Accckkk!! 40 years ago. Doesn’t seem that long ago until you wrote that. And, to think it was a few years after Blackout. First song I ever heard from them was (and, still my favorite) No one Like You on the Armed Forces Radio Network in Keiserslatern.
Bisscute, Scorpions are before all of the great metal bands, including maiden, ac/dc in fact, Scorpions were playing their incredible music in the mid sixties. They have been playing their best songs since about 1965 and every metal band has followed their journey. They are the ones who have inspired every other metal band since the early 1970’s 🇦🇺👏👏👏👏🥹🦘😉🤭
It all started with a 16 year old Michael Schenker who wrote nearly the entire first album, Lonesome Crow, and was the original lead guitarist before turning it over to his brother Rudolf and going to UFO.

In this song, rock is a verb, like in the hand that ROCKS the cradle. He's rocking HER and then he goes and rock the attendants of a live concert. Brilliant words play.
It took me years of hearing it after it released before I listened to all the words carefully. Then I wondered how it made it on the radio back then! Your reaction to the lyrics was priceless!!

Still to this day, I am beyond baffled how this song was allowed to play at my High School Prom given the lyrics. But then again, we had a lot of songs like this play at the Prom, so I guess I can't be too surprised lol Not complaining though. Nostaglia. The Scorpions though, are such a great band! So many good songs. This song in particular was a massive commercial success back then. Believe it was their second highest charting song behind Wind of Change (personal fav of mine). Catchy tune that got you in the mood for a night out, a party or... whatever. No One Like You is a another good one that has an energetic chorus. Great reaction though!

My prom we got the dj to play "me so horny", and "fuck shop" from 2 live crew. The old chaperones couldn't understand the lyrics but the kids loved it lol

I wish I did, I totally like, left it at home with my Red and Black Leather Jacket and the one glove with the fingers cut off. I actually invented it back in my DeLorean after I was trying to get away from a buncha terrorists that shot my buddy, I called him The Doc. Gag me with a spoon...sike! I saw them a couple of years ago and ya they are not youngsters anymore but god damn they still rocked the joint and sounded fantastic. And ya this song is about S-E-X baby like about 65.7% of all 80's hair metal was :D and we loved it.

This was the very first album (on vinyl no less) that I ever bought. The ‘80’s were awesome.
What we all love about the Scorpions is that they can play so many different styles and not look pretending but they become the song itself

The Scorpions are one of the classic bands that you can find a TON of live, and music videos on TH-cam. Some bands from back in the day didn't seem to make much of an effort to being captured live; not so with the Scorpions. 👍

Classic, the look on your face. You've probably heard/seen enough hair bands... they're fun to hear once every 10 years or so.
The Scorpions are always worth a listen, no matter which era you are listening to. This was a huge hit for them and an MTV staple for years. My personal favorite of their is the song and album, Lovedrive from 1979, which features founding member and guitarist extraordinaire Michael Schenker guesting on 3 tunes, including the title track. Also on it are killer tracks Coast to Coast, Holiday and Loving You Sunday Morning. All 8 tracks are fantastic. They have many great albums to listen to, as with Uli Jon Roth on scorching lead guitar in the 70s then Mattias Jabs joined after Uli left for a solo career and they produced a string of hit albums and videos like you just watched. Some of those videos have had a 2nd life on you tube, garnering 100s of millions of view. Do Lovedrive sometime, you won't regret it! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎶

Growing up in the Florida Keys we of course experienced hurricanes on a regular basis, and the local radio station would play this song at every hurricane occurrence

As a German it is always some kind of funny that The Scorpions are, although well known in Germany, they are not that popular that you would say they are top notch AAA in the home country. They are really famous in Russia and South America. The band exsists for over 50 years now and they are one of the best-selling bands in the history of music, according to various sources, the band's sales are about 100 million worldwide which is quite impressive.
Well I am from Bangladesh. I first heard Scorpions in 2005 and I have been hooked ever since. All my friends are so into them and It will be safe to say that Scorpions is pretty much in the GOD tier here.
Scorpions are so big in the US that many people in the US believed that they were an American band until they were told they are not. No joke.
Scorpions are known for their 80's radio hits but honestly their best stuff was from the 70's. Albums Fly to the Rainbow, Taken By Force, and In Trance are among my all time favorites.
"Fly to the rainbow" is also for me the best. My brother had that one when he was young, and maybe 20 years later i bought it as CD just like Rainbows "Rising".

There was a divide in the Scorpions' music that came about around 1978 when Uli Roth left the band and Michael Schenker returned. The lyrics got a little raunchier and more "rock and roll" and the music ran a little more mainstream. However, all eras of Scorpions have great music both upbeat and soulful a few suggestions are,
Uli Roth era: Catch Your Train, Tokyo Tapes version of We'll burn the sky (possibly the saddest love song ever written AND it is about Jimi Hendrix), Backstage Queen, In your park, The riot of your time, They need a million, Longing for fire, a bunch more.
Michael Schenker second era: Lovedrive, Another piece of meat. Michael Schenker in UFO and Michael Schenker Group is a WHOLE 'nother story.
Matthias Jabs era: Someone to Touch, Still loving you, The Zoo, Babe I'm Leaving you, When the smoke is going down, also a bunch more.

For the longest time I thought he was singing "we're short on the juice" when he was really singing "with someone I choose".
The best from Germany, in my opinion, and a great song, from a great album. I've seen them live many times and they are fantastic live in concert. They've been around for a very long time and only get better with age.

There are so many energetic - fun songs by them. Above all I would recommend, Blackout, Dynamite, Another Piece of Meat, and some hidden gems from Uli Jon Roth era, like The Riot of Your Time and Robot man. Then there is also a very singular, sensual, energetic, psychotic, hidden masterpiece I would love to see you react to, called Animal Magnetism.
