Such a haunting and heartbreaking song, especially once you realize that not only is it a true story, the first verse, it is written from a 12 year old child’s point of view. A 12 year old boy who has NO understanding of the confusion around him or that his friend is dead and gone. And then the second verse is the adult narrator reflecting on his 12 year old self’s feelings towards all this.

This song makes me so frustrated. It’s beautifully written and comes from a place of respect. It makes me feel frustrated mostly due to the fact there’s almost nothing I can do to help, and there’s nothing the families can do except put up posters and hope, only being able to imagine the worst. I remember watching the film adaptation of “The Lovely Bones” and the helplessness you feel throughout the movie and the ending, both made me so mad. The people responsible, almost never get caught and that infuriates me more than anything. I’m not religious, but stuff like this makes me wish there’s a god to help the victims, and a place for the horrible people to rot. Again, beautiful song, I’m just mad at the world

MAN... when that guitar kicks in during the chorus mimicking the voice (the falsetto singing is soooo good ❤️) just WOW I’m in love with this band and song. Heard this on the plane when I went to UK for the first time. This was one of the best albums they had on the tv thing. Fell in love with it and heard the entire album for the whole 7 hour journey. So nostalgic 💖

i am listening to the song for maybe the 4th time today, looking through the comments. i just listened to the sounds, not the words until now. the story ties in perfectly to what they are saying- and it makes it so much more heartbreaking that it is a true story. it caught my eye because it sounded beautiful, but even more so now that i know the true meaning and how personal of a song it is. not only do i love this song because you can hear the emotion in the words but it also sounds spectacular. i can relate to this song because i was just as young when i lost someone i loved very much. i am 7 years late, but this song is a complete masterpiece in my eyes
