now i have a question, if my backup is the solar dc battries i cant connect them direct to the switch. what can i do

Use inverter ( from DC to AC)...thanks for the comment.. Let me know if I have answered you well, and keep following

Yes indeed you're right.... Because it's from the inverter that we get our AC output in case of the solar. Unless if one is trying to power DC loads, but then they can't use the same change over switch (ie AC and DC outputs). That would be a recipe for a serious electrical hazard!
