We had so much fun with many splitscreen games with my friends on ps2 and 3 but i don't exactly miss it in most of the games nowadays
I like how Elrond is still narrating at the end of the Evil campaign even after you kill him in the game. He must be phoning in from Valinor.
Valinor is basically the Respawn point 😂
The _Mouth_ of Sauron was right there, why didn't he narrate?
He states he was one of the "unfortunate few" to survive the battle.
I guess he did end up surviving that fall into the river

It literally happens in shadow of war, though quite a bit too much. I know balrogs are supposed to be unkillable but the balrogs fight there went on for way too long

I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when he knocked Frodo into MT Doom while he was still wearing the ring.
I've always done that when I played this game and it would have been awesome and hilarious if the level ended in failure if you did that, missed opportunity
Realistically, that should be a defeat, but the fact that it isn't is pretty hilarious.

It's just like the actual ending with Gollum and Frodo fighting for the ring before tumbling off the cliff. Should have ended the same way, but it didn't because... Uh game xD
Another fun fact about this game is that Eagles can insta-kill Sauron on the bridge.

I've never forgotten that. The thing is that they spawn just as Sauron becomes playable, so it'll almost certainly happen to a player their first time playing

@@Tmanowns Hell all of the classes are annoying about it, but warriors especially. Particularly when the AI gangs up on you.
@@Tmanowns The correct way to balance a game: Just make every class OP!
Warrior: 100 to 0 combos that make Tekken and Street Fighter blush
Assassin: Instakill basically anybody, and still has some solid melee combos
Archer: Semi-auto skull popping action from 100yrds away, and can just blow up and/or poison anyone foolish enough to get close
Mage: Deletes entire formations w/ AOE everything, hard counters archers, and is still no slouch in melee esp. w/ the self heals
God this game was great
On legendary if a warrior or scout starts a combo on you, kiss your health bar and your life goodbye.
Really like playing as the Nazgul and Witch-King for their combos, able to scream at them after a combo is fun!
I always found Witch-king a bit more useful than regular Nazgul; the ground pound freezes some enemies and then its an AoE blast compared to the random leaps.

Nice game, hated when the soft lock at the end level happened, we already were beating the game at the hardest difficulty, and then the soft lock happened

It’s way more bloody than dragon age and it is not a open world, there is no romance scenes and it’s way harder

This game, and that expansion pack to Force Unleashed, feel a lot like God of War where you're killing all the Gods. Instead of killing all the God guys, you're killing the good guys.
I remember this campaign. I'd always cheese the first mission by using my axe throw to just punt Frodo off the edge into the lava.
Being the Balrog was the coolest thing to me as a kid, but I remembered Sauron being better. Weird :P
That, until a random eagle picked Sauron up and yeeted him down the sky (true story)
@@stefanocrosazzo3262 Those Eagles could've tossed the one ring into Mt. Doom centuries ago. They're the dominant species and they know it.
@@solaire2271 problem with that is MORDOR is fortified to fucken hell & back, sauron has flocks of fell beasts (drakes & other nasty shit) not to mention the absolute fuckton of orcs in his lands, all of which carry arrows that are poisoned.
sauron would immediately notice them, & at that point all it would take is one arrow & the dark lord would be reinvigorated with his reclaimed ring.
Maybe cause we don’t see this fella use either of their abilities in this montage.
@@solaire2271 not really, the ring is designed to tempt the one who has it and it's at its most powerful when near mount doom, so the eagle will probably never destroy it and take it for itself, that's why the only way was for Gollum to take it with himself and destroy it unwilling
Isn't it ironic that all the best LOTR games were released by EA and since WB took the license, we've got 1 great games in like 13 years
Well shadow of war and shadow of mordor are both better than these ones imo.
EA also killed this game like a year after its release. It was a sad day
@@bloodangel19 There arent many games like Conquest whereas Shadow of Mordor at least largely follows the soy sandbox of endless Ubisoft titles
@@danb4900 you know ubisoft didin't even patern that kind of open world? Also they didn't have many games like that when SOM came out, in what, 2013 i think. Their most famous franchise, Assassin's creed, still followed the old style before switching to the rpg style in 2018, 1 year after SOW came out. Their only big time rpg, open world game, which was Far cry 3 which is still upheld as the best in the series. So what is your point again?
@@danb4900 SoM is way, way ahead of AC or other cookie cutter games. It's an actual great series. Better combat, gameplay, graphics, enemy variety, everything.
I think the orcs the Nazghul are killing are just random, unaligned orcs. But, it could be retconned that they're under Talion's control or something.
In the game there are voice lines that say that they are “traitors” but not because talión or something but because they knew or thought sauron was going to be defeated and then rebelled and went to kill nazgul because they were tired I guess, yeah don’t try to make sense of it but it’s kinda fun killing them with nazguls
@@elpsykoongro5379 :) that's a good enough explanation, and surprisingly quite lore friendly, for there are Orcs who rebel or those who simply held no loyalty to Mordor and were doing their own thing. As Tolkien wrote: "and there are treacheries and strife even among the Orcs." There are always also those who want to just do their own thing :).

After seeing the last video I found it on an old games archive and played through it, it was a good time. Though I found rather than the mage, it was the archer that was really OP. With those hitscan zoomed critical headshots, and the fire arrows, they could kill warriors in one shot.

The best way to kill Frodo is when you get to the end of the mission where you actually have to kill him, just throw your axe at him and he falls off and DIES.

Tbh, the funniest part is that the Balrog in the Shire if Sauron won is the only thing from this game that would’ve made sense.

Loved playing as the mage class in this game, especially on maps where a bunch of archers like to set up choke points since you basically just invalidate them entirely with your bubble shield.
Before Palpatine in Rise of Skywalker we had Mouth of Sauron in Rise of Sauron.

This is the craziest version of the Scouring ever.
I do have to say, one thing that would have made your entire playthrough much easier is that you can attack while getting up and doing so pretty much makes you invincible for that period of time
I actually really liked this game and played it a lot way back when. I kinda wish we could get a remaster or most preferably a completely new take on it, evil campaign and all :P
There's actually a fan-made remaster that's well into production if you're not yet aware of it! It's looking pretty good so far.

I used to play this game on the PS3 and I suck at it I kept going to the enemy spawn expecting something to happen . Somehow I finished the game

My explanation for 1:53 is that the Nazgul cut off the finger that Frodo had the ring on before pushing him into the lava.
No matter what happens, Frodo will always lose a finger

I kind of want to see a battlefront style game with Bloons Tower Defense characters. Monkeys campaign with the hero monkeys and bloons campaign with the moabs as heroes. Unfortunately the game wouldn't be very balanced because the monkey side gets Cyber Quincy on their team. Why is this unbalanced? Donctha' know? Nothing gets past his bow.

Using the Mouth’s bash was some of the most fun, hearing those meaty smacks hitting a throng of enemies was euphoric.

I didn't think that anything would be more epic than the Shadow Of Mordor/War games, but this is pretty awesome.

I remeber playing this game when I was back at school. The time limit for the level where you play as the Nazgul is way too short, especially if you play on higher difficulties. For anyone who wants to try this game out, on that level, any orc will do for the blood ritual. So, you can just run past the orcs at the start and then go back to kill them for a good start.
That assassin is the new Dark Lord after Sauron got killed fighting Hobbits.
In my playthrough, Sauron died because an eagle picked him up, and Saruman took his place.

I liked the good/evil campaign implementation in War of the Ring, the strategy game. It didn't present any alternate reality where Sauron won, but instead the evil campaign was set in the time before the events in the main LOTR books, showing how Sauron's forces did things like capturing Minas Ithil.

"We could... if we wanted all the other armies to laugh at us! Now get out there and hack them to pieces while exposing yourselves to enemy arrow fire even longer than we were already going to be!"
