    These women are so likeable and relatable! Best of luck to them in their rugby futures! Will definitely be cheering for Kildunne in sevens.

    Ellie Kildunne & Jess Breach along with Abby Dow has to be the best back three that's ever represented the Red Roses. They scored 18 tries between them in the 2024 Six Nations and their combined record of 111 tries in 123 appearances speaks for itself.

    • @whattiler5102
      @whattiler5102 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 111 tries in 123 appearnces was in a rugby culture that mainly encompassed 'kick for a lineout and then the forwards will score off a rolling maul'. The backs had the ability to score a lot more tries, in that period, if they had been given the opportunity to open things up. The current preference for Holly Aitchison at 10, has had a big impact in that. An England back three picked from Ellie, Jess, Abby, and Claudia has the pace and skill to spread alarm in any side in the World.

    Watched all the matches with my granddaughter and told her it's a game for all and all sizes and its played for the enjoyment
    Bless her she is a 5ft - 9 year old stick insect with bright red hair and we always tell her that she should embrace who she is.
    Her smile while watching was amazing. Rugby may not be her sport going forward but its giving her ideas😊
    So thank you for the amazing games and good luck with the 7s .

    Wonderful conversation. I have a background in psychology and work as a psychotherapist -- conversations like this that touch on the psychological trials of athletes are gold dust. Thank you for being open about this. It is so valuable for others. And as for those who make negative comments -- they are telling you more about themselves than they are about the things they are commenting on.

    I am an 84 year-old grandfather. My granddaughter plays professional soccer in the WSL. Like Elle and Jess, she is super fit and works very hard at her job. I see a certain charm in all 3 girls that just brings joy to my heart. I am sure Elle's and Jess' dads are extremely proud of their children.

      Youcan also add Abby Dow and Claudia Macdonald to that. A back three chosen from those four are terrific.

    Two amazing players and both brilliant ambassadors for the women's game. Can't wait to see them both in action at WXV in Canada later this year.

    I’m not a huge fan of women’s field sports, in general - but I LOVE watching the Roses. Proper skills, proper physicality, and great Rugby brains.
    You make us very proud, girls.
    Thank you. ✊🏼

      Definitely not by me.
      I think the women are playing the complete game from 1-15.
      They all throw the ball around with good direction and purpose. They know where their team mates are.
      The game they play is dynamic and exciting.
      There is no apparent front row stupidity when getting set for a scrum.
      Everyone just sets out to play a great game for their team and to the best of their ability.
      Thank you ladies. England has something really good to be proud of.

    As a NZer, I think of the English back three as exciting, entertaining and superb. IMHO, the best in any team since Lomu/Cullen/Wilson of the ABs.
    In my wildest dreams "too small" or "not strong" never entered my mind. I don't know why anyone would think that, simply watching you play shows how you all break so many tackles and fend off so many tacklers.
    You've got a point regarding commentators. Too many wander off into an anecdote and stick with it even when the entire game just broke open. And don't get me started on those (so often male) commentators who struggle to identify players, even when the shirt numbers are clearly visible. I wish Rikki Swannell could train everyone to be as good as she is.

    • @lost_boy
      @lost_boy 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Absolutely agree with all your points and for me, Rikki Swannell is by far the best commentator in the game. Every time I watch a game she's commentating on, Men's or Women's, I come away feeling as though I've learnt so much more about this wonderful game.

    I like this pair a lot primarily because of their talent on the pitch but they speak so well on the podcast too and not going to lie they are attractive but first and foremost its the highlight reels they make watching womens rugby so exiting i like woens cricket and rugby but not so much football or tennis it seems diluted but the red roses are just a proper rugby team

    Ellie channeling her inner Werner Kok 🔥🇿🇦. OG Bok Sevens team had speed, steps and still physical. Players like Cheslin Kolbe and Faf the Giant slayer de Klerk prove rugby is for everyone.

    I am only watching this following the WXV1 2024 but I have be😢watching the women’s rugby for a couple of years now. I really love watching Ellie, she is a superstar, she has so much x-factor and every time she gets the ball she instills so much doubt into the opposition. And, I love the smile, she obviously really loves what she does. I have also really loved following Jess, she also definitely has x-factor but what I really appreciate about your rugby Jess is that you are such a team player. When you realize that perhaps a teammate is in a better position than you to finish off the move then you shift the ball. Often Jess doesn’t receive the plaudits she deserves for her try assists as much as the tries she scores. Abbie Dow is amazing but sometimes she will die with the ball when she perhaps could have shifted the ball on. But all of you are amazing be very proud girls because we are.

    1:36 They offer such great insight that the men wouldn’t even speak about with regards to the physicality of the game in terms of carrying of the ball and tackling.
    Rugby takes a ton courage and all players have to mentally prepare for that

    Love the interaction, but have to say Ellie’s top just reminds me of the one “Frank Spencer” used to wear 😊😊
    Looking forward to watching them in the Olympics and again live at the autumn internationals.
    As for shape and size, the one thing I love about the Red Roses is the different hair-styles, because watching them live it makes it a lot easier to identify who’s who.

    ‘Tackling is so mental…if you’re not in the tackle in your brain, you’re not in it…’
    Agreed.
    When I played Rugby I was a particularly hard tackler, but it never once occurred to me I might get hurt, or it just might hurt generally, so I just went in fully committed - and it never did hurt.
    It helps to have the right tackling technique, of course, but those dancing about with thoughts of ‘ Shall I or shan’t I’ and similar were pretty rubbish tacklers, and invariably DID get hurt if they actually made a tackle.

    I enjoy the show and enjoy the conversation of these two. I have to disagree when they spoke about being commentated on ‘how they look’ as it relates to size/strength/etc. One thing thats sets people apart in athletics is physical gifts. How often do we hear about Antoine duPont’s strength in comparison to his size? How many times do commentators talk about the power of any Tuilagi’s lower body? Jonah Lomu’s power and speed was what made him the attraction he was. The assumption that all high level athletes possess the same physical gifts so do not speak about them, seems a bit naive. Just my opinion. Thanks.

  • @Poweroftouch
    @Poweroftouch 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Agreed and disagree on physique, if a player in the Men's team has gained to Much weight we talk about it and he loses the weight ,if s player needs to bulk we talk about it ? Why is it any different.there is a world class 10 international women's rugby not saying no names ,wat she does it great but she much bigger than typical 10 ,why is it a bad thing to think. If she lost bit weight it would improve her even more as a player ,yes rugby is all shapes and sizes that's the beauty of it ,but we all adjust to become the best version we can of ourselves

    A couple of very fine players. Very very few weaknesses - if any the weaknesses are defensive ones. Breach needs to work on basic tackling technique positioning in a match scenario, she looks very uncertain and lacking in confidence to even find a position to tackle from.
