Great video and as always easy to understand. A few years ago I bought a Spotnail composite nailer for attaching moldings on my furniture, able to sand them then paint with no worries of damaging my tools while finishing the piece. Have used it attaching pieces to the CNC also. Keep these videos rolling.
If you think of wire gauge as the number of wires it takes in a bundle to fill a tube, then the higher number = smaller wire concept makes more sense. Same concept for shotgun gauges.
Great little lesson on nailers. Well done, Wes. I use a 23 gauge pin nailer extensively for the bird and squirrel feeders that I make and sell. I'm gluing everything so the pins are just for keeping things in place until I can get the clamps on. It works out great and leaves little evidence behind. And if one blows out, a pair of needle nose pliers will get it out. Or I just use a Dremel with a cut-off wheel. I love my pin nailer!
Wes, your videos are great. I've watched you use nail gun pin nailer and crown stapler many times. One thing, keep your thumb and fingers away from the immediate firing area. In my experience a brad or nail can instantly deviate around hidden knot or density variations in the workpiece and shoot right out the side. It happens and guess where the brad injects?
Thanks Wes. This was just what I asked for. The terminology on the crown staplers is a little confusing as they call them narrow, medium and wide. The narrow crown are self explanatory. The medium seem to be in the 7/16" to 1/2" crown width neighborhood and the "wide" are 1" and beyond. I settled on the 1/2" crown gun from Metabo. I think this company used to be Hitachi, but now sport the Metabo name. My framing nailer is Hitachi but I have a coil nailer, finish nailer, narrow crown stapler and now the "medium crown 1/2 inch stapler from Metabo. I really like their guns which are a bit more $ than the P.C. brand but are very high quality. I also have the Porter cable guns I got in a set a few years ago with a pancake compressor and carry bag. They are pretty good. My Porter Cable finish nailer died recently on a project so I pitched it and replaced it with Metabo. My very first gun was an expensive finish nailer from Paslode. It was OK but it didn't last any longer than the less expensive guns. Thanks for the video! These guns can be rebuilt. I tried to rebuild my coil nailer as it was having double taps and other failures. It's not much better after the rebuild. Frankly, I'm with you. If one of these fails, pitch it and get a new one. Also 5-7 drops of air tool oil down the air fitting before each day's use keeps them running.

As far as I am aware, all wide crown staples have this glue coating. Grab on to the exposed end of the nail with a pair of wire cutters or needle nose pryers; bend it back and forth until it breaks. It should break at or below the surface of the wood. Hope this helps, thanks Wes

I use the 16ga staples in cabinet construction also. I call it a medium crown, I have always heard the wide crown term used for 1 1/4 staples. Not saying your wrong... potato patata...I guess
Thy West as you, fix any porter it might cost you more rhan a new one. I've learn to put a drop of oil before works. So, far works the gun works much softer.

I think that the Blue Staple gun is a BEA 14/50-763 which has been replaced now by the BEA 14/50-785C.
