The Liefeld rocket ship is a reference to him building a full-scale (or just really, really large) Youngblood ship to bring to conventions. It is on a paintball field now (or it was at some point in the last 30 years)
I like how you pointed out JSC's evolution; of moving from sequential art to just covers, there is a burn out and we've all seen it firsthand. Especially with a large project to undertake like this, then you have another artist takeover while JSC does only the cover for #14.
C-23 was the named of the card game and comic we had a bookstore in Caracas that had a lot of those in the late 90's probably bought them on a liquidation sale or something, my friend bought a lot of those and stole a bunch of others and we tried playing it but it was too bad
How do I not remember the TMNT from this ... Gen 13 with J Scott Campbell was peak of 1990s comics for me. I even became IRL friends with one of the editors. I'll have to dig out my copies of 13 ... Thanks for the flashback!
I just won a near mint raw Gen 13 #1 newstand edition in a lot auction. I honestly thought it was a dollar bin special. Imagine my surprise when I priced it on a whim. I'm seriously tempted to get it graded.
Goddammit I told ypu guys I'm trying to collect Gen 13, don't Kayfabe Effect this series for me. I'm too poor for that shit LOL... but I did see the notification and place an order for these issues I was missing before even watching LOL fuck. Cheapest option I could find was a set of all three even though I only needed 2.

Oh man, in “Image-ville” where the castle on the hill represents Jim Lee, I bet the empty plot with a missing town is Whilce Portacio.

Gen 13 was one of the last series I continued to buy before I gave up on comics around 1997.
Got these off the shelf, great stuff, got the signed by JSC when he came to the uk a few years back
Would love it if all of you came to Rhode Island Comic Con.

I read comics as a kid but Image comics and Gen 13 really got me into comics as a hobby. Love JSC's art to this day.
It’s weird that he didn’t try to ape Allred’s style on Madman, similar to how he did with Smith on Bone.

Never saw these books...because I had stopped collecting comics. Just scored the set for $15!
