    Amazing! Time to retire my old cap molds
    Update: I tried them. They really are the best molds you can make.
    it's super easy to clean up the dice and inclusions are easy to make.
    10/10 would recommend
    also... you and this video deserve so much more appreciation, thanks!

    Great tutorial! Definitely love the idea of this style of mold. I have been having problems with raised faces a lot and this seems to be the solution to my problem. Going to try this out when my new set of Dragon Skin 20 comes in!

    Just a thought, if you used a jig to hold your d20 mold at a slight angle during the resin cast, you could keep the 20 face straight upright with the inclusions.

    This mold system looks fantastic! i was thinking can't you modify it to exchange the cups for short pvc tubes? you can then measure the base to the diameter of the tube, mold all the clay in the open and later on slide the tube. Should make your life easier when working with the clay part.
    I'll definitely try this molds. Thanks for sharing!

      @@staceyboothmollema1563 I ended up just using clay, went through a few different mold types and figured that the flexibility of being able to make stuff a bit different for each mold was better than the cleanliness of a printed part

    I'm going to attempt to make a slab version of this by designing one long acrylic mold case with the indent and 4 internal keys, still using clay for the faces since it seems to have the least cleanup on the mold later compared to glue dots, etc. And modify the sprues a bit so they overlap the dice less like the Kingsfell system... I'll update back later!

    This is genius. This is the model I'm trying next.
    Let me be not shy and ask. Does swiping the faces of the die make a difference? How different it turns out if you don't?
    I'm having trouble with my molds and casts, but I'm not sure what is causing it yet, maybe it's that.

    • @karrotcreates8654
      @karrotcreates8654  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there! I'm so sorry I haven't seen this until now. By swiping the faces, do you mean wiping them off with the microfibre cloth? I do that to remove any fingerprints or bits of clay that might show up in the mould :) Basically just making sure it's as shiny as possible, so that the dice that come out are equally shiny! I don't think it changes anything in regards to cure, so I don't know if it will help with the issues you've been having, unfortunately.

    What kind of resin do you use?

  • @EvesterBee
    @EvesterBee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Such a lovely tutorial! Do you know if these would work (bubble free mainly) if I don’t use a pressure pot? I’m new to resin and can’t invest in one quite yet

    • @karrotcreates8654
      @karrotcreates8654  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They'll definitely work, but it depends on so many things (how your resin behaves, whether you slant the dice so there aren't flat surfaces for bubbles to be trapper under, etc.). I would definitely make small adjustments to the clay base to accommodate. I would slant the surface for the dice, so one corner is higher than the rest, and then cut the reservoir into that corner. That of course means you'll have to plan out your registration marks around it. Your sprue hole would have to be bigger, and you would still need to treat your resin carefully to avoid bubbles.

    • @EvesterBee
      @EvesterBee 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karrotcreates8654 thank you thats really helpful! Just to clarify- when you say to slant the dice, does that refer to the lid number? So to built up the clay on one side to create a slant there?

    • @karrotcreates8654
      @karrotcreates8654  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You basically just chop up old silicone (of the same type!) and fill larger empty spaces with it c: make sure it's not in contact with the surface of what you're making a mold of!

    Approximately how long do your molds last? Do they deteriorate quickly?

    • @karrotcreates8654
      @karrotcreates8654  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That will depend on the type of silicone that you use, but the d20 molds with only one face open do tend to deteriorate faster at the opening than the one with 2 faces!
