    Love the habrosis. I can't get mine to breed but they stay small and they're just active and have the cool bigger Cory behaviors unline the other Pygmy species that display different behaviors

    I love basically all corydoras species, but Habrosus have got to be the cutest little buggers in the hobby (as far as fish go.)
    I have several in my main display tank and i adore them. Sometime back, they decided my panda Corys were their fearless leaders and now they follow the pandas everywhere. 🤣

      They seem to be more fearless than my Corydoras Trilinaetus. While the big ones hide when I show up, the habrosus stay close to the front and keep going on with their business.

    I love cory catfish. I have 5 different types now and I am saving up to get another tank. I have peppered (my favorite) , albino, bronze, pandas, and the new kind I got a few days ago and haven't been able to identify them. The pet store didn't know and Google doesn't either. They are a light caramel brown on top, white on the bottom, and they have a light black stripe on each side. I hope someone reads this and can identify my fish.

    • @SteenfottAquatics

      Some plants release a chemical to try and inhibit the growth of other plants. Jungle Val has been known to do that to duckweed. Look up allelopathy.

    Prior to my rainbow shark being blacklisted from the friendly tank he killed my oldest fish which was my fave and it was a albino Cory. He pretty much would only eat food that another fish started eating as he was blacklisted he is now with cichlids a better environment for him.

    What I like about my 12 habrosus is that they are not shy at all. Unless I really try to catch them, the aren't even impressed with my hand in the water. They are also very gentle to my shrimp, eating together, no hostility. Not sure if the habrosus eat fry but so far my neocaridina are breeding like crazy.

  • @fantasyfanvii4449
    @fantasyfanvii4449 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    About your 125: seems like you have mostly hair algae. I had it in my 5 gallon a while back and it went away after I started dosing liquid iron for my plants. I ended up losing the plants anyway so I quit dosing the iron, but then the algae came back. I tried dosing iron again and sure enough the algae dyed off again. No idea how that worked, but you might want to try it. It also might help you keep some hardier red plants like crypt wendtii red or ludwigia repens.

    I think Corys are my favorite fish. Of course, if you ask me tomorrow..... LOL. I have a tank of orange laser corys that I hope will breed. They are the only species in the 20 gallon long. I have 7 at the moment, I have been looking online for more. So far, no eggs that I have seen anyway.

    • @SteenfottAquatics

    • @kiri23234

      Did you try doing some large water changes with cool water as soon as it rains outside? This causes some corys to lay eggs because they think its rainy season.

    Adorable. Are they Pygmy corys? Are there several types of the Pygmy corys or just one? In videos I’ve watched the y seem to look different, some more of a line rather than a mix of spotty lines etc.

  • @kmaguire7161
    @kmaguire7161 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did the Corydoras hastatus you added earlier all die? I've found them to be disappointingly delicate. Especially considering how expensive they are. C. pygmaeus too but those are at least 1/3 the price.

    • @SteenfottAquatics
      @SteenfottAquatics  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      About half of them slowly died off over time. The pygmaeus have been pretty bullet proof

    • @Beachysoles
      @Beachysoles 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You may want to increase your group to 5 or 6 and see if that helps! Generally they're much more relaxed in larger groups.

    • @kiri23234
      @kiri23234 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The more corys, the more outgoing they will be. 5 or 6 is regarded as the minimum group size. Many people claim that a group of 10 or more is ideal.
      You could also:
      - increase the amount of hiding spots. If your fish can disappear immedeately whenever they want to, they feel way safer.
      - avoid fast and sudden movements near the tank
      - don't slam doors
      - add some leaf litter. My corys love to eat the pieces of decaied leafes (probably because of the microorganisms that eat the leaf) but they are too lazy to turn over the leaves so whenever I do maintenance, I stir up their leaves so thet they can eat the decaied leafes they could not reach. Now they come out of the woodwork when I do maintenance.

    If its natural then it stays in my tanks, be it algae, worms, seed shrimp etc. Cant be bothered with fish, too sensitive and I cant be bothered to care. I top off and that's about the extent of it. Tons of shrimp and snails everywhere and never any disease or die off so I leave them be
