What an amazing back and forth battle! Bivol only lost it in the championship rounds. Artur’s trainer knew what he was doing when he told Beterbiev he needed the KO after losing round 9. Came out and knocked Bivol post to post from the 10th and 11th, and he didn’t have enough gas left in the tank to reverse Beterbiev momentum in the 12th. Truly a great fight!

I think this fight was between a honeybadger and a lion. The honeybadger was strong and never gave up even though the lion was chewing on him. As the honeybadger got many jabs at the lion, the lion just kept pursuing him. I think many judges would see that Bivol was throwing to get Beterbiev off of him and did not look like he was in charged in the ring. It was a very competitive fight but Bivol needs to risk more to prove he's the best.

You're probably right, but I think Bivol had the right strategy for this fight (especially within the context of a trilogy which there probably will be). I don't think he was being cautious out of fear, more out of necessity determined in pre-planning. Because Beterbiev can throw KO punches with no windup and very low energy cost, it's better to err on the side of too cautious. Next time, he will be able to adjust his risk assessment and try more. And he now knows he can take some strong punches. Basically I think Bivol will be able to improve his performance more than Beterbiev will.

7-5 Beterbiev pretty straight forward to me. I could accept a draw but in no way shape or form did Dimitri Bivol do enough to win that fight. Bivols conditioning saved him from the KO but the punches were taking effect in rounds 11 and 12. If we still had 15 round fights he wouldn't have made it. But look at Beterbiev coming on strong late in the fight at 40 years old. Truly amazing.

Bivol did a good job at not getting KO’d but that’s it, Artur did all the work, he was the only one trying to make this fight a blockbuster fight. So I agree he deserved the win. Bivol you’re good but you were too cautious.

Its almost like Bivol watched GGG/Canelo 1 and was like "this is the blueprint." He never hurt Artur, and was backing away with his hands up for the majority of the late rounds. BOTH fighters were landing on the guard. Guess whose hurt more? You cannot throw 200 fewer punches than your opponent without hurting him and expect to win. 7-5 Artur.

7-5 Beterbiev pretty straight forward to me. I could accept a draw but in no way shape or form did Dimitri Bivol do enough to win that fight. Beterbiev landed the harder more damaging blows was the aggressor and Bivol tried steaing rounds with cat n mouse type flurries. That wasnt gonna cut it and he should have known better.

Bivols conditioning saved him from the KO but the punches were taking effect in rounds 11 and 12. If we still had 15 round fights he wouldn't have made it. But look at Beterbiev coming on strong late in the fight at 40 years old. Truly amazing.
