Thank you very much for providing important information on the artists.
Can you provide information on the male singer appearing at the beginning of the video singing viriboni?
Thank you so much. I was about to ask who is singing Malkauns, she is so wonderful.
This takes me back my time as a young fellow wandering around India in the early '70s for a year or so. . This movie evokes for me the smell of smoke drifting in the red sunrise and railway stations passed at four in the morning....pan, bidi, cigarette, chai garam..
Such forgotten jewels!
Am so grateful they aren't lost anymore. Truly great treasures for all generations to come.
Thank you so very much 🙏

Too good. Thanks a lot. It reminds me of childhood days when such music was common and many people used to gather for night long concerts to listen to classical Indian music.
We need to save Indian youth. We're becoming culturally illiterate as we progress towards science and a life of comfort and being surrounded by technology and bollywood crap.

Great. Evolving..also music history..Tamil Pan or Isai or music ( Iyal, Isai and nadagam) is the recorded earliest music in India. Silapathigaram ( also 2000years back in Tholkappium, Natrinai, kurunthogai and others) authored by Ilango Adigal around 500CE (1500 years ago) gives a perfect description about Classical Music. Is it not amazing that somebody in the Tamizh land defined all these as early as the 5th century? In just one verse, he gives the names of the seven swaras as per Tamizh PaN.
Sa-Kural; Ri-Thuththam;Ga-KaikkiLai;Ma-Uzhai;Pa-ILi;Dha-ViLari;Ni-
Tharam. In another verse, he says PaNs(Ragams) are obtained by arranging the 12 Kovais(swaras) in a specified structure in the ascending and descending scale. Sa-Kural; Ri-Thuththam;Ga-KaikkiLai;Ma-Uzhai;Pa-ILi;Dha-ViLari;Ni-
Tharam.
Purantharadasa (1500 CE, 500yrs back) a devotee of Vishnu, contributed enormously to further perfect the Tamil Pan as carnatic music and all others iincluding Mumoorthys are followers of Tamil Pan transformed ( name changed) to Carnatic music and further added their kirthana.

look where women are in this. right at the top. India has always respected its women.
Women performing on stage is a post Colonial thing; Only women from devadasi community performed before an audience and even they faced discrimination on what they could perform; When "family women" started to perform, they faced opposition and eventually due to support from enlightened, it came to be; That is the real history, unfortunately.
Tara R I think there are far more worse countries for a women to live in - where violation of religious rules can lead to your death or to brutal punishments. Plus the things you listed.
@Tara R great ! Thanks for exposing truth....they Indian keep promoting their lies !
@@engr.h.mbasirijaz1249 Things changed after Islamic invasions. It was a behavioral thing more than a doctrinal thing.
@@Ravi-UT False, this has been existing before the colonial period. Bharata makes mention of both male and female performers. We also have depiction of women playing instruments on temples walls. Devadasi were just one part of those women, it was the tradition of the South. They were honored women who were temple singers and dancers. Its only during the colonial period that things turn savour, please know your history.
