    Fantastic, thanks for sharing this experience. I’d love to visit the museum sometime, but in the meantime, this helps!

    Oooh I don't think I've seen one with lavender before! It's too bad so many look at these and just shrug, thinking anybody could do it. First of all you have to have to have the cottage to even make the claim that you'd like to paint, or that you're a painter, let alone an abstract painter. Then, technically, these color fields are so alive and dimensional. I prefer when they're displayed in more subdued, focused lighting so they just sorta float before you, like a vision.

    Vague representations of throw rugs or profane limericks that have been censored. Titled, Dirty joke 1, The horse and the handmaiden, Those vile aristocrats, Ketchup on buttered toast, From Nantucket 3. I don't see a no parking sign!, Purple dawn, Christmas in Winnipeg, Air vent..

    Too bad they don't provide seats in front of the paintings. The thing about Rothko is, you have to sit down, shut up and just see. Thanks for this.

      Anyone can make art. But will you be as known, understood, and abundant as him during his life and after his death? Doesn't seem so.

    Two jobs ago, the paint department mixed their own colors, and used pieces of scrap wood to test it ...kinda reminds me of that...

    Kindergarten art. I will never understand how something like this gets popular. There are so many great artists out there and no gallery will ever show their art.

      To me Mark Rothko does an amazing job at representing deep emotions with few shapes and colors. You should also know the time period when this was made.

    • @oscodains
      @oscodains ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All of these takes hours of planning and just as much skill.
      Nonetheless, Art is supposed to make you feel emotion.
      Like it or not, Rothko just succeeded with your hate.

      there is no skill needed no draw this. i studied practical arts and there were so many great talents and most of them now work in boring office jobs. it is all about big names. people fall for marketing, not the art itself. @@oscodains

    I'll take someone's "art" like this seriously only after they first show me they also can create something recognizable and lifelike. Otherwise I consider this sort of thing a con job.

    • @D0nm3g4

    • @DNTMEE

      @@D0nm3g4
      Yes. And I know, "art," like beauty, dust, and contact lenses is in the eye of the beholder. However, I also know crap is still crap even if someone calls it art. It's how we end up with 1.8 million Euro art that literally looks like piles of crap such as the newly unveiled "Luxury Fountain" in Vienna Austria.

      Exaggerate much? I'm critical of a work some people call "art" and I'm having a "fit?" And I'm not "you people." I'm an individual and have every right to call it as I see it. I do not belong to some amorphous group simply because I disagree with your world view.
