修行最高的一個境界，應無所住，而生其心。《聽星雲大師說：無所住》

大家平安吉祥
Peace and joy to you all.
今天和各位要講無所住
Today I'm going to talk about
non-abiding.
你住在哪裡
Where do you live?
我住在臺北
I live in Taipei.
我住在高雄
I live in Kaohsiung.
住在上海
I live in Shanghai.
住在美國
I live in the US.
你都有住了一個地方
You live in a certain place.
真正的修行的人
A real cultivator
他就不計較說我住在哪裡
won't care about where he lives.
他無所住
He is non-abiding.
或者我們在講
Let's put it the other way round
再從理上來說
and try to speak from the truth:
你住在哪裡
Where do you live?
我們人每天
Everyday, we
住在財、色、名、食、睡裡面
live in wealth, sex, fame, food, sleep;
住在欲望裡面
live in desires;
住在色、聲、香、味、觸、法
live in sight, sound, scent,
taste, touch, thought,
六塵裡面
a.k.a. the six sensory objects.
我們住的地方就等於地震一樣
The place where we live in
is prone to an earthquake
都是動搖的
and its shocks
都隨時可以毀壞的
and it can easily be destroyed.
都住在無常裡面
So we live in impermanence.
所以這個有所住
So where we live
不安寧、不安全
is unrestful, insecure
住到不安全的地方
and unsafe.
有一個最安全的地方
There is one safe place though -
無所住
the stage of non-abiding.
等於六祖惠能大師
This is like the sixth patriarch Huineng
他本來是一個苦行僧
who was himself an ascetic monk.
後來就是因為悟道啦
Because the gatha he wrote
showed that he'd awakened,
五祖弘忍要傳法給他
so the fifth patriarch Master Hongren
decided to transmit the Dharma to him
就講《金剛經》給他聽
by expounding the Diamond Sutra to him.
《金剛經》裡面有兩句話
A line from the Diamond Sutra
enlightened him:
應無所住而生其心
"to give rise to the mind
yet be free from any attachment."
就是我們這個心住在哪裡
Our mind abides in
就住在所謂財、色、名、食
wealth, sex, fame, food,
情愛、功名、富貴
love, fame, and luxury.
住在那裡都不好
We'd better live in nowhere.
應該要像太陽一樣
We should act like the sun,
太陽住在哪裡
which lives in
太陽住在虛空裡面
empty space.
它沒有住
It abides in nothing,
但是它的光芒四射
and yet it radiates.
佛陀就是的
The Buddha was also like that.
他無所住
He was non-abiding,
就是沒有執著、不計較
i.e. having no attachment
and was not calculating.
不說這是我的
For him, there were no you
那是你的
and me
他跟一切沒有分立
and all binary opposites.
沒有分別
He had no discrimination.
像虛空
Like empty space,
他無所住
he was non-abiding.
就住在虛空裡
He lived in empty space
虛空都是他的
as empty space was his home.
所以修行最高的一個境界
This is the highest level of cultivation.
心有所住
If your mind abides,
就心裡有所執著
it will become attached,
有所計較、有所比較
calculating, tend to make comparisons,
and have the
就有人我是非
concepts of you and me,
and right and wrong.
不會得到安寧、得到平靜
You won't get any peace of mind.
假如心無所住
If your mind is non-abiding,
心無就是不跟你計較
you will not be calculating,
不跟你比較
make comparisons,
不跟你對立
or go against other people.
我不分別
If you are not discriminating,
這裡、哪裡都好
everywhere is equally good to you.
等於慈航法師說
As Venerable Cihang said:
只要自覺心安
If one feels peace of mind,
東西南北都好
north, east, south, west
are the same.
所以修行能可以修到
One can cultivate to the extent that
能隨緣、隨分、隨喜
he goes with the flow,
rejoices at other's good acts,
不要太多的計較得失
and cares not about gain and loss,
不要太多的人我是非
as well as right and wrong.
在應無所住而生其心
To give rise to the mind
yet be free from any attachment.
那就是在無所住裡面
This is non-abiding.
就會平安自在
It gives you peace, mental freedom,
就會很歡喜安樂
and great joy.
