I was lucky enough to see Big Trouble in the theater about two weeks into its release. I was on a family vacation in Tampa, FL, and there was a raging summer thunderstorm that night that could be heard from inside the theater - it shook the walls and the thunder blended perfectly with the green lightning, kung fu and Chinese Black Magic that was unfolding on screen - completely perfect and magical memory when I was 16 years old. Since then I have watched the film over a hundred times, and I am happy to report my own 15 year old son LOVES this film now also!
SF's China town is awesome you can spend days just wondering around and finding little cool shops and stuff , hell I would not be at all surprised if you actually could find a Mogwai in the back corner of one of those little shops.
I always wondered why they never made a sequel. It’s one of my & my girlfriend’s favorite movies. She loves this movie. I am so glad to see Mr. Hong. Thank you.
SWEET! My writing partner was head security guard at 20th Century Fox and I was on the sets of this film to be reunited with many martial arts friends who also appeared in my first feature. James Hong ROCKS! Those Chinatown gates bring back so many memories of films that were shot there, including "Lethal Weapon 3" which also featured many of the same martial artists.
YESSS!!! BTILC is, and will always be one of my favorite movies. When "Lightning" dies if you look close you will see a Chinese character formed by the lightning that roughly translates into the word "Carpenter"

Brilliant tour, there was an almost magical quality to many films made in the 80's, that is why we remember them today, in recent years many films become very throw away and forgettable but a film like 'Big trouble in Little China' just lives on, it is great that you took time to go to a filming locations so we can all see, i live in England so it is not easy for me to get to San Fransico.
