    The line between technology and magic gets thinner every day. Thanks Sam.

    Hey Sam, you need to have a chat with Facebook. The notification goes to your page not to the particular post like it is supposed to. Then, the post doesn’t even show up on your page until hours later. I had to leave Facebook and come to TH-cam to find your video. Facebook may be causing you to lose traffic, and we don’t want that.

    I have been using Snow 4.3 inch for a long time and like it a lot, I take it with me everywhere. It's great for reading but not fantastic for looking at photos, colour recreation isn't brilliant and it struggles with contrasting colours. Personally I am a big fan of smaller magnifiers for reading books without stands, just by holding them in my hand. I find that stands are only comfortable with flat sheets of paper, not with books.

    I really like the snow 12! I like how it comes with an external stand that you can put it on to use it on your desktop, would find that especially helpful when signing documents. How does that compare with others on the market? I like this unit because it is truly portable, unlike a lot of CCTV systems that I have had in the past that are just too heavy and too bulky to carry around.

      Regarding price, it’s pretty comparable to others on the market with similar features. I definitely like the hardware. Like I said in the video, it’s thin and light which is nice for portability. You would just need to decide if it has all the features you want in a digital magnifier. If you contact Adam Palmer atPalmer vision, he would be more than happy to help answer questions etc.

    That voice reminds mo of the one from the tram at the beginning of Half Life. Normally I can't stand most of the voice to text, but this one I might be able to tolerate. Great video as always Sam.

    Can you use the snow seven video magnifier as a cc TV like you can with the snow 12?

    Hi! Thanks a mil for the review. I'm wondering if the small ones have better magnification than my phone or not. Do you know what's the max magnification you can get?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I’m sorry I don’t know what the max magnification is and I’ve already sent them back so can’t check. You could definitely give Adam Palmer at Palmer vision a call and he could answer questions for you. He would be happy to. I get this question all the time and what I usually tell people is that sell phones are great because they can do a ton of things. The problem is though that because they can do so many different things, they aren’t designed to do any one particular thing really well. So anytime you have a device that was specifically built for one task, it’s going to do that one task better than something that can do it and 100 other things. Not trying to sell you on anything but just wanting to give you food for thought! :-)

    i could really use a bigger magnifier again. Been relying on my phone for too much. Wirb rgat stand it looks a lot better for handeriting yhan my old (and long dead) 7-inch magnifier.
    For distance viewing, I'd rather have something hands free like those new smart glasses different companies are doing. Or heck, just a phone in a head mount of some sort might get me by.

    Sam, if you needed to choose between the snow12 and the optoelectronics 10 which do you think would be more useful and which is more solid?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a tough choice. I like the build and shape of the Snow 12 but I liked the portability of the compact tin. It’s nice that it has the arm built in which can turn it into a desktop cc TV. The snow has the stand but it’s a separate peace that you have to carry around with you. I guess if you can leave the stand at home and don’t need it to be portable, the snow 12 would be my choice. However, if you’re going to need the CCTV option while traveling, the compacting would be better.

    • @lindarosenkoetter4981
      @lindarosenkoetter4981 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. I decided on the Compact 10 because it seemed more portable and also because I have had a positive history with Optelec. Thank you for your input.

    Does the snow 12 have a carrying case and if so what is it like?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The one that was sent to me was a demo unit and did come in a case. I can’t say for sure it was the case that it supposed to come with but a brand new unit will have a case as well. If I remember correctly, it was a standard case that did the job.

    Hey Sam, what do we do with our low vision device if it’s broken?

    • @theblindlife
      @theblindlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you should definitely check with the company first to see if either it’s still under warranty or they have some kind of repair program. If it’s something like a digital magnifier then you may be able to have it repaired at a TV repair shop. That is if you can still find one of those! LOL

    It's a little annoying that the price difference between the 12in with the stand and without is $300 (on the manufacturer's website).... really, $300 for a stand?

      @@theblindlife I tried that but can't remember things when read to me and Akexa helps me get through books fast but till I can get somethig better I have large print on my Kindle. I was wondering if you had something for real books. Back in Highschoo I had a CCTV but don't know where to got on for personal use

      Hi Scott, I have the same issue with not being able to remember audiobooks well. I find that I am distracted easily and miss out a lot. Personally I have been using Zoomax Snow 4.3 inch for a few years and I use it to read physical books just by holding it in my hand as you would do with a traditional glass magnifier. The only issue is I have to stretch my arms every now and again, otherwise I get cramps:). Perhaps a larger one would work well for you. I am considering getting either Snow 12 or, more likely, Compact 6 HD because I want something small, but with additional distance viewing and text-to-speach just in case.
