thank you! i got my ackie 2 weeks ago and the only time i see her is on my motion sensor camera while im at work. this makes me feel better, and i will follow your advice!
Bro you’ve come so far with him. I remember when you first got him and how cautious he was around you. Didn’t want anything to do with you unless you were bringing food. Great progress man!
Thanks man. Me and this little guy are building a positive relationship 1 step at a time. Im finally starting to understand what people mean when they say "A monitor is just different from other lizards"
Nice video. I have had mine for about three months now. I basically just make time every day to try and tong feed and give him a chance to step on my hand. One thing that really got him to come out of his shell was that I made it much brighter in his enclosure. I added in an LED and put in a Pro T5 UVB with 14%. A couple times he has ran, not walked to my hand and my sons hand. He will usually walk up one arm and down the other arm back into the enclosure, other times he just wants to get on top of my head. Before the lighting change he would run and hide when i walked into the room but would come back out. He has always tong fed, and would step on your hand occasionally but he was nowhere near as outgoing as he is now. He’s basically 12-13 inches still. I credit the lights and NEVER force handling. So your method really is the way to go in my opinion.
Merry Christmas! I ve recently made a heap of progress taming down my Ackie. I can actually pick him up and treadmill him for a couple minutes at a time
I'm on day 5 of having my first ackie monitor and so far Alastor has been out and about but if I'm in sight he'll stop and watch me. If I move too fast or make noise, he'll go into hiding the rest of the day.
@@Scales13 It's just so uncommon for me. Usually my animals don't keep eye contact for nearly as long. My guy seems very interested in my presence especially when he tilts his head while looking at me and when I fill up his water or clean his basking tiles he stands on two legs and flicks his tongue at me but as soon as he gets like 6 licks in he just leaves like "what the hell is that.." I love how their face can express so many emotions while they don't even have facial muscles. Or maybe I am just reading too much into it lol

@@Scales13 They got that big brain. But as long as you don’t break their trust it seems they can really learn to like you quite a lot.
Exactly.

That's normal at that stage give your new Ackie a few weeks to settle in.
I hope that my Ackie gets comfortable with me just like Thunder is with you
Just keep working with him man. He will just remember positive reinforcement.
uncommon question: Why does my ackie keep gazing past my eyes, into my soul until I leave the room?
Good question. Not sure maybe its just keeping its eye on you. My stares at me while I sleep.
