I loved Casco Viejo, I was just there 2 weeks ago! Tantalo was amazing … I had so much fun at that restaurant… great food! Great service! And a great rooftop bar and dancing spot. 👍 Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
Enjoyed! I will most definitely visit at least one of these places ( and the one with the salsa dancing!) when I arrive this coming spring! Thanks for your great video.
Thanks for highlighting some new spots in CV. I went to La Zotea for happy hr last yr and it was good, didn't eat but great spot to enjoy cold beer with nice views. Salud!
Another great video! Casa Viejo is the place for history, great food and people watching for sure. The architecture reminds me of the the French Quarter in New Orleans. Keep the videos coming,Big Will!!
BigWill looks like you are loosing weight ,cool.I am going back to MD and will be placing my house in Bethesda for sale in October, see you in Panama ,going to Coronado first
Hi BigWill - my favorite spot is Restaurante Santa Rita (Casco Viejo) - Best Spanish cuisine in Panama City with Caribbean overtones. Definitely worth the visit... (Go in an Uber as parking is difficult)
@@alkubbo1291 we did try months ago. Had reservations. They couldn't seat us though. Left frustrated wondering what's the point of having a reservation if you just gonna give our table up anyway? 🤷🏿♂️
@@GoExplorePanamá So sorry to hear that, BigWill... Unfortunately, that happens quite frequently in Panama City nightlife and restaurants and nobody talks about it. If you are perceived as a 'regular', you get the red carpet treatment. First time we went to Santa Rita (Monday - no reservations), we asked to sit by the bar because we wanted to try out their Prosecco and Tataki de Atun. I tipped our bartender ($10) to see if he 'could find us' a table because they were going to have live music...About 10 minutes later, we were sitting on the right side by the wine cellars. We kept coming back and now we are basically recognized by the staff and 'no problema'. By now, we know when and which restaurants are busy on certain nights and we try to avoid those bottlenecks at all cost. Wifey does not cook unless we decide to spend a night at home and binge on Netflix - normally I end up cooking...
Admittedly this is a BIG challenge worthy of Big Will. And you did OK. Everyone’s opinion is just that, but I can take some issue. You left off the three best restaurants in Casco according to just about every food critic who has ever been here…Fonda Lo Que Hay, named one of the 50 best restaurants in Latin America and Santa Rita and Aya La Vida, whose chef is considered maybe THE best in LATAM. You hit some of the more tourist centric places like Casablanca and Casa Casco, but I also thought the focus on the rooftops was misguided since these are the WORST places to go if you actually want to have some dinner conversation and don’t want your plates and silverware jumping off the table all night to the incessant and deafening booming of some truly awful house music. Like I said, it is all a matter of opinion, but the best pizza is Calicanto, the best Italian is at Rosa Negra on Ave. A and Calle 4, the best bar is a tossup between HaRy at La Compañia and Element on Calle 3 and, sorry, Casablance is a tourist trap, and is the only one I felt shouldn’t be on the list (beside the rooftop nightmares). However, Casablanca’s taqueria Nextdoor is the place to go…better food, better prices and still with the ambience of Plaza Bolivar. This might have been an impossible task and it really all does come down to a matter of personal preference and is subjective. But my general advice would be avoid the rooftops, avoid the tourist traps like Casablanca, avoid the restaurants along Ave. A near Plaza Herrera with the street hawkers, and seek out the true locals for coffee, cocktails and good food. Ask any Casqueno…we will point you in the right direction.
LOL. Yes to opinions. So...We had tried to visit Santa Rita and we were never seated even with reservations...TWICE. La Campania didn't exist when I shot this video. 🤷🏾 I rate your comment as OK.
