It's hard, but not impossible. Plus, it would make sense that he couldn't write but could read, considering his past? I find it funny that despite Shinobu knowing that Tomioka isnt the best mentally, she still "teases" him which can impact his subconscious mental health and can lead him to doubt himself even without realizing it.
