnetic anomaly reported anywhere.
CanadianWatcher 693 Atleast I've not heard of any yet.
