  • This review highlights Black Dragon Canyon, a popular San Rafael Swell trail located just to the west of Green River Utah, on the east rim of the San Rafael Swell.
When traversed in 2019, the trail would have rated an easy 4 due to a few steps requiring careful tire placement and higher ground clearance.
The trail features narrow canyons, sandy washes, Native American artwork and some moderate technical climbs.

Fair enough. I've lived in Utah all my life, so you're lucky I don't say melk, crick, and mounain. The Swell is just gonna have to be wrong, because I doubt I'm able to change anytime soon as I've been visiting and exploring since the early 90s. It is what it is and I apologize. :D.

Amazing setting! Is the trail easy all the way to the pictographs? That is, can you drive to them with a regular SUV, and then drive back out the way you came, and avoid the rougher section of the trail?

Yes, that is possible. The pictographs are only 2 miles from the road.

So one could theoretically park their sedan at the gate and hike through the canyon to the pictographs and back out. It's not a steep grade and would be a nice hike. Just make sure you are equipped for desert hiking...the area is unforgiving to the unprepared.

No. I think he got it from rocky road. They are cheap and work awesome, it fit my l322 range rover perfectly.
