i just watched it and the theater was full, guys were screaming like goku, laughing at frieza and clapping all at the end.

Toei's hatred for TFS is kinda insane. Hell the fact that they were Salty enough to kick them out of the DBZ Kia Dub for a cameo is enough to tell you they hold a grudge.
The comparisons to the Hulk are a lot more apt than they'd seem.
-Both Broly and Banner had abusive fathers who essentially made them what they are
-Both are quiet and emotionally reserved until they get angry
-both transform into a green-themed muscular rage form that gets stronger the angrier it gets, not to mention wearing purple pants
-both have a female companion, though since Cheelai stays out of the action the whole "calm him down by existing" thing is yet to be seen
I have ALWAYS thought Broly was like a Dragonball version of the Hulk! That's why I think he genuinely works as a character and isn't just "big dumb violence" for the sake of it.
That guy's "Whaaaat?" reaction reminds me of the time I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier with my friends in theater. It was the scene where Cap and Winter Soldier were fighting for the first time. Cap rips his mask off and the camera slowly plans to Winter Soldier's face. Steve says: "Bucky?"
In an almost completely silent theater room, all you hear is: "Oh my God! That's his friend!" The rest of the audience seemed to applaud with laughter.
heh, I remember seeing that in a cinema draft house and saying 'mein gott, he's gorgeous!' as a joke - got some laughs out of that.
I am mad about the trailer now cause that moment is gone for me. being a Gogeta fan, them mention "hey lets do the fusion dance" I would have lost my mind. About to see this movie soon I cant wait!

I still can't get over how frieza's wish is a direct callback to og dragon ball. Hell, I'm surprised Toriyama even remembers Og dragon ball.

dvader518 it was a bit of a missed opportunity to make Cooler canon in this movie. They easily could have thrown him in the first part of the movie.

I went Thursday night. Nearly every screening was sold out. Kids were everywhere, there were long time DB fans bringing their grandparents, and some power outages brought out the full force of the audience calling out Shenron.
To think I'd ever see that at a Dragonball movie, let alone one released in 2019, was incredible.

I can't wait till this gets adapted into a 14-episode arc.
All joking aside, this is something I'd like to see. Considering how much they had to cut down, I'd be great if they expanded it when Super inevitably comes back.

+Inspiration Date Honestly I wouldn't be that upset if they did that as long as the included the stuff that was cut out. It would be the one time where I wouldn't be mad if they remade a movie into an arc.
With everything we loved about the antagonist gone, the story dragging its heels with unnecessary filler and nothing involving the pacing or plot of the original is improved or expanded on.
Not just that some people didn't get to see the movie coz it's not in their theaters so even a normal re telling is what they need to even see brolys new character

This Broly made me wanna play a Barbarian in D&D. So cathartic
Hey! So I was that guy shouting "WHAT?"
I mean... I'm from germany so I wasn't physically there, but I try to avoid every spoiler for everything that i am interested in seeing... (and yes, i know that bruce willis was a ghost all along :D), so it actually came to me as a surprise... although vegeta acting as if he had never heard of fusion is a bit weird... because potara is also adressed as "fusing" but otherwise I loved it.
The overall film was ... good enough for my taste. Story was bad as usual since the ending of Z and they completely rewrote history... but whatever.
The most important thing is that I felt like a kid again watching. My heart was pounding like mad and that is why I watch DBZ+ (dragonball and dragonball z actually had a story that I was invested in)
So I would recommend it :)
Happy Kirran is one of my favorite things in the world. Whenever Kirran gets excited, he instantly puts a smile on my face.

At the beginning, they sent Kakarot away, next shot Freezer: I'm going to destroy the planet now, BYE. Bardock already with damage after battle and stuff. I know what happened, but as a film, it should have featured that last stand of Bardock.
Also, about that CGI place they wnet into while fighting... Remember in the battle of gods, when they were concerned about universe being destroyed? Maybe they broke through the universe, went into some space between universes, shattered bounds of universe of a moment, considering the power they both had, would not be surprised.
Also, can we talk about how powerful Freezer is? He held on against Broly for an hour. Holy shit.
Just thought of something... For next big baddie.... Imagine Cooler coming back to see how the Cold Empire is doing. Where he was you might ask? He was travelling the universe, training. He gets disappointed of how Freezer managed to fuck the empire up, pimp-slaps Freezer and asks what is holding his little brother from ruling the universe, well, couple of monkeys, a god and an angel he answers, Cooler is not impressed decides to check them out.
"Her ass got more screentime than Bardock."

Just saw it in the theater, which is a miracle itself, and it was awesome.
Dragon ball probably hasn't been on tv for 15 years at least here in the Netherlands, but it knocked Bohemian Rhapsody off the number 1 spot where it had been for 3 months. That's crazy!

I had a really weird moment in my theater for this movie, It was a friend of mines birthday and he's also a huge fan, so we look for tickets online and the only showings were 2, 4, 7, and 10, so we decide to go to the 7 showing, his dad comes and gets us, but the car breaks down before we can get to the theater, so I call my dad to get us, and when we get to the theater, It's everywhere, the movie is going 7:00, 7:15, 7:30, etc. all day, so we get the 7:30 and the theater was almost empty because it was everywhere, and I loved the movie. They fixed my baby boy, and tHEY MADE GOGETA CANON (excluding GT)
I tried seeing it opening night, and after a half an hour drive, and I got to the theater 45 minutes early. *They were already sold out.*
Sentinel Hirsc my 7pm showing was sold out by 3pm the day before. I had to buy Tix for the 10pm showing.

I really appreciate the humor in this movie. It was all over the place, but the movie never had to go out of its way for it.
Like, Battle of Gods really felt like it was making scenarios specifically for humor.

Yeah, it was spoiled for me as well. Really annoying in a "no spoilers" video. I didn't know about him because I purposely didn't watch all the marketing, as I don't want trailers or anything else to spoil the movie, which happens all the time.
Drove an hour to see this with a friend. shit was fucking awesome, my friend was one of those people who didn’t know about gogeta.

My brother had the same reaction of "What?!" when they brought up the Fusion Dance, which is hilarious because I distinctly remember talking to him about how it was very likely Gogeta would be in the movie (never straight up told him it was confirmed, though).
I think a lot of what I tell him goes in one ear and out the other because he literally thought the movie would be some sort of remastering of the original Broly movie, and this was *after* seeing the first three trailers for the movie.
Going to see it Wednesday over in the UK can't wait to see this!!
I'm, saying this here because the spoiler review was taken down (this doesn't contain spoilers) and kaiser brings it up only in the spoiler one (again my comment doesn't contain spoilers). There were female saiyan warriors. On rewatching the film you can see a couple with king vegeta's army/guard. Then the guys with the russian accents, they weren't saiyans. They didn't have tails and one of them had blue hair. So they probably were humanoid aliens that worked for the saiyans.

I went to see it opening night at the first screening in my town and it was pretty packed. But I loved it. It was beautifully animated and the transformations were even more beautiful

It played in the IMAX in Vancouver here in Richmond. Was my first IMAX experience and was absolutely the best movie I have ever seen at least in theaters.
The character CGI animation was so good that I didn't even notice it until I saw the credits.
